I booked Rock Creek Gardens for my wedding long before Covid-19 took us all on a whirlwind. As emotional as the pandemic was for brides who had 2020 summer weddings, the staff at The Gardens was so empathetic and communicative during the entire process. There were so many changes during the planning, and they rode the wave with us. We were fortunate enough to be able to have our wedding and reception with very few changes, and everything turned out beautiful. They stayed up on all social distancing guidelines, and even had signs made to remind guests of the new norm that we are all currently living in. My day was amazing thanks to Gracie and her team. My sister and her Army Ranger fiancé (now husband) decided to get married at Rock Creek a few weeks ago. She was super excited to get married and once they figured out his schedule they chose this beautiful venue for their wedding day festivities. They decided to have a small wedding, only 40 people and chose the intimate garden ceremony option which seemed great. The day of the wedding arrived and because this is the PNW a full-on rain storm began. And since my sister purchased the garden package it meant she would be getting married in the pouring down rain. The venue had us move the tables inside for the reception (which we were asked to do on our own). We also had to wipe down the chairs for the ceremony ourselves. After we did this I decided it might be a good idea to go and talk to the onsite person to see if there was any way we could pay to move under the white tent. This tent was already set-up and ready to go at the venue so I thought there shouldn't be a problem if we paid more to move out of the rain. The on-site person told me there was nothing she could do about it and we couldn't pay more to move to the tent. I also asked if we could pay to extend the time we had at the venue since we were running behind, and she said no and that we had to be out of the venue promptly at 7:00 pm which meant no guests and the space completely cleaned-up. I then told her the owner had communicated with my sister that the music was supposed to stop at 7:00 pm and clean-up would happen after that. She said there was nothing she could even when we asked if we could extend time and pay for it.The owner eventually showed up since she heard I was unhappy but offered no new plan or remedy. Shortly after the wedding my sister received an extra bill for $150 for a late departure (along with other small extra fees). Weird, since we literally ran around to get out of there right at 7:00 pm and since they told us we couldn't pay for a late departure... read more

Rock Creek and their team has been fantastic. Kerra and Gracie were helpful and sweet. They gave me such a nice tour and helped some vendor suggestions. One of the best things about this location, is not only are the grounds gorgeous but they offer so much more than just a venue. They help out with being a place you can go for flowers, decoration, catering, and you don't have to worry about moving chairs or taking out trash afterwards. A lot of the other venues don't include the majority of the chair moving and cleanup. I'd rather my family and guests concentrate the most on having a good time than how long they'll stay after cleaning up or how much work they'll have to do on the day of! The flowers were great. I went with Gayle who was their in house florist. She worked within my budget and it was an amazing result. Sunflowers, hydrangeas, and roses! It was wonderful and smelled great. They include a day of coordinator as well! Mine was Vickie White. She was so on top of things! She anticipated for everything and if anything was askew it wasn't for long because as soon as she found out about it she'd be on top of the situation! The venue is also set up for any weather situation. There is a beautiful tent for a reception, and a separate section for the ceremony. If it's going to rain, they have the barn as an option on the grounds. Don't let this throw you off. They decorate the barn and it's amazing! Check out the pictures on their site. If it's inside picture, it's likely the barn. Their decorators and Gayle really know what their doing. In conclusion, they're so helpful whether you're more of a DIY bride or more like me who needed more assistance! It was so nice to have a one-stop shop option for most of my needs. Had my wedding here in mid-August, awesome weather, beautiful venue, the reception tent was awesome, everyone had a great time, and the day of coordinator was great. However a few warnings if you plan to book here, first of all book early, we booked a year ahead and got a Friday as our best option, not a huge deal we were okay with that. Anyways keep in mind this place is first and foremost a business, don't expect them to go above and beyond for you, they know they have demand and they certainly use that to their advantage. First of all the place is pricey and Puyallup's not the best location, especially for out of town guests. Make sure you read that contract carefully because you are allotted a very strict time frame, don't expect that to be flexible. We wanted a little bit of extra time for setup and pictures, (a wedding takes some time to setup), well our contract states that an extra hour of time (which basically means one person has to come out for one extra hour to open) costs $250! They had no other events that day! I urge you to please bring this up to them before you sign, trust me you'll want all the time you can get to get ready there because even with that extra hour it still felt a bit rushed. At the end of the night from what I heard it was a rush to get everything packed and into cars in under an hour, we had to cut it off at 10pm (pretty early but that's probably out of their control). Also they will add a $500 charge if you don't go with their caterer, which we had a bad experience with (they didn't return our emails), luckily our awesome caterer helped pick up that charge (check out Scooters in Renton, amazing food and much more personal business). read more

