I felt like I looked pregnant after giving birth to my second child 2 years later. I wanted to feel like a woman again and not just a mom. I was nervous about getting the surgery because this was the first major surgery I ever had. I needed a plastic surgeon that was gentle, would put my mind to ease, would listen to my wants, and wouldn't try to up sale me,overwelm me with fast talking and medical jargon, or treat me like I was a walking dollar sign. I found all of that in Dr. Piazza and his staff. From the first over the phone conversation to book my consultation, I felt listened to. I was encouraged to bring my husband AND children for emotional support. At the consultation Dr. Piazza and his staff were very personable and thorough. We talked about what I wanted done and he gave me a reasonable idea of what that wold look like. I thought I needed lipo in my upper back, but he explained to me that the Shapewear I was using only made it appear that I had a lot of fat but it was just too tight. He could have just agreed with me and took my money. But after looking again when I got home he was correct. He also noticed that I had an umbilical hernia and set up a appointment with Dr. Ash in the same building. After my surgery was booked and I paid for the surgery, I was never treated like a number. Any time I called, they answered. Before surgery I was able to meet all the doctors that would be in the room for the surgery, Dr. Ash, hernia repair surgeon, and Dr. Cady, anesthesiologist. My surgery was on August 14 and everything went great. After surgery I received hand written thank you notes from all the doctors and thank you flowers from Dr. Piazza and staff. The night after the surgery, Dr. Piazza called my caregiver (my mother, to see how I was feeling; excellent bed side manners. I am now finishing up my first week of recovery and I am exceedingly happy about my results. My scar is even and low, my belly button looks natural, and I have my womanly figure back. I have and will continue to sing Dr. Piazza's praises and highly recommend him to everyone that is thinking about a tummy tuck. Best decision I made, no regrets. read more

I have been wanting to have a tummy tuck or liposuction for the past 10-15 years because I went from having an hour-glass shape to an apple shape due to menopause. I have been to four other plastic surgeons in Austin for consultations, but never felt comfortable after said visits. This year I decided that this was the time. I had lost over 20 pounds through getting my hormones straightened back out, exercise and proper eating. So I started searching the internet and found Dr. Piazza. Knowing that I wanted a board certified surgeon, I did more research and found very good, if not glowing, reviews of Dr. Piazza and his staff, so I sent a contact request through his website. Literally within the hour, I received a call from his care coordinator, Kristen, to discuss my situation. She spent easily an hour with me on the telephone hearing my story and discussing my options, so I make an appointment for a consultation. Quite honestly after so many other visits, I was still skeptical. Boy was I ever wrong. I met with Kristen to discuss again my options and then Dr. P entered the room. I felt instantly at ease and he spent quite some time with me discussing options, different surgeries and how together we could enhance my appearance and therefore help me retrieve my confidence after menopause. I decided on the "mommy makeover" (tummy tuck and breast lift) which in my case, as I told him, would be a grandmommy makeover being 58 years old. Right before my surgery and knowing that I was nervous, he sat down on the bed, took my hands and calmly and gently reassured me (and my husband) that he was going to take the best care of me and that all would be well. His surgical nurse called my husband several times from the OR to assure him that all was going well and where they were in the procedure, and kept him informed all along the way. This Thursday will be 3 weeks since my surgery and I can tell you that I have received the best of care. Dr. P and his staff (Hayley, Kristen and Anayeli) have answered my emails and phone calls in an amazingly timely manner. Even though I still have some swelling, my body already looks amazing and I am feeling confident again and can't wait to go swimsuit shopping at the end of my 6 week recovery period and more of the swelling has gone down. I wish I could give 10 stars, because Dr. P is that amazing. He is a perfectionist and his expertise is superior. He absolutely has the best "bed size" manner of any surgeon that I have ever met - and I've met quite a few through other family members. So pleased with this Doctor and his wonderful staff. I think all of us have come across sour medical staff most of the time we step into an office; unfortunately, in spite of the money you are paying, plastic surgery office staff are often not the exception either. Fortunately that was not the case at Dr. Piazza's! From the moment I walked in I was greeted warmly and treated respectfully throughout