I've stopped in here several times and each time think I need to come back with my daughter. I finally did that yesterday and think she may have found one of her new favorite stores. The owner, his daughter and the young women who work here were so friendly and helpful in finding clothes that appealed to my 13 year old. I also appreciated that they kept in mind what i would think was appropriate for her since we don't always agree on this. :) I thought the prices were very fair, although she did snag a (super cute) boys lie hoodie that was on the pricier side. Some other brands they carry that she gravitated towards were free people and spill the tea tanks. I even tried on a super stretchy and comfortable pair of jeans (also very well priced), but just wasn't in the mood to buy jeans on a hot August day. I'm enjoying wearing skirts/dresses while the weather allows for it, but may go back in the fall. While the clothes are adorable, the friendly owners and staff are what set this apart from some other boutiques we've shopped in. And that alone will bring us back soon! read more

Cool shop right in downtown Highland Park. I was totally into the shop right away because there was a lot of Beatles memorabilia scattered throughout, plus some cool Beatles tops. I bought one said Beatles shirt for $30. There are a ton of Beatles items out there and I had never seen a shirt with this design before so had to buy it. It's a rare find to discover a new Beatles top. The owner of the shop is just great! He told me how The Beatles got him into music as a kid and his love of playing just stemmed out from there. I could totally relate to the guy because he seemed to connect with music the same way I do. I gotta love a fellow Beatles enthusiast! He was so personable and said if he didn't have a CD we wanted, he'd get it. Aside from the CDs, music DVDs, and band shirts, they had some ladies clothing that was a bit more rock-ish - tanks and tops mostly. Cute items! I have never been to a store with a better staff either. The best store in Highland Park!! I personally love going here, ever since my cousin took me here. There are a lot of Beatles merchandise here, and vinyl records. Cool, right? But Rock N Rags also provides clothing! How could it get any better! The owner (Steve) is wonderful. He helps you with everything. Also, the employees are very nice. They are mostly in high school/college, but they help you with fashion tips. Steve is wonderful because he told me that Rock N Rags never prices over $100. So, everything there is $100 or less. What a bargain! Wonderful clothes, and awesome records $100 or less?! The brands there that they always have are Brandy Melville (includes J. GALT USA), Blu Pepper, and others. Record stores have changed...a lot. Any place that still sells vinyl (and record players behind the counter) gets 4 stars by me. I love nostalgia and people who attempt to preserve the good things from my past. This specialty shop is really quite adorable and fun. It's funny, but when they were in their other location I had no desire to ever stop in. For some reason the new location just seems brighter and more inviting. It's small, but when you walk in you are greeted by a random assortment of funky cool tops, and then there are racks of music CDs and vinyl in the back. But, what you might not know from walking in, is that the owner explained the step up in the way back also operates as a stage for live performances. How cool is that? My two loves put together music and clothes :) They have a good selection of junior clothing all in the two $ range. I bought a cute tank for $22.90 and I'm guessing the other tops were priced the same. I would probably say the clothes would be similar to forever 21. I didn't look at their selection of CDs really closely but It looked like the had some variety and there were three small rows of CDs. The workers were really nice and friendly. This store is an absolute gem. I made the trip up from Chicago (surprisingly easy on the Metra Union Pacific north line) after seeing their clothes all over insta. I walked in and was immediately obsessed. They had SO many different styles and everything was very reasonably priced. The girls working were super friendly and helped me style an outfit for a concert I'm going to and the owner was really nice and thanked me for making the trip. I love that it's a family business but still has the same (if not better) variety of clothes as huge stores like Topshop and Urban. 10/10 recommend if you're in the Chicago area and love cute clothes. read more

It's a small shop, and only half music. However, the owner formerly had a pure music store, so he knows what he's talking about. He's also got a decent stereo setup* and he offered to play records for me if I wanted to hear them before buying. (I took him up on that, which largely made up for higher prices than thrift stores for used records, as I didn't take home a bunch of stuff that was warped or scratched to the point of skippiness.) I'm into classical, which he didn't have much of on display, but kindly offered to let me go look at what he had in the basement. The front half of the store is clothes. The back half is CDs and records. Here are some examples of approximate used record asking prices: Classical = $4 ea. (mint or mint- condition) Ozzy Osbourne Bark at the Moon = $7. Beatles = $18+. He also has a small rack dedicated to Record Store Day releases and another small rack for new records. (ex. Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon 180g = $30) * Rotel integrated amp, JVC CD player, Audio Technica AT60 turntable Drawback: His used record rack is jammed so full that one has to remove a stack of them just to flip through them. Sounds silly, but it takes twice as much time. I think he needs to lower his used prices a few bucks, just to help move some product. That, or sell all the CDs online to make room for more vinyl. It would also be cool if he carried a few vinyl-related items: more record players, cleaners, etc. Bottom Line: I'll go there at least a few times a year to see what new used records he's got. read more

Women's clothes in the front, Records in the back. Has a big selection of used records and some new and out of print records. The new and out of print are expensive though. I found most of them way cheaper on amazon. I think he buys them on amazon and then marks them up like nobody else has the Internet. The used albums are fairly priced. Used records range from collection quality to storage unit quality so really need to look at them. He will play any of them at the register if you have doubts. I will pop in and look while in the area but not worth a special trip. read more

Stopped into this store for the first time today with my 12 year old daughter. Super cute clothes, helpful staff, and a good selection with reasonable prices. Bought some gr8 rompers for my daughter but there were a number of items I wanted to try on myself but didn't have time.
