Now I do not know any other reviewer here but I also am not someone who needs to be pampered. I also recognize when places are short staffed and trying to do their best along with companies that just hire lazy workers. I have gone to the Saginaw Guitar Center multiple times since the Pandemic began, and will be making the hour and a half drive today. I have not once been treated poorly! I have had to wait considerable amounts of time but like I said earlier, short staffed (you can't force people to work and when you do, they are lazy). I was there for specific reasons and understood I would have to wait and did not need someone to tell me that. As for disrespectful employees, you find that everywhere where someone feels their horse is high enough. That's not a company fault, that's an individual fault, so when a company is trying to get people to work understand that, especially in an ERa where people don't want to work. And that is definitely true for any job in sales. Like I want to deal with anyone let alone a Karen. Now I understand that some job environments are toxic and promote that thinking, but is anyone seriously trying to suggest that a major corp is trying to be toxic and deliberately treating you like a beyotch?... if so then you probably are and it is true. Sure you may have your thoughts about Guitar Center but there is no better place that buys back gear or trade ins, and that's my fact! Now I gave 4 stars because they are lacking in employees which does translate into less customer care, but that is all they lack I feel. Some other reviewers seem to have gotten prissy during their learning of Rock and Roll !..! Be clear and concise everytime you speak , otherwise you invite the travesty you blindly seek....aka... people aren't mind readers and don't know what it means when you get puffy. Speak up in person and it might save you from writing a 1 star review.

They say great things about Southtown and shared how they have been in this neighborhood for quite some time. Just yesterday I was speaking to a parent and she had been bringing her kids for over 5 years! Kendra is on staff and I believe the manager there. She is very knowledgeable, fun, and accommodating to all the guests that come through. She doesn't shy away from letting you try any instrument in the store. Dean is also on staff and he is very helpful. No, I mean like, very very out of this world helpful! We actually chatted through Thumbtack to get things arrangeds for my daughters piano lessons. I wanted in home, but he was determined to find a teacher that would be the best fit for our schedule and needs. Here's a little secret about Southtown. I had an experience with a guitarist I found through a Groupon deal at Southtown. It discouraged me a little from playing. But Kendra and Dean really redeemed themselves. Just returned from Southtown Guitar store which is now within the Meijer grocery store on Alpine…read moreAvenue. I had to get the high E string replaced. Dean not only recommended the right string (costs only $1) but also put it on my guitar free of charge. Such a genuinely sweet guy. He has a free 30 mins session which I think I will try out soon. And the guitar cum music lesson store is so brightly lit and well organized. I wish Dean all the best and recommend this place to everybody.

He asked the salesman if he could play the guitar that was one if the more expensive guitars. The guy, who by the way looked like he crawled from under a bridge with a heroine needle in his arm asked him if he planned on buying it. My son who immediately decided, oh I'm being judged by my appearance told him not today. He was then told no you cannot play this guitar. So I wondered if any of the older white customers would have asked if they would have been asked the same question. My son went to Sweetwater and was handed with a smile any guitar, at any price that he wanted to play. So how dare the meth head behind the counter look at us and decide we couldn't afford anything in your store. Your small minded staff is a great credit to why you will stay small. I will be to let everyone I know to avoid coming here. I guess if your a person of color there is no way you can afford to buy a guitar in your store.
