Thank you, thank you, thank you Rochelle Stephen's Salon. I am an early 60-something lady who was extremely unhappy with my hairstyle. I truly hated how I looked and took a chance on a new salon, figuratively hitting the lottery. Christine obliterated what I referred to as my "rat's nest" and transformed me into a sophisticated, presentable lady. Christine cut my hair in a circular way, eradicating my dead-end mess, which was made worse by several uneven shades of brown, some of which had gone brassy. She gave me a beautiful layered cut, like nothing I've ever seen or had before, added a solid brown base upon which she placed gorgeous very light brown highlights that are totally natural (no zebra stripes). Christine even showed me how to blow it out at home, which worked! The cut was so good that it reproduced at home - amazing! The transformation resulted in almost everyone at home and at work noticing and complimenting me - in reality they were complimenting my hairdresser. I am not only happy, I am extremely grateful. Thank you. UPDATE: 2/20/17: About a month later I stopped in to have my roots touched up, which was executed with the same expertise and graciousness I've come to expect from this wonderful salon. I followed Goddess from JLK Salon in Nanuet and I'm not one to travel distances from my house. She was the first stylist I met after moving from NYC to Rockland - so I was nervous - but not for long bc she's a miracle worker. She was so knowledgeable about hair, color and I trusted her recommendations. She always puts her clients first. I have young kids and she always works around my schedule or has someone help blow out my hair to get me out the door faster or fits me in last minute bc of my chaotic schedule or even comes in on a Sunday bc I work FT during the week. I am so happy to have found this salon! It is immaculate and the atmosphere is modern bright and friendly. I was offered coffee, cappuccino, tea or wine on a Thursday night after work. They are all very talented, professional , friendly and accommodating! I have a high pressured job and whenever I go to this salon, I can really unwind after a hard day at work. I use Christine and she does the most natural looking balayage I have ever had and then she has the most unique style of cutting I have ever experienced. It just falls into place every time I blow it out. I have many affairs that I attend, she is so creative with hair and makeup .I am always asked what I will be wearing , type of affair etc. and I leave the salon looking like a million dollars every time. This place is amazing! My stylist, Helene Pagan just moved here. I highly recommend Helene and all the rest of the staff. My previous salon treated the clientele like chattel. It was as if the owner expected us all to come because of his name recognition. I only went there because of Helene. When I walked into Rochelle Stephen's Salon I was greeted by Kristine, the owner, as if I was a long lost friend! Never in all the years I went to the other place was I treated as kindly and nicely as this. I was asked numerous times if I wanted coffee, tea, water, cookies and cake...this place is fabulous, friendly, fantastic and it fits me like a hand and glove! Did I mention the high end products? Amazing salon & people! Started going here when my hairdresser Jill moved from her previous salon and i absolutely LOVE it! Even though I only go to her, everyone who works there is always so friendly and is happy to see you...such a welcoming environment! Jill is simply amazing....I've been getting my hair highlighted for years, but it wasn't until I started seeing her that strangers would come up to me and give me compliments on my color and cut. My hair has also never been healthier! I love Jill's honesty on what will and won't work and she always only cuts off as much as I ask...I never leave having any hair regrets. My daughter had her hair cut and colored by Jill. My daughter's hair is brown and she wanted platinum blonde. Not an easy task. Jill went above and beyond for my daughter. Before she even started she sent my daughter pictures and those texts went back and forth. It was so lovely of her to do this. When my daughter came, she did a test strip first to make sure it would be work. The process itself took a long time and Jill was so patient. My daughter had to come back a second time and Jill made herself available which I know was not easy as she is a sought after stylist. She put so much time into my daughter and really, truly cared about the result. You can tell she does this for all of her clients. It's just her way. About 2 yrs ago Christine V, a longtime top hair stylist in New City, opened her own salon. I have been a customer since day 1 & finally decided it was time to let others know what a wonderful shop she has created. The staff is professional & always makes you feel comfortable. Christine is well known for her beautiful cuts and also has expertise in various types of extensions as well as hairpieces. If it's color you need Kari is the best. She's been my colorist for many, many years & is well known in New City with a long client list. I've used Katie many times for blowouts & highly recommend her. I was recommended by my friend who comes from manhattan to go to this salon for a haircut with Christine. She has given me the best haircut I have ever had. My hair is very straight, she used several tools and it just falls into place . They offered me many kinds of beverages & hung my coat. It was very welcoming. The salon is very clean. She had asked the assistant to get the brushes from the sterilizer and she explained that all brushes after every client goes into the sterilizer.
