The hotel was at the bottom of a hill so if you you didn't have a car it was quite a long hike up and nothing at the top apart from a main road. There was a village in the bay along but that was just British pubs and souvenir shops. Back to the hotel. The staff were amazing. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and my birthday. They booked us into a direct sea view room and on my birthday delivered a bottle of champagne and 2 champagne flutes. We booked a table in the themed restaurant and they treated us like royalty. Excellent staff. Shame about the facilities and location of the hotel.

I don't think we've ever visited a more stunning resort. The Ritz redefines luxury and sets a new standard for what a resort should be. From the moment we arrived -- where we were welcomed by name at the gate -- we were treated like royalty. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel special every moment. It's the attention to detail: twice-daily housekeeping, swift room service and concierge responses, their own locally sourced water bottle, the car valet guys also being on top of it... the list goes on. The property is simply breathtaking. There are several pools, including an adults-only one, multiple restaurants (including a Michelin-starred option), stunning ocean views, a breakfast that outshines any hotel we've ever stayed at, and even a private beach, where guests are taken down via the hotel's cable car. Every corner of the resort exuded luxury. We mentioned we were getting married during our stay, not expecting much, but the staff went above and beyond to make our special day even better. From balloons and desserts delivered to our room to coming back from the ceremony and finding "I love you" spelled out in rose petals on our bed -- the service was on another level. Thank you, Abama staff, for making our stay unforgettable. We can't wait to return!

The staff was universally helpful and friendly. The grounds were immaculate and we loved the private feel of the beach, even though it was a public beach. We tried almost all of the restaurants, and never had a bad meal. We appreciated the breakfast, which was included, and the focus on local fruits and produce. We would love to revisit this resort.

My only complaint was the temperature issue. The rooms don't have air conditioning. They rely on cross ventilation from the tiny window in the bathroom. We we're able to rent an air conditioned for about 70 euros for the week, but it wasn't all that effective. The airlines just recently started flying direct to the island from the US. Hopefully, with the ability to have more Americans, the owner will update the cooling system. (us Americans are spoiled when it comes to air conditioning)

I had booked a 1-bedroom apartment but was allocated a studio apartment with a pull down bed. Within the first hour in the apartment I was nearly electrocuted when the kettle leaked all over the kitchenette floor while switched on and, as if by magic, a maintenance man turned up at the door with a new kettle; obviously it was a known fault with the kettle that nobody saw fit to warn us about. Our apartment was right at the front by the sea, not part of the main hotel, and as such the balcony was on the same level as the sun terrace. It was unfortunate for us that the timeshare reps chose this terrace to hold their very noisy, rebel rousing, breakfast sales meetings every single morning. It was impossible to have a lay in as we had to have the sliding doors open to let the air in as there was no air con and the front door overlooked the alleyway where all the cleaners congregated for their early morning break so we were bombarded by noise from all directions. Also the catch on the balcony doors was hanging off where it had been previously forced, which did nothing to instil a feeling of security. The maintenance man denied that this was faulty even when the catch came away in his hand. The management did nothing to rectify any of the complaints. The restaurant was quite good and had quite a varied menu but we would have appreciated a bit more rest.

