Another blessed day at The Rock Church. Sow bountifully.

Your Life is Good Because of Prayers (updated 4/2025) I get that the demographic for The Rock is mid 20's-late 30's of struggling folks. However, everyone in this age range has not fallen to drugs, alcohol or sexual decline. And there's plenty of us who are living a faith-filled, drama free life that's attending and tithing to the church faithfully. Miles. Can you speak to us? My daughter, I tell her, her testimony is blessed-edness. I prayed for her in the womb to be free and I pray upon her everyday. This is why her life is good, benevolent and of goodwill. She receives unexpected favor because of Mommy's prayer. And you know what---we need more testimonies like these. So all can know that God accepts you even if you start with a blessed life. You can learn about life without it being a struggle Unless you're hard-headed. But she's a teen and likes the community so we'll stay. I'll continue to teach the in-betweens of scriptural knowledge and application.

Came here for a concert, so I'll review as a concert venue. Parking was easy with lots of available lots. Staff was very friendly. Seats were comfy. My negative is that they have these tv's and big screens they could have used for the concert, but didn't. Worse, the tv's above us were on a rotating menu, with a bright white light shining brightly during low light moments.

    Amazing worship songs

I have two kids attending daycare every time I come for service. Just arrive 30 minutes early in line before service. It's worth it for Jesus! The music, production, effort that goes into worshipping Jesus works in beautiful ways and I feel lucky to see this church's talents on display!!!!! Keep it up!!!

CONFESSION...I'm an Aetheist and haven't been to a Sunday church service since the early 80s...but I just had to come for The Rock's "JESUS LOVES PORNSTARS" service which had a celebrity guest whom I've idolized since I was six: Ron Jeremy, all 10 inches of him! My wingman Tim was running late. Too scared to go in alone, I waited and waited, but luckily lots of Rock Churchers are extremely late too...hundreds of people kept pouring in past Noon. 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes(at which point I walked in alone)...do y'all have any respect? People were still trickling in at 12:45...don't keep God waiting! So rude! Just go to the next service already! :P I followed the herd into the "Sanctuary"...and WOW! This is Church 2.0: loud Christian rock concert going on, rather than the typical gospel choir, big screens, 4 commercial grade cameras, excellent lighting, state-of-the-art sound system, online and smartphone access...tech-wise The Rock is no joke! If the average church is the Black Pearl, then The Rock is the Starship Enterprise NCC-1701! Its no wonder why The Rock has such a huge following...do you want to be on the old wooden ship armed with ancient cannonballs, or the ship armed with photon torpedoes? Maybe this isn't the best analogy... "JEE...SUSS!" (the crowd shouted this periodically) About 95% of the people were standing with their right hand held up, entranced, singing and waving along with the music...being new to this, I found it kinda creepy. But the lead singer looked kinda like Zach Galifianakis so I found that entertaining. The words are displayed on the giant screens so you can sing along, Karaoke style. The first 20-25min of service is just this rock music... maybe the tardy Rock Churchers just hate this Christian rock band and regularly try to skip it? "JEE...SUSS!" Afterwards a pastor came out and made a few annoucements. This pastor, and Pastor Miles, were both dressed in jeans and casual dress shirts...no penguin outifts at this church! He requested volunteers for the "Traffic Ministry". All Point Loma natives know that Sunday traffic at NTC is a huge Cluster-FUC, times 10. PASTOR MILES: "Please open your books to Luke 19..." Opps! I felt like I was back in 7th grade and forgot to bring my textbook.. :/ Here's some random quotes I remember, not the exact same words...I should've taken notes... RON JEREMEY: "See, I'm a Jewish boy. But when I and die and if I find out its Jesus waiting for me in Heaven, I'm going to ask him to give me back at least 5 minutes of my life back on Earth just so I can go back and punch my Rabbi in the face." (Haha! Hilarious!) PASTOR MILES: "The closest Sinner to you is the one standing in your shoes..." (Hehe! Yup, that's me!) PASTOR MILES, with a sarcastic grin: "Did you know that most porn is watched on Sundays? I know 1 out of 2 men have watched porn, Fo Sho! I know 1 out of 6 of you women have watched porn, Fo Sho! The average age a child first sees porn is 11, Fo Sho!" (I was 6 when I first saw pornography...early start! Is this why I'm so FUCed up as an adult now? Fo Sho! ;-) ) PASTOR MILES: "My former drug dealer is here with his family..." (WTF? That's right Miles used to be a Crackhead! Where is this dealer? I'm in some serious need of marij...er...um, nevermind!) RON JEREMEY: "We got the Old Testament and stuck with it, you guys kept going with a New Testament..." PASTOR MILES: "You see Ron, you just have the beginning of the movie, we've got the entire movie! You need the whole movie!" (Hmm...or one can could say that Christianity has the the first half of the movie, while Islam, which came about around 610AD, has the 3/4s of it, and only the Mormons have the entire movie since they're the newest religion of God? Or maybe Christianity is the bad sequel to a good original movie? (ie. The Phantom Menace? SITC2?) Argue away my religious friends...I love all of you! :) ) "JEE...SUSSS!" I spaced out every now and then as this wasn't as fun as I had hoped...but here's a recording of another service: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bk101xmbtKM&feature=relmfu Pastor Miles speaks with a bit of slang and ebonics...he's that smooth. So if you're a Mtv-educated homie, Cholo, ghetto Asian, or simply don't know the difference between "your" and "you're", you'll have an easier time understanding Pastor Miles than your average pastor. Overall his message was nice: "Love the sinners, hate the sin." (FYI: I don't consider homosexuality a sin.) "JEE...SUSSS!" MINUS 1 STAR: The Rock loves "sinners", but still takes political action against "sinners", such as supporting Prop 8. They also declined to support Prop 29, WTH? Are Rock Churchers immune to cancer? But in conclusion, as an Aetheist, I didn't find The Rock to be nearly as terrible as others make it out to be. I won't be coming back, but maybe if I were single like Tim...there are lots of cute girls(and boys) that attend The Rock!

