I had 4 roof repair companies come out to give me an estimate. It turned out, I had a leak around one pipe jack. Most gave me the option to seal around or replace the whole pipe jack and seal. The prices varied, but a coupe wanted to charge me double the others for pipe jack replacement. Finally, I got one last quote from José at Legendary Roofing. He gave me such a detailed explanation of the repair and my options. He charged me the same as the lower end quotes I received for the pipe jack replacement, but he also replaced all the pipe jacks on my house and did roof maintenance for that price. He also noticed some broken shingles from a tree rubbing against my house and replaced that too, all for a great price. I felt like he cared and took his time. And he showed me detailed pictures of everything done. Now, in 2020, he was the only one I called when I had a leak in a new area. He provided great detail, showed pictures of what was happening and showed me in my attic as well where a potential new leak could happen. He even gave me the option to seal the problem children for free versus replacing the plywood and shingles. I went with his recommendation to replace the plywood and shingles, and he also included some vents to my attic/roof for the cost. The repair was complete two days later.

A three-story ladder fell on my shrubs, damaging several, and worse -- it also fell onto my brand-new AC unit, bending the top grill. Since then, the ventilator has been rotating only millimeters away from the edge on one side, at risk of scraping. On top of that, there were permit issues. It took multiple emails and calls from me -- both to the company and the permit office -- to get it straightened out. They tried to tell me that "approval of the drawings" was the same as having the permit approved, which was not true. The confusion dragged out the inspection process unnecessarily. They never offered to fix or compensate for any of the damage. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend them.

On completion, the roof did not pass inspection by a licensed TREC (Texas Real Estate Commission) inspector on Agust 17, 2024. Also, during installation, it rained into my home even though the owner was alerted to a coming rain storm. He assured me the roof was completely sealed, but it wasn't and there were no tarps on site to cover the roof. Severel rooms in my home received damage from the water and the insulation in the attic was destroyed. Brian did repairs on September 20, 37 days after original installation, and again on September 20. On September 27, Brian finally went on roof to see for himself the job that we were complaining about. When he came down, he said "It is SO BAD I have to get another crew". He had never sent out an experienced roofing crew, just handymen, and repairs were not done correctly. The roof failed another inspection by licensed inspector on October 30, 2024. More repairs were done in November, and another inspection was done in December. There were still deficiencies. So after 5 months and 3 inspections, my roof is still not acceptable. Brian said my roof was completely sealed when I warned him of approaching rain storm. It was not and there were no tarps on site to cover roof. Said roof vents covered by insurance were replaced, but two independent roofers said they were not replaced, just painted over. I'm Byron Davis, a retired professor emeritus at South Texas College of Law, Houston. My wife is also retired as a professor of political science. We bought our present house in 2015, in Carlton Woods Creekside. The builder was Croix Custom Homes. We are the second owners. We noticed immediately the house would not cool properly in Texas heat. After $25,000 we eliminated that issue. Within 6 months we had a major roof leak. The roof repair company told us the roof underlayment was not installed properly and leaks would continue, unless the roof tiles were removed, the underlayment was removed, and a proper underlayment was installed. I learned that the underlayment keeps the inside dry without leaks, and roof tiles protect the underlayment. We were skeptical, after all, we lived in an upscale neighborhood with a premium home builder. But, it was correct advice. Over the next 9-10 years we had multiple leaks. Again, the same advice. Replace the roof. In 2025 we decided to extend the master bedroom closet, and to replace the roof. i got several bids, Roof Concepts was the only company to recommend removing the existing concrete tiles, install the proper underlayment and reinstall the existing tiles. As Brian said, " the roof tiles are ok, let's replace the underlayment". This has been a difficult process. But Brian keep me informed every step. They have done an excellent job. Hold on...we're not finished. We also accepted their bid for an addition to a master bedroom closet. Again, the quality and commitment continues. We are not finished yet, but we are close.
