Apparently in pre-2018 Sprinters, if a brake controller is not installed, the factory installed harness's converter is not powered and thus the harness does not function. Okay, that's a plausible response and this was unknown to me before they explained. I wish I had understood this at the time as I could have opted to use a simple 7 to 5 pin converter right at the plug to the trailer at a similar or less (?) cost to having them go to the labour and effort to access the taillight wiring. I also don't quite understand why simply powering the factory trailer harness without a brake controller if a 5 or 4 pin trailer connection is installed was not considered as this would have been a simple matter under the drivers seat. Regardless, I appreciate their explaining their rational but I would have done things a bit differently had I more information. Regarding the quality of the wiring work, it was a bit sloppy, and a short single conductor was spliced to lengthen with a different colour wire hidden under electrical tape. The harness was also routed into the interior of the van by breaking off the corner of an interior plastic vent cover behind the taillight and a hole drilled through the floor rather than route the harness out the bottom of the taillight and behind the exterior trim. Again, not terrible and still functional but in my opinion, there was a better way to do this. Finally, the factory harness was dangling under the the van and did not have a blanking plug or any protection to keep water, salt, muck out of the plug's terminals. Maybe this is how Mercedes delivers the van but it necessitated cutting off the plug to access the bare wires directly if the plug is not utilized soon after delivery. I will add a star for BH reaching out to explain and I hope that my response assists with their review. Addendum: BH is correct, I'm doing the wiring for the new 7 pin hitch myself. I figure as a marine electrician with over 35 years in the industry and owning my own marine electrical business repairing and designing electrical systems for million dollar yachts and others I both recognize quality workmanship and have no issue tackling this little project. It does however make me a bit more critical than other people of such things and my standards for workmanship may eclipse others. I'm sure BH is a good company and clearly has demonstrated their willingness to communicate. Yes, the plug was functional until it failed a few years back and I replaced it with another 5 pin style. It's only now that I have a trailer with electric brakes that I looked at the original work to make the necessary plug style changes. If I could offer 5 stars for communication alone I'd do that and I would recommend them as they are certainly willing to listen and I suspect, had the discussion at the time been in more depth, I would have been clearer in my expectations and direction. So as a result, both BH and I are a little wiser.

Open right up to 8PM on weeknights, when your in a bind, and work on your car yourself (or know people who work on cars) and need that particular part I always think of Lordco. You can go OEM on things, but sometimes that is not in your budget, and in most cases at night, those places aren't open for you like this place is. For an average Joe like me this place isn't pretty, but for any car-nut, this is probably some sort of candy store. What you see in the front is not all you see as they have people here who know cars and if they don't, they pull up their computer to find you the corresponding right part you need. Just have the knowledge of the exact part or item you need, with you year and model of vehicle. They usually provide you a few prices due to selection, whether you want aftermarket, or something that is similiar to OEM. Deep into the heart of industrial area, know where you going before you come here (have the GPS on) and you maybe delayed due to the fact this place is close to the main train tracks. On this night when we came here we were stopped by two trains, one when going, one when leaving.

This review comes down to a $30 windshield to cowl seal. I purchased one to replace my aging seal. Unfortunately there was a fitment issue. When I returned to Gemini and asked, (even showed them on the jeep) they said it was not right and did not understand why. I live an hour and half from them, so I purchased another in hopes that it was a one off manufacturing issue. On the receipt of this purchase they hand wrote that if it did not fit, that they would refund without any issues. Fast forward to 3 weeks later. The replacement did not fit, I eventually ordered an OEM seal from the dealership and it fit perfect. I called Gemini to let them know I will be returning the two seals and using the credit towards another more expensive item... I was told by the owner that under no circumstances will he accept the 'used' items back. When I mentioned that it was hand written on the bill that it would be accepted back, he avoided it and then told me that I return everything I purchase. This was news to me. All of the other parts were securely on the jeep, not sure how I could have returned them! Well, accept for the three wrong parts I was shipped by them in the past... Wrong sizes, completely wrong parts and for a different vehicle, etc. In Short, there is no customer service or loyalty for existing customers, and I recommend dealing with an outfit like 4wheelparts.com instead. Its not the money i'm out that is the issue, but the principle.
