Fresh greens with fruit and sugared pecans, the best homemade scone I'd ever eaten, shirred eggs that were scrumptious, bacon cooked to perfection and home fries as well as juice and coffee made up this fabulous feast. The setting is lovely, plenty to do and see nearby and a host and hostess that were both accommodating and delightful to visit with. I highly recommend this establishment.

The surrounding grounds are also a gem with a lovely patio, gardens, Mountain View's and a swing! We found our room ( the blue room) to be comfortable & well appointed . Dana and Scott added all the right touches to make for both a good nights sleep and a comfortable hangout spot to rest from a day of hiking. We've stayed in a few b & b's over the years but Heritage Hill tops our list. Dana and Scott are warm hosts, allowing us free reign of the grounds and much of the home so we could relax outside of our bedroom. Dana prepared a delicious, full breakfast to start our day. The egg soufflé was tasty and cooked to perfection. We found the location to be great, a short (maybe 15 minute) drive from southern Shenandoah NP and northern Blue Ridge Parkway. Both offering hikes and viewpoints. There are breweries, wineries, art galleries, scenic drives and museums in the area. We will definitely return to the area as there's more exploring to do --we plan to definitely stay at Heritage Hill again.

This is a great place to visit if you're into fly fishing, for sure! Definitely a nice place for those who want very basic amenities as well, as the lodge is rather basic in what it has to offer. There's no wi-fi here, which is fine with us... No AT&T service and rarely you'll get 3G of Sprint, but there is a slight amount of Verizon Wireless outside. They have a TV with an assortment of DVDs to watch movies. They have a full kitchen and roomy bedrooms that will accommodate 11 people. Bathing was tough here, as the master bedroom's shower stall was so narrow that it's tough to use in a functional way. The bathtub upstairs hardly drained, so you're standing in your waste water - yuk. Speaking of water, the water in the faucets is clearly from a well, which is fine, but it's loaded with iron and smells of that. They have a nice, big fireplace, which they will supply plenty of wood to use. There's no fireplace, but there is an oil burning furnace with a thermostat to supply heat. You are permitted to bring pets, for an additional charge. The history of this place is nice, as it's still in the same family and nearly 100 years old. It's quaint and quiet, especially in the evening. It really does need an overhaul cleaning though, as the kitchen is loaded with all the stuff left from various tenants in the past and the bookshelf is dusty and loaded with lots of books that haven't been touched. Several bulbs were burned out. Again, if you are bringing food, bringing a large family and don't mind the shower issues, it might work for you.

The proprietors are so friendly, the house is big and beautifully appointed. Every room has its own bathroom. Our room was quiet and the king-sized bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast served was *amazing.* Coffee and juice and a starter of freshly cut fruit, followed by a savory and rich frittata with a creamy mushroom sauce and a side of perfectly crisped bacon. The cabin was really clean and tidy, and the view is unbeatable! From our cabin, which was the second cabin, closest to the horse farm, we had a lovely view of the Shenandoah Valley down below. I spent most mornings sitting on the back porch (really comfortable seating there), glimpsing the stunning sunrises through the early morning mist. There are plenty of places to sit in the cabin - a comfortable couch, a rocking chair, and a few other chairs. We found everything we needed - from dishes, silverware, paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, trash bags, etc. The cabin is an easy drive (about 10-15 minutes) to downtown Lexington, and we got a lot of take-out from town to bring back to our cabin to eat (at least for our dinners). Lexington, VA is an easy drive to Charlottesville, Roanoke, and Blacksburg, and we visited all three. Check-in was early enough (we got there around 10:00 a.m.) and check-out was at 11:00 a.m. on the day we left. You really are completely undisturbed up there -- the other cabin is close by, but you really don't interact with the others at all. All in all, this was a wonderful vacation stay, and I would certainly return again when visiting Lexington, VA in the future!

Though it sleeps 6, we would recommend this for one family as there is only one bedroom and the loft upstairs is an open area. There is one bathroom. This could be perfect for a couple with kids. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, utensils, pots and pans, and even had a tea pot. The only thing we were missing was the dishwasher-you have to wash dishes by hand. There was oil and spices already in the cabins for basic cooking. The bathroom was stocked with plenty of towels, shampoo and conditioner, and even had some feminine products provided-which was a real life saver. However, it is close to a shopping area in case you need anything that you forgot to bring. We travelled with an infant and needed to do some laundry-we were able to find detergent without running to the store. There is a huge king bed in the bedroom, two twin beds in the loft upstairs, and a full futon in the family area. The cabin is pet friendly, but you do have to add a pet fee to your total. There is a balcony and a huge deck -make sure you get out at night to see the stars-absolutely beautiful! Make use of the fire pit for complete vacation experience. There is, however, no hot tub-I believe this is only available at the Lazy Acres Lodge, not the cabins.

Being able to arrive the morning before the wedding and spend that day with family is what really made the difference. Most of our family members were meeting for the first time and having a space to meet up ahead of time really brought everyone together. The property was breathtaking. In fact, from the first visit, we instantly decided we had found our venue. Our guests commented on how beautiful the location was. We were really concerned about our guests as it was a long drive from the airport. The feedback we got was that the drive was worth it and they could all see why we chose the venue. The price was reasonable for what you get. I do want to point out that if you're a type A person who needs a Type A sort of situation, you might struggle with this place as they're pretty laid back. I say this as a bonus for myself. I really appreciated the fact that they didn't try to micromanage. They were always available for anything I needed during the planning process but really allowed me to do things my way. This definitely helped ease some of the stress.
