Very rude manager/bartender and terrible service. I don't usually leave reviews, but this experience was bad enough that people should know before going here. When I asked for a shot, instead of just saying he didn't know how to make it, the bartender/manager responded with, "I don't know what stupid shit you're trying to order." Completely unprofessional and unnecessary. Service was also extremely slow even though they admitted it was a slow night. The bartenders seemed more interested in talking and taking shots with their local regulars than actually helping customers at the bar. Near closing time they start forcing people out well before 2 AM. The bartender even brought out a megaphone and started yelling and cussing at customers to leave, and they'll take your drink away before closing if you're still finishing it. Looking through other reviews, it's clear people have been having similar experiences here for years, which makes it seem like the owners either don't notice or simply don't care about how customers are treated. Rock bottom definitely has a dive vibe going for it, and there's nothing wrong with that. The bartender was nice but I didn't notice if they have table service. If you come in from the parking lot in the back you may not notice that this bar is bigger than you think. There's a big game room in the back that you may miss if you don't know it's there. It does have a full bar but very limited in craft beer selections. Would I go back? No, I don't think so. But the 25 year old me would absolutely live in a place like this. I'm just not that guy anymore. If you enjoy it, go for it. read more

What a great little spot downtown. Feels like a local hang out where everyone knows everyone. The service was friendly and attentive. I was told they have karaoke there I believe on Tuesdays. The bar is a pretty good size for how small it appears outside. Plenty of seating and a whole back room of pool tables. I felt right at home with the guy next to me buying rounds for people and everyone laughing having a good time. This is a chill, fun atmosphere with great drinks at great prices. Fun spot and outstanding happy hour. Big space divided by a wall which seperates the wooden bar from the pool tables and what looks like a space for live music. Service was great from the bartenders. Not sure if there are servers but none were working during HH but not a big deal. The folks behind the bar were attentive and patrons were patient. (The bar back was a busy guy who kept the empties clear and clean) Plenty of parking. No menu inside but food truck outside with typical fried bar food. Great cold beer taps and full bar. The womens restroom was well attended and was cutely decorated with encouraging framed pictures. We will return! Personal note from this Yelp Elite - related to a previous really negative comment posted about this place. There is a good reason that Yelp shows the average of ratings of all comments/ratings. When I see a comment that is so disparagingly different than others, I always reference the number of reviews written by that person as well as how many people follow them. Very often, you'll see the one-off extremely negative comment was from someone who is not an active participant in Yelp. It begs the question on whether this is more of a personal vendetta rather than an honest review. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and that's mine but take it as you like. read more

My first visit gets a 4 outta 5. There was nothing wrong with my visit....I had a great time!! The place is just awesome, I cant wait to go back and drink with the family and friends. The barkeep Sidney is a real good time, the bar didn't have much for usual domestic beers on tap but she gave us some samples of some beers she believed would satisfy the thirst and she was on point. The Bombshell Blonde is what we went for, we also had some Jameson pickle back shots, and my sister liked the pickle juice but it wasn't "tickling my pickle" so to speak but it was still good. Since this place went non-smoking it has really improved!! My hats off to those that cleaned this place up. Bartenders have been really good and RB has become a place we go to regularly. My criticisms of Rock Bottom are all small stuff, but for bars and restaurants, the small details matter, at least in my opinion. I'll start with the entrance. For about a month there were often sandbags piled up beside the front door. I understand flooding, but couldn't they keep the bags around the corner? The first time I saw them at night, I thought they were bags of trash. Rock Bottom is a nice looking bar that someone spent a lot of money opening, so you'd think it wouldn't take a month for management to realize this was not a good first impression. Another impression is that it's a neighborhood bar, and yet, after ten or so visits, no bartender has asked my name or engaged me in the slightest bit of small talk. No "Welcome back, good to see you, or how are you doing today." At Rock Bottom, things are backwards; it's the customers who greet the bartenders. For a while, the young brunette bartender would, on occasion, speak to customers. She used to have a bubbly, somewhat engaging personality, but lately it seems that she has taken a cue from the older bartenders and forgotten she works in the hospitality business. Rather than being a neighborhood bar, the feeling is corporate and cold with no personality. Yet even as a corporate bar if fails to hit the mark. There are no procedures being followed when it comes to customer service. Wiping down the bar pretty much doesn't happen. It's not unusual to sit down with a dirty ashtray in front of you and ashes on the bar. That same ashtray and ashes will still be in front of you after the bartender serves your drink. Also, the bartenders don't place a napkin or coaster down (that's the customer's job). The bar top is hard granite. The moisture dripping from a glass of beer stays right there, pooling under the drink until you take a sip and the water drips on your leg and in your lap. And why are the lights always so bright? I've been there twice in the early evening when I said to someone, "Watch this," and then got the bartender's attention to ask him/her to turn the lights down. The nighttime bar that had been lit up like a baseball stadium suddenly became comfortable, almost relaxing. I say almost relaxing because even with the stadium lights lowered the place is still metallic and loud. They don't have anything on the floor, walls, or ceiling to soften the sound. They also don't have smoke eaters. Come on Rock Bottom, these issues are covered in Bar 101. I was there one night talking to friend when a fight broke out. My friend had had a lot of bar experience and pointed out several ways the bar mishandled the situation. One, the bouncers should have been the first on the scene not the bartenders. Two, the guy fighting had been starting shit with customers before the fight broke out. The bartenders should have notified the bouncers to keep an eye on him or, preempted the issue by asking him to leave. Also, after the two guys were kicked out, the bouncers made no effort to block or shut down the loud guy from mouthing off at the other one as he walked back to his car. He could have easily been tempted to either turn around for more trouble or go to his car for a weapon. I'll mention one more issue, the popcorn machine, and then give Rock Bottom a break. In concept it's a great idea. Instead of customers leaving to get something to eat, they can eat a bag of popcorn and continue spending money on drinks. The problem is in execution. From what I've seen, the bartenders pop the corn when they open at eleven and then leave it sitting all day until way past happy hour. The manager should be able to tell his/her employees to pop fresh corn every couple hours, but maybe the bartenders don't listen, or maybe the manager doesn't tell them? One obvious problem is the location of the popper. It's on the opposite side of the room from where it should be. It's too inconvenient for the bartenders to keep an eye on it and maintain reasonably fresh corn. When the bar first opened up two blocks from me, I wanted it to be my new hang out. I even asked for a part-time job. The owner (maybe it was the manager) was very gracious and polite. In fact, I've never seen a bartender, manager, or owner be overtly rude to anyone. They just need to realize that we are paying them, and making us feel welcome is part of their job. I like the bands and musicians they hire, their beer selection, and clean classes. There are reasons to go there, and if they allow me back in after this, I'll continue to go there. read more

Good bartenders. Nice selection of beers. Food truck available if want to eat. Dog friendly, as long as you have a friendly dog. I cannot tolerate cigarette smoke and this place was tolerable for a Saturday night (granted it was early)! Will be back. read more