Gran Meliá Palacio de Isora - Red Level Pool

ROOM My family and I (4 people in total) stayed at a…read more2-bedroom suite in the Red Level area. We were so pleasantly surprised by how spacious the rooms are. The living room has a balcony with an ocean view. There's a dining area in the living room as well. The master bedroom has an additional balcony and a bathroom with double sinks. The second bedroom is a little smaller in size however actually comes with a much larger bathroom (with double sinks, double standing showers, and a bath tub). Our experience living in the suite was honestly close to being perfect, with the only exception of a little water leakage situation in the shower. The seal between the shower glass door and the rest of the bathroom wasn't great so despite my best effort, the bathroom floor was always quite wet after a shower. SERVICE One of the best service experiences I've had. We arrived close to 7pm at the resort. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted warmly. Our luggage was taken care of and we were led directly to the Red Level check in area and provided complimentary Cava. The front desk had already prepared most of the paperwork for us and we checked in quickly after. Because our flight arrived later than expected and we were running late to our dinner reservation, the front desk staff took the initiative to update the restaurant without us having to ask her to do so. I thought that was quite attentive of them! Additionally, I was impressed by how welcoming and helpful the staff was. We initially couldn't find one of the restaurants. When I approached a staff member to ask her, she took the time out to walk us all the way to the other end of the resort! When my family visited the Red Level Family Lounge for the first time, we were greeted and given their WhatsApp number, which I used to stay in touch with the Concerige after to book tennis courts and spa services. The Red Level Concierge kindly looked into excursions (eg whale watching at Los Gigantes) on our behalf and even provided restaurant recommendations for Garachico. AMENITIES There were about 3-4 swimming pools on the property. The largest one is right in the center of the property - I believe it's one of the largest infinity pools in Europe. This pool is not heated and has seawater so it was a little too cold for me in December. The other two pools are smaller. We mostly used the Red Level pool which is in a more private area and still large enough in my opinion. The water temperature felt more comfortable there. There are cabanas for rental (250 euros minimal spending that includes food and beverage by the infinity pool or 100-150 euros minimal spending that includes only beverage). Additionally, there is a sports center that has 2 Padel courts, 2 Tennis courts and 1 mini soccer courts. There are a few table tennis tables and stationery bikes for spin classes. When we visited in December, the resort was relatively empty (I know! Surprising given it was a holidays) so it was really easy to book tennis courts. We played tennis almost every single day there. They have rackets for rental as well. The spa services were rather underwhelming. My mom and I each booked a facial at the Clarins Spa and we both thought it was overall a mediocre experience. The esthetician was not particularly skillful with the facial massage, and I actually didn't think they used the best products for my skin type. It caused some stinging and irritation. FOOD As a food enthusiast, I am not usually easily impressed but I have to say I was quite impressed by the food here! There are 7 restaurants on the property and I visited 6 of them - my favorite was the La Terrace (seafood-centric restaurant). The food was delectable. Presentation was beautiful. Pictures below are from La Terrace. And the ambience is just on a whole different level! Think candle lit dinners under a starry sky with rhythmic ocean waves hitting the shore in the background! The other restaurants were also very good - there's one Italian restaurant, a steakhouse, a Mexican restaurant by the pool, an Asian fusion place, and more general options that include a buffet restaurant. OVERALL Have enjoyed every moment on this property. This is the perfect location for a relaxing family vacation! Nice pools, amazing staff, wonderful entertainment/sports options, and incredible food. I have recommended this resort to many friends and will continue to do so!

It's far enough from the touristy sections of Tenerife (Playa de las Américas) but still quite accessible to popular touristy spots such as Los Gigantes. The hotel is huge with numerous restaurants, spa services and its own live entertainment. It's easy to stay-in the resort without even exploring Tenerife. We liked that option, but we did end up dining outside the hotel quite often. The Red Level offered a luxurious experience. We were offered complimentary Cava while waiting to check into our rooms. The views looking out into the Atlantic Ocean were stunning, especially during sunset. Valet parking, bottled water, Clarins toiletries and sunscreen are all included. The Red Level guests also have a daily happy hour where there are complimentary drinks and tapas. This was a definite bonus and the venue was perfect for watching the sunset. The included breakfast buffet was also all-encompassing. There is no private beach, but there is a public black sand beach 50 m away from the property along a scenic walking trail leading to Los Gigantes. There is also a small town close to the hotel (within walking distance) with good alternative dining options (pizza, seafood, sports bar). If I were to return to Tenerife, I would definitely consider staying at the Red Level Gran Melia Resort again.

Excellent hotel with a great location, beautiful pool, and clean rooms…read more We checked in yesterday, and after an issue with the first room, Eva and Miriam, were kind enough to set us up with a much better room. A big comfortable king sized bed, fridge, and TV with many Spanish and English channels, including CNN International and BBC World News. There's a good sized marble bathroom with a double sink, and a patio with table and chairs. The building colors here, white and peach, are very fresh looking. The pool and whirlpool also look and feel amazing. The location is right behind the local beach, where you can buy food and drinks, and easily head back to the hotel to eat or change. It's also located on the Gold Mile were there are many bars, restaurants, and shops just a few steps away. You can also use all the features of the Mediterranean Palace next door which has more families, loud party music, and young adults. If you prefer a quieter, couple-friendly resort, this place will be more suited to you. They have a Spa in the Cleopatra. We used the salt water pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, and even had a couples massage. So relaxing! Further, the buffet breakfast here (included without extra charge) is outstanding. Omelette station, custom sliced cold cuts, breads, pastries, fruits, Lindt chocolates, self-serve Cava, and much more. We had a late flight out to Poland on our checkout day and Eva and Julia happily extended our checkout time to accommodate. What a great week here, it's a highly recommended resort!