the entire process. One of his young assistants was a little hard to read, but I was there to consult about a medical procedure, not make friends so who really cares. The Doctor was very thorough and spent a LOT of time with me, patiently answering questions and giving me more attention and consideration than my consultations with other Doctors. If I had concerns, he was able to provide me evidence or email me all kinds of medical journals and studies to read up on. What instilled most of my confidence in him was his willingness to give me what I wanted without being afraid to tell me no if it wasn't good for me. I appreciated that I felt listened to, but looked after at the same time. Although the other doctors I consulted with had more experience (don't get me wrong, Dr. Piazza still had more than enough experience for me to feel comfortable), I have cancelled my other two consultations and decided to go with him for the procedure because he was by far the most thorough and considerate. This is important to me because: 1 - In my experience, the bedside manner of the doctor dictates the quality of handling any complications or questions after the procedure. You should never feel like you have to jump through hoops with your doctor! 2 - Surgery is scary and I want to be seen as a human being! Not just a number. I hate being temporarily out of control under anesthesia so trust is KEY. Its also worth mentioning that I was fairly pleased once I received the quote for my procedure. In my opinion it wasn't so cheap that I would question his abilities nor so needlessly bloated that I felt taken advantage of. They will be getting a call from me to schedule, soon. read more

This review is from the perspective of a worried husband. I am wiring this review almost a year post-op to ensure everything Dr Piazza said about her healing would come true. It did. My wife, who was Dr Piazza's actual patient, needed a stomach hernia operation and breast augmentation reconstruction. The hernia was a result of complications from a c-section from our second child, which left us horrified of the prospect of future necessary surgeries. We engaged in a lengthy search process and became quite frustrated until we contacted Dr Piazza's office. His staff seemed more welcoming and encouraging than all the other offices. We setup an initial consultation based on my wife's good feeling about the initial call. Unfortunately, I had to travel for work the same day my wife had her appointment, and I was quite upset because I really wanted to understand exactly how the doctor planned to help her. My wife also really wanted me there and thought about canceling the appt. She decided to go anyway because the hernia needed attention quickly and we didn't want to go the "mesh" route. Glad we did. Dr Piazza actually let me participate via conference call on the initial consultation! Who does that? He was very confident and reassuring during that call and cemented our decision to go with him. Everything about Dr Piazza's office is professional and friendly. My wife was always welcomed more as a friend than patient for every pre-op visit and she loved it. To me, all this was helpful for her to make her less anxious about surgery, but I only wanted to see results. Just knowing my wonderful wife needed to go "under the knife" again left me exceedingly anxious and worried. My concern about the results was squelched quickly. Dr. Piazza is as good as it gets as far as I am concerned. As a fitness fanatic, and super active person both at work and as a parent I was extremely reluctant to take time off to get the breast lift I thought I needed. I put it off for a year until one day a bad ankle sprain sidetracked me and gave me the final push to take the surgery plunge. I am three days into my recovery and am beyond thrilled with the result. My breasts didn't look this good in my twenties and I will be 50 this year! No implant just a lift and virtually no pain. I went for a three mile walk today effortlessly (my ankle was the only thing that slowed me down). I went to him with an abdominal hernia from a large abdominal diastasis (abdominal muscle separation from pregnancy) and a breast aug went bad from a different doc in 06. I was given several names of plastic surgeons by my general surgeon for breast reconstruction following mastectomy. I researched them online and was very impressed with the before and after pictures and technique of Dr. Piazza. After meeting with him and his staff I had no reservations that I wanted him to perform my surgery. Both my mastectomy and reconstruction procedures went very well and I was back at work within 2 weeks after both. Dr. Piazza and his office were all so helpful, compassionate and attentive. They took care of me like I was there only patient. I am so pleased with my results as well and feel that you can't tell by looking at me that I had reconstruction. It was a very scary time in my life and they all made me feel very comfortable and that I was in good hands. I just wish I had more money so I could have some "fun" procedures done with him!
