These owners are so rude. My husband asked how much some figures were in a glass case that were unmarked, and the owner said "some of them are not for sale" completely deadpan. He did not offer any other help, and proceeded to stare him down. Also, their hallways are very narrow and it's awkward when you try to get around other people in the store. The owner, instead of asking to get around me, stood right in front of me and stared at me. I awkwardly scooted out of the way and the owner said "THERE you go" condescendingly. Based on other reviews, this guy is going to run his business into the ground and I don't think he cares. I just wouldn't waste my time here. read more

The inventory is priced over market value on most items. The owner has very poor customer service skills and interpersonal skills. There are limited options for comic shops in Northwest Arkansas, but I'd rather go to another city than patronize this shop. read more

If you ask anyone how much of a nerd they think they are, each person would have a different story to tell. Some people know every comic book, every anime, every story, every character in existence and could teach a class on it. Some people only had access to a few mainstream things growing up but are JUST as passionate as the next person about those things, and that's okay! Some peoples' parents didn't have a lot of money and couldn't buy their kids new comic books to keep them up-to-date, so they could only read used old hand-me-downs that they could get their hands on. I live in a world where it's OKAY if you're a big comic book nerd or just a little bit of a comic book nerd. What makes the realms of anime and comic books uninhabitable is the incessant gatekeeping from people within that chases away anyone on the outside who is new to it but wants a view in. The owner, Alan is one of those people. I worked for him for a very short time, and it was short because he is an awful human being. I have been mistreated at several jobs before, but he takes the cake. At first, I took the job with him PT, working for him two days a week; Tue and Wed; because I already had a full time job, but I had severe dental issues and needed the extra money for insurance. On my very first day, he instructed me to pull the outdoor sign from the back of his truck and fasten it to the sidewalk with the bolts. His store helper arrived, pulled a box of comics from his car and walked into the store. One bolt in to the sign, Alan came outside and said "What are you doing? GET UP. You NEED to be following him." I said "alright" and followed his helper. He said "Help him stack those boxes in the back". Halfway through stacking the boxes, he approached me again and said "You need to get out there and finish the sign before it gets stolen", as if he wasn't the one who took me away from it. On my second day, He instructed me to open the New Edition boxes and place them on the shelves. Some were high up. I asked Alan where a step stool was. He said "Probably in the back if you use your eyes." I searched everywhere for it. There wasn't a step stool. I was already anxious to speak to him, so I went on to stock the shelves. For the high comics, I stood on my tiptoes to place the new ones and then move the old ones card-stacked behind the new ones so that all were still visible to customers. From the front counter of the store, he screamed "DON'T BEND THE GODD*** COMICS! YOU'LL RUIN THEM! THEY'RE WORTH MORE THAN YOUR LIFE! I DON'T WANT TO SEE THAT SH** AGAIN!" I didn't bend the comics. I fell backward when he scared the crap out of me because I wasn't expecting to be screamed at and he criticized that, too: "Oh sure. Fall into the shelf, idiot." I said "Yes, sir" and finished my tasks. After I clocked out, I took the New Edition comics I wanted to the counter so he could deduct my store credit before writing me a check for the week. I owned what I didn't even do because I was afraid of him at this point and said "I'm sorry about earlier. I will be more mindful. It won't happen again." He said "Alright. Good." I felt like maybe I had earned his respect and that maybe he wouldn't treat me this way again. I was wrong. read more

I'd give it two stars for selection but that just wouldn't be honest. The reviews are accurate, the guy is not nice. You really wonder why he'd go into a business where he has to deal with people when he clearly doesn't like them. He questioned me as soon as I walked in in a very accusatory way "CAN I help you!". Store is laid out oddly and EVERYTHING is in a bag. It's all overpriced, he has $4.99 on $4 books that came out this week and $15 on books that are easily available on eBay for $10. He should do eBay full-time and spare everyone the annoyance, including him. Not welcoming, very odd store, overpriced. Kind of funny experience actually, but it will clearly be my last visit. This is the only comic book store here in North West Arkansas. Nice place, well taken care of, tight walkway, Owner and associates are nice people, great selection. The only drawback for me is that some books are priced higher than fair market value. read more