They hustle you into booking a date using every sales scare tactic known to man. Then once your booked, they could care less about your special day. Yes the venue looks great in the spring, just wait till mid summer. The owner is never around for a reason the venue does not make enough Capitol for him to be in the wedding business. There are much better places to get married either outside or inside, with absolutely better service and staff. I was once told there are three things to offer when selling something. Quality, customer service, and price. You can only have two, if anyone offers you all three they are lying. Rock Creek Gardens offers none of the three, we were fooled. I had my wedding at Rock Creek Gardens this past July and I am still getting complements! Everyday I love my pictures more and more. You can't get a more green, lush, garden look. We booked this venue without even visiting it first. We were running late on booking a venue, called them and they had just had a cancelation for mid summer. It was a risk but I figured if our pictures turned out anything like what was online we would be fine. It was way more then fine. We had some people say they have been to 200+ weddings and thought ours was the best no joke. The venue feels like an all inclusive resort for weddings. I went ahead and booked extra hours starting at 9am, may seem pricey but so worth it! Absolutely no stress! Everyone got ready there, hair and makeup people came to venue. We had a breakfast bar set up and sub sandwiches for lunch. My aunts and family had all day to deal and fiddle with decor. The ceremony site and reception tent are all right there. Beautiful grounds the guests enjoyed walking around during the wedding instead of being stuck in one little room. We had lawn games which they loved. Perks: Free convenient parking is a major plus for guests. Day of wedding coordintor included Cute house with kitchen you can use, and rooms to get ready in. Row boat is available for pictures in the pond. They have a preferred list of venders they are used to working with (photographers, Florists, DJs ext) You can call/email them anytime with any questions Comes with chairs and tables included, you don't even have to think about them. Our wedding Coordinator even offered to bring a small table she had a home. Very homey, friendly, warm, comfortable feeling. Brick floor under the reception tent (not grass), beautiful Chandeliers. We had a sparkler exit and were running a few minutes behind getting it set up. Vicki quickly ran to the DJ and told him to play a few extra songs. Vicki was awesome! She came to our rehearsal dinner all the way up in Bellevue Wa. During the rehearsal she was very professional and really took charge. With 8 bridesmaids and 8 groomsman that was big help. Everyone knew exactly what they were supposed to do. I read a lot of people mentioning and disliking the port potties. There is a real bathroom on the main floor of house and another upstairs which the wedding party used. During the wedding we left the patio doors open and guests came and went as they pleased. People who had a problem with them found the bathroom inside and others used the porta potties. It was a non-issue. Drawbacks: We had to rent the linens from an outside company (that they work with). The process was a bit annoying to me. Being in Puyallup. We are from Seattle, so Puyallup was a little ways down there. But it didn't keep anyone away and none of the guests seemed to mind. I LOVED my wedding at Rock Creek Gardens. It was the perfect setting for the look I was going for. My husband and I decided to do a Thursday evening wedding to save on costs (saved us $3000.00) and we were happy that we did. RGC is a great venue for couples who do not want to do a ton of decorating. They have almost everything that you need like chairs and tables so rentals are needed only for personal tastes. One thing I love is that they have enough chairs to cover both the ceremony and reception. Their staff was very responsive. Another reason we choose RCG was that they have in-house day of coordinators that they assign to you. We LOVED our coordinator. She was absolutely wonderful to work with. Outdoor weddings in Washington always concern me but thankfully RCG has a tent in case of rain. You can purchase sparklers for an exit through the venue and they handle the clean-up and everything. Totally worth the $50. They have preferred caterers and we went with Mama Stortini's and LOVED the food. A few things to watch out for: Bring your own trash bags! You should probably just have a box of cleaning supplies because the venue doesn't supply this type of stuff. RCG is proud of their venue as they should be and they may not allow you to do certain things. One thing we struggled with was during our ceremony we provided babysitting for children. We wanted them babysat inside the carriage house so that they would be contained and easier to watch. We were not told until 1 month before this wouldn't be an option but thankfully they relented when the forecast predicted 104 degrees. The venue has drapery fabric for the arbor and it's $250 to rent. We didn't' go with their preferred florist and I do wish that they had more than one option. My husband and I felt a pressured by the fact that their florist can get in earlier than if you hire someone different. All in all we are so happy with our choice of venues and I would totally book with them again! read more

