I bought a used car and while it passed inspection, as with all used cars, there were some issues. I cannot express how professional and informed the team at Rob's is. They explained everything I needed to have fixed, worked with my warranty company and made sure the car was running perfectly before they left. In addition, I had brought my older car to them in the past and they were incredibly honest, telling me it wasn't safe to drive and would be too much money to fix. The tow company associated with Rob's Auto Service; Rob's Auto Body are a bunch of thieves. He picked up my car on a Saturday. He had the nerve to charge me for 3 days storage to leave the vehicle on the same lot where the repair was being done. The owners of Rob's Auto Service and Rob's Auto Body claim to be separate businesses and aren't responsible for what the other does, yet they share all the same facilities. In fact the "separate" towing company doesn't have any social media presence. Complete and utter nonsense. Fee was reluctantly paid after he threatened to repossess my car. Good luck with that. I will dispute the additional charges for the storage. Rob's Auto Service was nice to work with and very helpful; "Rob's Auto Body" not so much. read more

Robs has done great work for me many times. My Ram had a bad hub and the axle had fused to the inside of it. Be very careful. Had some work done here and they reused old parts despite being paid for new parts. Rear parking sensors are no longer working and parts installed incorrectly. Overall really, really poor work. The company sign clearly states Robs Auto Service and Collision. My car was towed to your company, I visited your location on several occasions and collected my car from your business. Your techs reinstalled and secured down a cover using a bungee cord when the insurance company paid you $1300 to replace. read more

Rob's Auto has been the go to shop for my family's vehicles for over 10 years. I can't believe I haven't reviewed his shop, but this last time I took my vehicle to him has reminded me to do so. Whether its been simple things like pictures for insurance or inspections, oil changes or unique problems with my vehicles I bring to him, it's all the same level of service. Rob and his team are trustworthy and meticulous, and pay attention to detail. My vehicles always come out way better than they went in. There's never any type of sticker shock with the cost or repairs either. On this last trip, I had a laundry list of things I felt my vehicle needed, all of which were going to cost a lot of money. Rob made it a point to discuss this with me in a fair, realistic, and straight forward manner, convincing me to save my money and only do the necessary. Any other shop would have gladly taken my money on unnecessary repairs. When it was obvious that my vehicle was going to be kept overnight,I was going to just take a Lyft or Uber home, but Rob insisted that one of his guys give me a ride. Went in to get my car fixed and left with the same problem that I came in with 4 days after It got "fixed". A delayed issue isn't a solution and for it to get fixed for only 4 days I had to pay almost $800. They changed their story when you would ask specifics on the car. They left out information that shouldn't of been and the owner was rude when I told them I'm having the same problem again. They wanted to charge for another diagnosis even though the first one was incorrect and it was the same problem that was happening. The owner said it was a coincidence that it was doing exactly what it was doing before. Wouldn't recommend going there. They don't know what they're doing. Waste of time and money. read more

This place was great! I called to see if they do pre purchase inspections on cars. I was buying a car from a dealer and wanted a mechanics opinion before purchase. They got me in within 20 mins. Spent time looking over the car and put it on a lift. The guys wrote me down a list of things that concerned them and it helped me make my decision on the car. Brought my BMW X3 because my brake light went on. Usually I go to the dealership but after many questionable issues about charges for service and repair I decided to try a local auto shop. Also, the dealership was not able to even look at my car that day. I sent a message to the owner through Yelp and he said I could bring the car down to be evaluated. Rob, one of the owners, inspected my front breaks and showed me the worn pads and sensors. He advised that they should be replaced along with brake fluid. He also polished the rotors which were still ok. The repair cost me 200 dollars and that included labor and parts. I waited in the small waiting room for about an hour and had a pleasant conversation with the clerk in the office. Overall a very pleasant experience and I felt like he was not pulling my leg because I am a woman. I know at the dealership they charge more because they offer amenities like free coffee, wifi and a loaner car but really do you need all those extras? You could buy 2 pairs of Jimmy Choo shoes with the savings. The quote from the dealership was over 500 dollars not including labor- so who knows what they would have charged me...Will probably bring my car here for service from now on. read more

I have been having all my 40 plus company and personal vehicles serviced for the last 15 plus years at Rob's. The service is above and beyond and one difference is with Rob, when you bring your vehicle in he will tell you if you don't need something done. If needs are performed, they are done right the first time and the price is also always right. Where as most repair facilities will rake you over the coals so they can take your money regardless whether you need it or not, that won't happen here. All work was completed in a timely manner, billing was a breeze. The lot is large and secured, I had no problem leaving my Jeep with them. Robs auto is awesome. He was recommended by a friend when I moved to Smithtown. I've been going here for years and he's always done great work at a fair price. He understands when your on a budget and will let you know what needs to be done now and what can wait a bit. He will even send you somewhere else if he thinks it's a better option for your situation. Honestly unlike a lot of places you never feel lied to or ripped off. My experience with Rob's was not so great. I came in with a squealing noise from the passenger side rear wheel. The noise would happen at low speed and was not affected by braking vs. not braking. This was diagnosed by Rob as a brake problem (warped rotors) and I was told I would need to replace the rotors and pads. This is quite an expensive repair. I went ahead with the repair and less than 1 month later the problem was back exactly the same. In addition, I believe that the rotors used are inferior parts (not OEM) because they are visibly rusting. Since I have nice alloy spoke wheels, you can see the ugly rusting of the rear rotors. There is no rust on the OEM rotors in the front. So overall, I am not happy and will look elsewhere next time I need work done. Meanwhile, I am still stuck with the original problem. read more
