Fred, the owner, is transparent, giving me a free car repair estimate before my Hyundai Kona is serviced. He charges a flat-fee for everything, and prices are advertised on a flat screen monitor. Prices are affordable, and the technicians do quality work. I take my vehicle here for routine maintenance that does not require OEM parts, such as tire rotations, wheel alignments, fuel system cleaning and annual NYS inspections. Fred says that he uses vehicle-specific parts, which are delivered from nearby warehouses. The shop gives you the old parts back, such as burnt out headlights and worn windshield wipers. I only go to the dealership for brakes, batteries, warranty work and recalls. Most jobs at Lakeview Car Care are done in less than two hours. While you wait, there is no transportation to take you to and from home or work, so you have to call an Uber or Lyft. The waiting room is relatively clean and has comfortable chairs. It also has a coffee/tea bar with a Nespresso machine and its pods; and some tea bags, Carnation dry milk, and sweeteners. Service is personalized because Fred has regular customers, whom he instantly recognizes and engages in chit chat with. Terrible asked for help on a bolt snapping on my rear control arm and my wheel un able to have weight on it so I will need a tow and the one who picked up the phone was nothing but disrespectful as saying what do you think ima be able to do pick it up on a forklift and Thrown it in to the car lift because I'm not working on the floor how do you expect for me to put it on the car lift . I went there for an oil change. They told me my car needed synthetic oil. I had never used synthetic oil before and it was not a requirement from the manufacturer as he said. They charged me for rotating the tires after charging $70 for an oil change and with the inspection when they were done I was billed almost $400. I will never go back there again. I sent my daughter and her boyfriend to Lakeview referring them as trustworthy. The towed car sat in front of the shop where the tow truck left it for over 7-8 days. When we first called they said they were backed up and asked for patience and complained about the place the tow truck left the car, which is not something that we can help. We told them not a problem we will make out daughter understand to wait for them to call her because they were annoyed she was trying to find out details the first few days. Just under two weeks later my husband stopped in and spoke to the owner who we have trusted for many years. He explained they still had not gotten the chance to diagnose but are doing that and will be in touch. Here we are 4 weeks later and my daughter tried to stop in because there had been NO calls returned. She has asked them numerous times that if they think it can not be fixed or will cost anything please call her to discuss it before anything so they can decide if they want to keep it or just sell it as is They presented her with a nearly 700$ bill for parts and labor and the car IS NOT REPAIRED OR DRIVABLE AT ALL- she was frantic and called me. I called and spoke to "Dave" who proceeded to tell me this was for various parts they needed to install in order to "diagnose the problem" and they have no diagnosis. I told dave this was NEVER authorized and that she called many times to find out things like this and was told not to worry and they will call her back they still didnt know what was wrong with it. Dave agreed the time line was long and offered to lower the bill to 390.00 for the car that is not drivable. We will be seeing them in court if the owner fred does not reach out to me as I requested. Dave told me he will call me "next week on Monday" I told him this is deeply inappropriate and unprofessional. I am so upset we have been using this shop for many many years, I am astonished by the lack of communication and the audacity to charge money for an un-repaired car that they have had for four weeks without a call to anyone or a call returned to discuss. I told him a simple call to her to let her decide if the money was worth spending for parts to diagnose would have avoided this issue.We have all been calling in and asking for estimates and prognosis for a long time only to be brushed off and told they will "get back to us dont worry" Stay tuned. read more

Every time I bring my car to this shop I end up questioning his integrity about the expensive charges and the lies he provides. Parts he replace he never show customers it was replaced and claims he throw it in the dumpster. When I asked him to replace my brakes where it has warranty from auto zone he gives me garbage brakes from his dumpster that I lose my warranty replacement money. Window motor claims it was broken and replaced it without proving to me by giving me the broken parts. He is a scam. Do not fall for this. Avoid at all costs. read more

Vehicle: 2017 jeep wrangler unlimited Backstory: i previously had wheels and tires mounted/balanced by another show. 33s with 17inch steel wheels. Was experiencing concerning steering wheel and vehicle vibration at all speeds and upon further research determined a "road force balance" would hopefully resolve the error. I reviewed local shops (all over long island) who have a road force balance machine and came across lakeview car care which had great reviews. First impression: i called rather short notice and spoke to a gentleman(i strongly emphasize gentleman) named Fred. I explained my issues and that i would like to try the roadforce balance. Sure he could have just told me to come in and welcome my business, but he took about 5-10 minutes explaining to me that it might not work and how the machine operates and the results might vary. I still proceeded to take the chance. Upon arrival: again although very short notice this shop was able to accomodate me rather quickly. Within 5 minutes they had taken my vehicle in and began to proceed. During that process and while it was being done Fred took the time to sit with me and began to explain how the machine works and all of the benefits of it in a very articulate way and made sure i knew EXACTLY what was being done which he absolutely did not need to do given then shop was fairly busy at the time. The young lady behind the desk was extremely friendly and took all of my personal information right away. At the end: vehicle was repaired. Fred advised the gentleman who worked on the vehicle would take it on a road test to assure that the errors were resolved and again took the time to show me what the error was previously and how it was corrected. I had driven over an hour to come to this shop due to what i have read about it and i do not regret it at all. It was a long ride home but the ride was back to normal and as smooth as ever. I brought my car in this morning for an oil change and tire rotation as there was also wobbling noise coming from my passenger tire they were quick and responsive to my needs. the oil change and tire rotation was done in a timely manner and also had the noise valuated and fixed and was honest with what was going on. I felt that the price was fair and the work was done well. I would definitely recommend seeing Fred. The wobbling noise ended up being two missing Lugnuts and three loose Lugnuts which could've been extremely dangerous if my tire were to fall off. he address the problem and fixed it and he even did a test drive to ensure that was the problem that I was hearing since I recently moved to the area I think I now have found my local mechanic for the time to come. read more

I've been coming here for several years, since I got my first car. Fred and his team are super reliable, knowledgeable, fair, and pleasant to work with. If you're coming for routine maintenance, it's probably best to make an appointment ahead of time since they get super busy. But with that being said, I've had a few emergencies where I called and someone was able to look at my car right away. When you get something repaired here, plan on getting it repaired again. No issues ever really get resolved. I had my ride there for 3 days. No one called me. I spoke with a super rude receptionist who I could tell was completely annoyed that, after waiting over 24 hours, minimally, id like to speak with someone WORKING on the car. All descriptions of issues are very vague. Part most recently changed showed sigs of wear that shouldnt have been there. Look, maybe the experience is different for others. I spent thousands there.
