It was really easy to determine when meeting with different contractors that some were in way over their heads and others were so unbelievably over priced that it was crazy to consider them. Juan had the knowledge and skills to do everything we needed and didn't quote us crazy numbers. We had a budget set with a "not to exceed" for everything we wanted, and we're aware that things cost money. Our expectations were set from the beginning and though we added to the list along the way we knew those changes would cost extra, and Juan was totally reasonable with the charges when making additions. You'll only do this once, likely, so we found things we needed (more wanted) to add along the way. It's hard to see everything in the beginning of the project, so we were glad Juan's patience and ability to work with us financially to make this backyard truly the nicest space we've ever had to enjoy outside. I have used Rock & Rose twice thus far. The first time, I called many landscape contractors after there was a car accident in our front yard. I was surprised how others did not return my call, did not return it promptly, or missed the consultation time. The car accident insurance company sent out an emergency repair company who was cordial but just didn't seem to know as much about landscaping. I found R&R from an old file from the previous homeowner on contractors and didn't know what to expect. Juan arrived on time and was cordial, clear, and efficient in going through the assessment. I asked him a ton of questions and was very specific about what I wanted, since I just didn't know what to expect. He patiently answered them all clearly. He gave me cost and timing, and agreed to start in a few days as opposed to other people who said they'd start in 2-4 weeks. Also, he was able to suggest things that may better suit my needs (materials, design, etc.) as well as find me ways to optimize (we can fix that rather than having to replace it) and save me money without sacrificing quality. Juan's crew repaired and replaced a concrete pillar. It was then re-stucco'd, painted, and the landscape lighting that was damaged was fixed. They color-matched so that both the repaired and original match. They repaired and repainted the gates and rebuilt part of a retaining wall. They also put down a decomposed granite area for me. It was all perfect and affordable. And it was on time! Later this year, I needed some help in the backyard when our sprinkler panel blew out and started leaking. He replaced the entire electrical panel (ours was outdated a little jerry-rigged together) and also moved it to a better spot in our yard. He was scheduled to come out on a day that started to rain. I called to see if he wanted to cancel, but he and his crew came out anyway and worked in the rain to finish it for me as promised. Both of these were unplanned/emergency yard projects, and he was professional, easy to communicate with, and did great work. We plan to do some planned work in our yard soon, and I already know that we will call Juan for it. Such a relief to have a go-to person for it. Juan completely renovated our backyard this past summer. We looked at several different options and contractors before deciding on Rock and Rose Landscape. Juan offered a fair price and had a team engaged with the project for over a month before completing the work. The results were amazing and as part of the job the team laid concrete, put in a custom fire pit and added a large natural waterfall/fountain. Juan followed up several times after the job was complete to make sure we were satisfied with the results. They came back for 2-3 more days to replant some of the plants for better placement, adjust the waterfall, and re-evaluate the sprinklers. This was the best experience I've ever had with a contractor. My yard was a mess-another landscaper didn't want the job. Juan showed up on time for our appt (big plus), I told him what I was looking for and he came up with a plan. A far better plan than I would have come up with-he is very creative. I was recently looking for someone to rip out my driveway and install pavers. I called around and I got three estimates; one from Rock and Rose Landscape. It didn't take long after meeting Juan Martinez for me to realize that he was the guy for the job. He was creative, professional, and his prices were very competitive. The entire job took 7 days to complete and he was working along side his crew each day. Juan has his own team and his own equipment....no subcontractors and Juan is licensed. There were approximately 4-5 people working each day and they were all very courteous and professional. I was extremely impressed as I watched as my wife and kids walk to the car each morning. His crew would stop what they were doing( ie. turn off the Bobcat or stop swinging the sledge hammer) so that my family could safely walk to the car. I had Juan Martinez, and Rock and Rose Landscape lay stone bricks on the avenue part of my property- the area in front of my house between the side walk and street. Let me start by saying I am a very particular individual and Juan's work is Top Shelf. I could tell he knew what is was talking about in regards to tying in the colors of my house and landscape, so I just listened to his ideas and followed his advice. The end result looks amazing. Juan and his crew cut no corners while doing the install. They dug out the existing pavers and earth and gave me a hearty back fill on base for my new brick work. The part that impressed me the most was how RnR cut the thick bricks WITH a radius in them to follow the contour of my water meter box. That's a true sign of quality that I struggle to find these days. The only dilemma was a crew member accidentally cut my water main while digging out the old material. Juan had an experienced plumber there to fix the issue within the hour. I had zero time to get concerned before it was fixed and I was back in business. Juan footed the bill without a flinch.
