Today, I visited MD West One for a second opinion regarding a work-related injury affecting my…read moreright shoulder, arm, and hand, including symptoms of pain, swelling, purple/blue discoloration, and numbness. My goal was to gain clarity on my condition, as I previously felt I was not receiving clear answers--only recommendations for procedures--despite the impact this injury has on my ability to perform my job. The check-in process was efficient and professional. After being called back, I was weighed and taken to an evaluation room. Approximately ten minutes later, a nurse practitioner entered. She was friendly and took the time to ask detailed questions about the incident. She conducted an evaluation and asked whether my original provider had performed an X-ray of my hand or only a visual assessment. When I explained that only a visual evaluation had been done, she expressed concern that imaging had not been completed. She also stated that, based on her review of my chart, I did not have carpal tunnel syndrome but instead may have a rheumatoid autoimmune condition. This was new information to me and had not previously been communicated by my original specialist. I did note that my primary care provider at Methodist Hospital had once mentioned the possibility of an autoimmune issue but had not confirmed a diagnosis. The nurse practitioner indicated she would step out to conduct further research and return with additional information. Approximately fifteen minutes later, Dr. Jeffrey Tiedeman entered the room. He asked questions that I had already addressed and referenced my visit to the emergency room due to loss of feeling in my right hand. At that point, the experience shifted. He examined my hands and stated that an X-ray was needed to confirm a carpal tunnel diagnosis. I asked whether this could be performed during my visit, and he instructed me to follow up with my current provider instead. I explained that my current provider had not recommended or ordered an X-ray. I asked again for assistance, and my request was declined. It became clear to me that my concerns were not being fully addressed, and I did not feel supported in obtaining answers about my condition. Both the doctor and nurse practitioner then left the room without explanation and did not return. I waited approximately fifteen minutes before realizing the visit had concluded without closure, guidance, or next steps. This experience was disappointing, as I sought a second opinion to better understand my condition and receive appropriate direction for treatment. Unfortunately, the lack of communication and follow-through did not meet those expectations.

I am not a fan of x-rays and was assured that they are "safe". Then the crash were taken while I had my old work boots on (more to follow on that). After telling my wife that her spine is all outnof alignment because of an injury that occurred 30 years ago, which they determined with running a wheel up her spine, they told me that my old injury is causing e issues as well, even though they wheel thing (hooked to a computer) showed nothing in that region. Upon my questioning that, I was advised that it's an old injury (9 years ago) and wouldn't show up anymore..... hmmm very contradicting to their previous statement about my wife's injury. This was followed up by come back next week to look at your x-rays. We come back and were told to sit in a group presentation setting with a pushy sales pitch why they are the best and all the money we spend here will help.us with our deductible so our other doctors visits could almost be free, all this while telling us if we get "aligned" here for the rest of our lives we wouldn't need other doctors except for emergencies.... weird again right?!? Then finally into a private room to meet with the owner who shows us the x-rays and says our hips are not even - did I mention above that our feet weren't even on the ground and we both as mentioned above weren't wearing good shoes/boots, so of course there's a good chance our hips may not look straight if our feet weren't evenly on the ground. Next was another sales pitch of just spend over $5,000 in the next 12 months with us and we will see.what we can do but can't guarantee any results as your bodies have old injuries and may not take the treatment. Let's not forget here comes the family discount of $800 and another $300 off if we pay up front... Finally came the final push I was waiting for, as a salesman of 20 years. "Is the money a problem on your decision to move forward?" SERIOUSLY!!!! You have no idea of my finances and the fact if I can pay 3 years of "alignments " or need to pay by the week is none of your concern after meeting me for 15 minutes and only caring about getting paid instead of focusing on your treatment plan. This was followed up with pushing us into our first "alignment" for another 5 minutes. As if I wasn't on the fence once we hit the constant contradictions and group sales presentation! This is a definite NO for me as I felt like a dollar sign to them and not at all concerned about "healing "my body. We will gladly find a chiropractor that cares about the craft and not just hearing the cash register ring...

He has since helped me with several other ailments, such as sciatic pain, heart palpitations and inner ear vertigo. Dr. Bruce is very knowledgeable in all things related to my health and well being. He thoroughly explains what the problem is, and how we are going to fix it. He also explains how exercise and nutrition help you to heal, and hold your adjustments longer. I can't stress enough how important it is to have a doctor who actually listens to what you have to say, and makes you feel like you are in the right place to get the help you need. I never feel rushed when I'm there. Dr. Muenster makes sure that all of your questions get answered before leaving. The office staff at Meunster Chiropractic is outstanding and very friendly as well. I have always been able to get an appointment, or change an appointment very easily. My family members have also been going to Dr. Bruce for years. Being in the Midwest, it is truly difficult to find a physical therapist who can help treat your pain while also keeping you physically active. There is such a fear around movement when one is injured. This is even more troublesome if you dabble in aerial arts. The Circus Doctor told me to contact Dr. Gelber, and at her clinic at Forward Movement, I found Dr. Sedlacek who took me on as a patient. Dr. Sedlacek has been amazing! When I first started working with Devan, I had sustained a severe back injury in September 2021, and I could barely walk. With Devan's help, I was performing in an aerial showcase by mid-October 2021. While I am still working through that injury, Devan has helped me tremendously and has helped me with other lingering issues I had from prior injuries. Now, I am walking, driving, working out, and doing my aerial activities. Devan has helped me to not be afraid of movement, and I appreciate that my physical therapy program is exercised based. I also prefer going to someone not tied to insurance. With conventional insurance restraints, Devan and I would have stopped working together once I could walk comfortably again, but my goals are bigger than that and I feel I have not only a physical therapist, but also a trainer, haha. If you are looking for a physical therapist who understands that passion for exercise and does not want you to stop doing the things you love, Dr. Sedlacek is for you! I spend most of my time with Rachel and Mike Stodden, and can't say enough good things about them. I've seen a number of physical therapists over the years, and generally, my experiences have been "do these exercises for the next hour and come back tomorrow", making me wonder why I'm even going in to begin with, I felt like I could've gotten the same rehab with a google search. My experiences with Stodden have been quite the opposite. My daily exercises are based off of where I am physically on that day, and what my goals and needs are at that time. I have a newborn baby and a toddler, so there are some motions and functions that I needed back right away, so we focused on those first. Even though I absolutely hate needles, I tried the dry needling to help with my recovery, especially when my back was giving me problems due to compensating with my good arm while my shoulder healed. I highly recommend Stodden Physical Therapy, and won't hesitate to use them again in the future when the need arises.