Coming from my home store down in Little Rock I was worried that I wouldn't find a comic store that matched the quality, consistency, customer service, or knowledge of comics as my home store. I was right, RBB exceeded it! When you walk in you are greeted by a two gentleman that will go above and beyond whatever you need! From the back issues to today's comics this store has whatever you need! Featuring a wide selection of comics, collectors toys, magic cards, a HUGE selection of trade paperbacks, clothing, and more, this store has it all! It really feels like you are walking into a store that is not only anticipating your needs, but is striving to constantly fill your bag with every thing you could want! The staff are personable and knowledgeable about any questions or concerns you may have! Just the other day I brought a comic to the counter that I didn't notice had a slight bend at the top left hand corner and he alerted me of it. He then went and found a better copy and put the messed up one behind the counter! Simple interactions like that are just the beginning of the customer service! Always willing to go the extra mile is something I look for and I found it here. Rock Bottom Books prices are more than fair for the quality and attentiveness that you receive! Many comics are sold on the cover price and the ones that aren't are well worth the extra money! I have no complaints about this place and will continue to be a patron here. Rock Bottom is pretty much the only place in NWA if you're on the hunt for new comics. They pretty much carry all major DC and Marvel new titles es h week. I did mention in a previous post that their back issue selection is low due to lack of space, but they do have a larger inventory they can pull from, but you'll need to call ahead and ask if they have it. I also wrote in the past that prices can be high on back issues and variants. If you are looking for issues that a few weeks old, expect a hefty up charge, ex i was looking to purchase the hulk 181 facsimile reprint (cover at 3.99). They were selling at $7 because that's the going rate. I love supporting local businesses, but when mycompicshop.com sells it at regular price, hard to justify paying the up charge that much for a reprint. But if you're there the week a new comic is out, you're set. But older issues, you will find better deals online. read more

I've been collecting comic books for almost 30 years, and this is the first comic store (or any store) I've ever been to that the owner took the graphic novels I had pulled off the shelf to purchase and started looking them up on Amazon or eBay and said to me he was going to charge me a "premium" over the retail price if they were out-of-print. I literally walked out then. I wasted 45 minutes driving there and an hour in the store browsing for him to inform me of his policy of jacking up prices right before I was ready to drop over $500 in his store. In all the years I've been visiting comic shops all over the nation I have never, EVER had something like that happen. So utterly unprofessional. Obviously this is my last visit to this store. Skip the hassle, the owner is belligerent and nasty to people. I'm not sure who on earth opens a children's toy and comic book store and apparently despises children, but obviously the man picked the wrong line of work. Don't be confused by the astronomically large price tags on the items for sale, the store is clearly a personal museum for the rude owner Alan, and the merchandise is dusty and because maybe it's been sitting there for years? read more

This place is great for all ages! But, it is for serious collectors only! There is a large and diverse inventory full of items with different value. There is a fantastic comic and graphic novel inventory. They also offer weekly/monthly subscriptions and they will special order any old issues and/or rare items. This place is a must see for any comic fan. They have excellent service and they are very knowledgeable. read more

Decent selection of items. Clean inside and prices pretty fair. I like that its local. The young sales associate was very helpful and nice. BUT.....being as there was a price tag over the description of contents inside the box i was looking at i moved it a bit to see. Immediately 2 people were right next to me assuming i was switching tags! My first time there. Plus asked the older man (store mgr) a question and he was VERY unfriendly and rude. These people were rude to my niece and her mother when they came in yesterday, and keep taking down peoples bad reviews. I called and asked to speak to someone so I didn't have to post on here, and they hung up on me twice. My niece is 3 years old and is special needs, the mandate states that anyone under the age of 5 is NOT required to wear a mask. And on top of that my nieces special needs make wearing a mask unbearable for her. The owner of this shop decided it would be funny to make fun of her? How absolutely disgusting. I cannot believe anyone would ever shop here. My nieces dad ended up buying over 100 comics but not at your shop because when you were told my niece was special needs you decided to act like a jerk, yes it's a pandemic, everyone else was wearing masks. But a 3 year old is not required. Please find that man some sort of help since he seems to believe it is okay to mock an autistic child. read more

Great store but the staff is rude as hell. Visited on a weekday afternoon and the person behind the register (thinking he is the owner due to age and time of day) gave off nothing but "f-off" and "go to hell" vibes. Talk about rude. Will just order my stuff online and avoid this wonderful shopping experience. It's a shame too because they actually had some cool collectibles in the store. read more

I've been shopping here since 2003 when I first moved to Fayetteville. The owners are kind, honest and unlike the chain stores they actually know what they have! I come here for my comics AND for action figures and other figurines. I would shop here and keep it local before going anywhere else. read more

My son and I go to Rock Bottom Books every time he gets a haircut across the parking lot in Oak Plaza. The guys who work at Rock Bottom are super knowledgeable about all-things-comic-book and the staff is so friendly. Some comic book stores are kind of, well, comic book snobbish but these guys definitely are not! Great store, packed with comics, action figures & other cool stuff. read more

I was in Fayetteville just for the Christmas season and they were willing to make me a pull list and recommend a bunch of great books for me to read.