I found RCG at the Tacoma Wedding Expo. They had large prints up and as soon as I saw the photos I knew this is where I wanted to get married! We went and toured a couple of months later - it was raining - but it was absolutely beautiful, we both fell in love immediately. We didn't tour any other venues because the ones we had booked tours for (for comparison - we we worried about jumping the gun on the first venue we found and loved) had rescheduled our tours. Not something I'd want on my wedding day, so we went with our gut instinct, which was easily the biggest (and best!) decision we made during our whole wedding planning experience. RCG was amazingly communicative and always easy to get a hold of, whether by phone or email. Once we got our day of coordinator assigned, Amber reached out to us and she was awesome from the get go. Super friendly, very organized, and very fun to work with. She kept me reminded of things when I'd forget and really kept me on track. She did practically all of the coordinating with my vendors, I hardly talked with any of them other than tastings/estimates/booking, which made everything run so smoothly. Then come around to our rehearsal dinner, she worked with us since a couple of our bridal party members weren't in state at the time. Finally the wedding day and she killed it! She kept everything on track and I didn't have to worry about anything or even think once about keeping things smooth that day. got married here this past August. It was on the stormy weekend at the end of August. Although the weather did not help, my special once in a lifetime day was ruined for so many other reasons.I was promised things I never received. When i approached April about this she told me she would have Kerra call me because she was in charge of that. When I talked to Kerra she first said that wasn't part of my contract and followed by later saying they never had ever done that before. Yet, since the date I booked this venue I had, had many conversations in regards to this specific thing with Kerra. My day would have been better off without the coordinator that was assigned to me, April. She did nothing but create more problems for my day, when we could actually locate her. She disappeared for long periods of time where no one could find her. When there was a break in the rain she was supposed to be wiping down the chairs so I could get married outside (which was what was discussed with her), but she was no where to be found. Finally my now husband and fellow groomsmen used their clothes which they wore to the venue to wipe down chairs for guests to sit. April's communication with me and the other vendors did not exist. My DJ offered to set up ceremony music outside if I held the wedding off 20 minutes, which I agreed to do. Once he finally set up (and he was with April), he went to plug it all in to find out there was no generator power set up near the aisle. This delay could have been completely avoided had April communicated the power situation with him. Not only that but myself, some of my family members, and the DJ all offered to bring extra generators to help power things for the wedding. April told all of us "no" and that there was plenty of power to run everything. Not only did my DJ ask to bring a generator, he told her the exact wattage he would need. My wedding ended up not having enough power to do any uplight (which I paid extra for), no ceremonoy music (which I paid extra for), neither of my candy tables which I paid extra for could be lit up, my cake carriage/table (which I paid extra for), or my head table could be lit up. Even one section of the chandlers in the tent could not be lit due to the shortage of power. All this could have been completely avoided had April informed us to bring more generators. Our head table which included the whole bridal party was short one chair, which there is no excuse for because there was enough place settings. April never once got up from behind the DJ booth (where she spent the entire night) to help with any of these problems. She had a horrible attitude the entire wedding. Rock Creek Gardens is an absolutely stunning venue but 2 of the coordinators I worked with, April and Kerra (who no longer works for the company), made a bad situation terrible. I understand the weather is not ever predictable,especially here in Washington, but to have a coordinator who could care less about her making anything go smoothly during my wedding is truly what ruined a day that I will never get back . read more

We used Rock Creek Gardens for our daughters wedding in late July. During the rehearsal, the wedding coordinator was CONSTANTLY on her cell phone talking to the other coordinator about the OTHER coordinators clients. Meanwhile my wife, the priest, son in law, and I are doing nearly all the COORDINATING in regards to the sequence of events. I posed the question about an inclement weather plan. The planner made no definitive effort to answer my question. SO, on the day of our wedding, mother nature paid a visit 2 minutes before the ceremony! With 70 guests sitting outside and rain coming down (hard), the coordinators suggestion was for us to sit out the cloudburst and then start. (She was inside the house, out of the weather, texting and on the cell phone nearly constantly doing whatever OTHER than taking care of us!) MY wife, the groomsman and ushers moved the guests into the reception tent, relocated the DJ and we started. We paid over $6,000.00! Normally it would have been over 7K! for 12 hours worth of usage. We originally where on for 8 hours, but for 2K more you get 12 not 8, and the use of their bathroom facilities in a trailer. REALLY 2K for 4 more hours and NOT having to use a porta john! The ONLY reason I give it 2 stars is because of the actual beauty of the venue. 5-7K for a venue, table, chairs, tent, and the use of a house for the bridal party. EVERYTHING else is EXTRA! Not to mention they want you to use their "selected" vendors for photo's catering, DJs and so on...No linens for tables, we rented them from Party City.For all the MONEY you spend I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the coordinator. Unlocked the door to the house and that was about it! THANK GOD I only have one daughter to marry off. If I had another, I would NOT use Rock Creek Gardens. read more