Ask the Community - Rock Church

Do this church practice church discipline, in regards to a church member or church leader that is living in unrepentant sin?

The Rock Church uses love for correction if you are an employee of the church and depending on the mistake may require one to resign but not be embarrassed or ostracized, not placed on disfellowship like some religions. The worst punishment would be…

The Rock Church is a myriad of mixed races, ages and genders. It's an all inclusive church whose sole goal is to save, equip and send out fellow Christians to help and love everyone. I suggest trying it out and you will know if the Holy Spirit is…

What are the views on Homosexuality now? (I read the reviews from 10 years ago) what about the biblical teachings? The last church I was at liked to point fingers at one sin and close eyes to other sins!

Never been to a sermon but I read their statement of faith on their website. They clearly note their belief that marriage is between man and woman, and of purity before being wed. I have no opinions about the Rock Church, just want to save others…

Immediately I felt welcomed and knew this was a church that provided sermons that were not misleading, even when I did not want to hear it, and kept my attention, which was very important to me. The fact that they provide complementary coffee and refreshments is just an example to the kindness that you see within this church. Although it is small and the parking may not be ideal at times, I understand that they are in the midst of finding a home to accommodate everyone and those new like myself. I always joke around with my mom on the phone and say I will cry if I ever have to move and leave this church because I finally found one that resonates with me. If you are wondering about attending, don't hesitate, the Lord is calling you here, and even if I had to move back... I would drive here just to attend. Stay blessed! -Gabby

In the last 3 years, we have developed strong relationships with friends, been fed spiritually in numerous growth groups, and become plugged in to serve the church in the worship, childcare, and production teams. We love this church so much, we love its people, we love its commitment to spiritual growth and outreach, and we love how it has equipped us to commit to putting Jesus at the center of our lives and our marriage. I highly recommend checking this church out if you're looking for fresh, fun, scripture-first messages. I am biased, but our worship team is next level.
