This year our twins turned 5. With Covid, our birthday celebration options were limited. We decided to visit a place near and dear to our hearts, Crabtree Falls. My husband and I visited the falls years ago and tent camped. This year we decided to book 3 cabins for our closest family members to celebrate the twins' birthday. Prior to arrival, Beth-Anne, the owner of the Cabins at Crabtree Falls, was very responsive. We ordered the birthday package, and she went above and beyond to learn about our family and what the twins would like. When we arrived, the cabin was very clean, well-organized, comfy, and perfect for all our needs. Beth-Anne decorated the cabin with balloons, two birthday cakes, signs, and various birthday touches. She even had kids camping chairs for the twins. She took the time to learn their names, write their birthday cards, and even made sure the cakes had 5-year old's candles. These are the touches that make for a memorable weekend- and as a full-time working mom of twins, I was impressed and very grateful. The time she took on the little details really meant a lot to all of us. She also checked on us throughout our visit. She was always around when we had questions and went out of her way to address any issues we had. If you're looking to breathe in the best mountain air; if you want to disconnect from the hustle and bustle (but still have an internet lounge with WIFI available in a pinch); and if you're looking to stay less than a mile from one of the most beautiful hiking spots in VA, stay at the Cabins at Crabtree Falls. If you haven't already stayed here, go ahead and book it. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! The perfect getaway for anyone who enjoys the outdoors any time of the year. It is close to Crabtree Falls and other popular hiking trails. The owners are absolutely amazing and do everything they can to ensure you have an amazing stay. The cabins are extremely comfortable and even have AC for the hotter months! The fire pit, grill and picnic tables are perfect for hanging out with friends and family while the sun sets with amazing views, a cold beer and delicious food on the grill. There are 3 cats (fluff is the best!) that hangout around the grounds and the owners dog, Ruger, who all make great companions during your stay, when they come around! They even have the Priest Lounge- where you will find a ton of DVDs to watch, a coffee bar AND free WiFi with lots of comfortable seating to get some work done- if you must. My wife and I recently stayed here for our 3 year wedding anniversary and it couldn't have been more perfect! We will definitely be back multiple times throughout the year, for many years to come. Our next visit will probably be during the winter when it snows- It will be so peaceful! Like I said, If you haven't stayed here AT LEAST once- you should book right away (their weekend dates fill up fast), you will not be disappointed! read more

We loved out 2 nights at the Cabins at Crabtree Falls and can not wait to go back! We stayed in Richards Retreat which has every thing you could ask for and more! My grand chidren had a blast as did the adults! Beth-Anne is such a wonderful person and was so helpful with all kinds of tips on things to do. We hiked to the top of the falls so beautiful and entrance is right down the street. Make sure to check out the swimming hole only 2 miles or so down the road. So glad Beth-Anne told us about it! We spent hours there swimming and fishing . She even bought us warm chocolate chip cookies at night. Richards Retreat has a hot tub which we thoroughly enjoyed as well as a fire pit where we made s'mores every night. The views of the mountains from the property were so beautiful. It was actually great not having cellphone reception and spend time as a family. If you do need to connect there is a little lounge area open 24/7 on property where you can get free wifi and a phone to make calls for free also. Beth-Anne keeps this area stocked with Kuerig beverages at no charge as well. I highly recommend staying here we made some great family memories ! read more

We rented three of the cabins last weekend for a birthday party for our five-year-old twins and extended family. Beth Anne was a perfect hostess. She found the perfect balance between being extremely responsive and helpful, but unobtrusive. We booked the birthday package and, when we arrived, our cabin was nicely decorated with balloons, signs, party favors, two really good cakes matching the theme of our twin's birthday, and even two little camp chairs for the kids. All three cabins were clean, comfortable, and exactly what we hoped for to have a relaxing, family-focused, non-technology weekend retreat. Though internet and cell service is very limited in the area, the owners have set up an internet lounge where you have free access to wifi and a landline phone if you must, to check on work emails etc. This was a lifesaver for a couple in our party who were in the midst of real estate deals. Bottom line--if you are looking for a peaceful, fun retreat in a stunningly beautiful part of Virginia with access to the amazing Crabtree Falls, this is the place. We completely enjoyed our stay at Richard's Retreat of The Cabins at Crabtree Falls. The cabin exceeded our expectations. The cabin is lovely and well equipped with the absolute perfect location being only a little over a mile to the start of the hike to Crabtree Falls. The breathtaking view from the cabin of The Priest mountain is absolutely beautiful. There is an outdoor fire pit and outdoor eating areas which are great. The accommodations inside are super comfortable, quaint and lovely. It is best to drive to the Crabtree Falls hike parking area because the road is narrow with no shoulder to walk along. We had no cell phone service nor WiFi at the cabin, but there is free WIFI and phone service in the lounge for all of the guests of The Cabins at Crabtree Falls and that access was all we needed to check in with family. We enjoyed being disconnected while in Richard's Retreat cabin and had fun playing cards together. We absolutely recommend this cabin for a family visit to Crabtree Falls. read more

Richard's Retreat was the answer to our perfect Bachelor Party setting. Believe it or not there were 13 of us staying under one roof and it was great!!! The covered front porch got a lot of use as well as the socializing around the big ole farm table inside. Secluded enough for some real privacy and the owner Beth-Anne introduced herself with some oatmeal cookies. You'd think that a bunch of 27-30 year old men at a Bachelor weekend retreat wouldn't be impressed. The cookies lasted about 3 minutes! Plenty spacious, very clean, full of history, and a hot tub to boot. Can't go wrong staying here folks. The BrewRidge Tour, peace and quiet, rustic with conveniences: you name it ... Spent two nights at the Cabins at Crabtree and I was blown away by the peacefulness and beauty. We stayed at Richard's Retreat and felt right at home. It was an absolutely perfect family getaway. I was so excited to make some animal friends as well! They have a dog and a few cats that roam around living their best life. The bathroom was equipped with towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body soap. The kitchen had about every dish and utensil you could think of. The living room was stocked with books and board game. The cabin just had such a cozy vibe in general. The cherry on top for me was the hot tub, especially after a long day of exploring! I highly recommend The Cabins at Crabtree and 100% plan on returning. read more

Such a wonderful trip we had at Annie's cabin! The views are absolutely breathtaking and the coziness of the cabin was everything we hoped over our long weekend hiking trip! Between campfires, hiking and touring the waltons family mountain museum; I couldn't say enough wonderful things about the owners being so kind, their dog being adorable, the cabins being devine and they even baked us cookies for when we got there!!!!! I mean really?!?? Amazing! You don't receive this type of charm elsewhere! Do yourself a favor and book a vacation here next! I think our blood pressure dropped 20 points just being there with those amazing views and nature! Will definitely be back to hike more of the appalacian soon! read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here for my birthday weekend and we loved it! Beth-Anne packed a delicious picnic for us at the vineyard we toured and was very hospitable. We stayed in "Annie's Cabin" and it was very clean and cozy. We did not have wifi or cable in our cabin (which we did not miss at all) but if you need it the main cabin next to us, "Tony's Cabin" had it. We had all the amenities we needed and enjoyed our weekend getaway in the woods. there are restaurants and gas stations on Beech Grove Rd not too far away, and plenty of breweries, distilleries, and vineyards in the area if you want to explore. It has been on my bucket list to go glamping and this place did not disappoint. The sights, the sounds, and all of the lovely homey touches Beth-Anne gave: food for smores and fragrant flowers for our anniversary, made this a trip to remember. The bed in the glamping tents are oh so soft and plush--we almost hated getting up every morning. But there are many parks and trails to keep you entertained. My only negative observation: this heavenly retreat has ruined us for any trip hereafter! Its safe to say we will return! Soon! read more

Really enjoyed our stay. Unfortunately weather was bad, so we didn't get to experience the falls, but we stayed at Annie's Cabin and it was great. My wife and our dog, and the cabin was warm, cozy, and well-kept. Even though we couldn't do much, we had a great time just hanging out and relaxing in the cabin which was ideal for a cold, wet day. Beth Ann is an excellent host. She was communicative and thorough and made sure our stay was comfortable. We'd love to go back and wouldn't even hate getting rained in again. read more

Great weekend getaway! We stayed in Richards Retreat and it was amazing to unplug and just relax. There's a hot tub right off the master, a picnic table area with a grill, a fire pit, and a nice private yard. The cabin was so cozy and welcoming, I loved it. Best Cabin I've ever rented. And I've staying in a cabin in Red Dear Alberta in Canada. The hostess is an amazingly nice person and she and her husband are part of a family that has kept this property for all of us to share. It felt like a blessing to be there. Jack's Place was fantastic! My wife and I spent 5 days there. It is extremely well appointed, with nice, high quality stuff - not the typical low budget hotel appliances. You can get away from the overly busy and constantly plugged-in aspects of modern life without hiking into the back country and sleeping in a tent (which is nice, too but not every night). It's a great place and we will definitely be back! read more

The glamping tent was really awesome. The owners thought of everything. The fire pit and cooking/grilling setup was perfect. The bed and pillows were super comfortable. We appreciated the dedicated five-star bathroom and shower. The location is convenient to a lot of activities, including horseback riding, hiking, restaurants and wineries. We stayed at Jack's Place and could not have had a better experience. Beth-Anne is a superb host and rolls out the red carpet. The cabin was warm and cozy and well positioned close to great hikes and all of the solid breweries/restaurants located along the 151 stretch. We had a wonderful stay in Barbs Cabin. The property was quiet the feeling was peaceful. They were very Covid conscious while some of the establishments near were not so. Just a heads up gas before your final stretch to the property and carry in your meals if you didn't have plans to. Fully equipped kitchen and a swing on the porch you may not want to get up from. read more

Great place to stay! Had everything you needed! We stayed in Richards Retreat, it was very clean and had everything we needed to have a relaxing weekend. There was a grill, fire pit, and a hot tub.
