We hosted a baby shower there yesterday for around 90 guest and it was amazing, the food was incredible - Maria was so helpful and had great suggestions in helping placing the favors and dessert's and photo. The bartender was awesome. The room was clean and the views of the golf course were an added bonus, the Dad and the granddads and the God Father golfed in the morning while we set up it couldn't have gone better. Highly recommend if you want a memorable perfect day! read more

I attended a wedding recently and was extremely underwhelmed. My child was expecting a chicken finger dinner which never arrived so he ended up ear a roll for supper. My lasagna was luke warm which made it difficult to eat. The woman who claimed to be the event manager/ caterer was unprofessional and exceptionally rude. I do not recommend having your event there. read more

I recently hosted my daughter's baby shower at the Rockland Golf Course. Smith's Catering handled the event with such expertise. Maria was unbelievably helpful and her staff were both professional and friendly. Tim put out a spread that was beautifully presented, piping hot, and delicious. The bartender worked her butt off with a smile and never broke a sweat and the function room and bathrooms were immaculate when we arrived. The event went off seamlessly and I cannot thank everyone enough. I will definitely be hosting future events at the Rockland Golf Club. read more

!!WARNING!! If you are a bride then you don't want to book your wedding here! My daughter's wedding was there and it was nothing but miserable working with the caterer Maria. She was so unprofessional, rude and full of sarcastic insults towards us, it became unbelievable. As we, family and friends, were setting up the room decor the rude remarks coming from her left us shocked. We had to bite our tongues for the wedding was only hours away. The final straw came when they did not have the chicken fingers and fries meals, 11 kids ages 3-9 had no meals! When I asked Maria where the kids meals were set up she said there were none and didn't know there was suppose to be any, (I have the supporting email that she knew). I could not believe it! Maria did not offer any solution to remedy this and then still charged us for the 11 kids meals. I could go on with all that we had to endure, but trust me, you don't want to book there. A wedding is someone's most special day and nobody should be subjected to the things that we were. It was too late for us to change the venue or I absolutely would have. read more

There was a post of a 1 star review concerning a wedding from Sharon. We looked into this posting and Sharon forgot to mention that the venue caught the party bringing in their own alcohol [against the law] blocking our ATM machine so guests could not get cash for their [non hosted bar at this wedding] due to they tried to supply their guests with small bottles of alcohol, it got so bad that the DJ had to stop the music and warn everyone that they can not drink alcohol brought in by the wedding family. If we had to do it all over again, we would have never allowed this party to book a wedding at our incredible venue. read more

I've played this course several time over the years, however it is in the worst shape I've ever seen. The reviews for 2021 are so true! What ever happened to this course and who ever is responsible for the mistake made concerning the course should not have a job, the money that need to be put into the course to get it back to where it should be will cost the owners big bucks. Perhaps discounts should be applied to greens fees. For those who have taken their hard earned money to buy memberships should receive a discount for 2022 based on the current course conditions endured for 2021. read more

A par 3 course set in a large grove of Oak trees. Just because its a par 3 course doesn't mean its a pitch and putt. Small, well manicured sloping greens and holes that vary from 90 yards to 240 yards will make you use every club in the bag and challenge every skill level. The day we played the course was full of older players and realized this course is a godsend for older players who lack the length to play a regulation sized course. Seniors who hit perhaps 120 yards off the tee were still able to reach the green in one or two shots even on the longest holes instead of the 4-5 on a regular course. Par is 60 owing to the longest 6 holes are regarded as par 4's. These measure from 245 yards to 210 yards. A very enjoyable round. The price is reasonable. Another advantage to being a shorter course is walking is allowed and the vast majority of players we saw were walking. The staff was very courteous especially Karen in the Pro shop and Chris (the starter) . The practice area was excellent featuring a large putting green and a sand and chipping area. I look forward to playing there again in the future. read more

First off let me start by saying that this course is way to expensive for the green fees, the carts are old and beat up. The woman in the pro shop was mean, the starter was not very helpful, as he stated he would say something to the folks, but to no avail, as he did nothing for helping with pace of play.... twosome in front of us took 20 minutes per hole. Just was not impressed for the rate they charge you. Oh and to answer Kevin...... The MANAGER, the bar was not open at stated time, they also were out of the advertised Corona, and Pizza Warmer was unplugged a clean... no Pizza. Sorry if the truth hurts. read more

I hit up the course today for the second time and had the pleasure of playing the back nine during my visit. I very much enjoyed the back nine over the front nine. The course was busy during our 1:30ish tee time but we never had to wait to tee off. This is a great course for the price, especially at the 9-holes rate. Some holes are challenging at times for myself (a little more than beginner) while the other are just right for my skill level. My in-laws frequent this course and I can see why. I'll definitely be back next time I visit. read more

I have been playing Rockland Golf Course for at least 50 years. It was always a challenging par 3, a gem of a course. Over the years it has attracted a loyal membership of men and women who love to play. Sadly, due to horrendous miss management the course has deteriorated while management has increased fees. The daily running of the course allows 2-somes back to back followed by 6-somes and no rangers to speed slow play. The members are constantly harassed for their play but the public is allowed to break the rules. The latest fiasco w/ the greens being blamed on a chemical supply company makes little sense. If true, shame on those who did not read the directions. It appears more likely that the problem was not the watering system. I believe dumping chemicals in a pond with no EPA permission is faulty at best. I cannot believe a single chemical can kill one type of grass and not another. The sprinkler system did not leave footprints, dead circles, and random patches on the greens. The decision to allow the circus on 7/24 was a perfect demonstration of how little management cares about it's many members; trucks driving out in front of players, barrels placed in the middle of fairways, trucks driving where carts are not allowed (left side of #3 green. If, after this, you want to revoke my membership, shame on you for ruining a gem of a golf course and shame on you for chastising the loyal members who really care about their golf course. If you don't want to run a golf course, sell it to someone who cares! read more

Super fun par 3. Full 18 not the typical short 9 hole courses. Usually great rates as well. You will also need a few longer clubs then you would think. I think a few of the par 3s are close to 200yds or more. I only say this because I showed up with a PW as my strongest loft so there were a few holes I had to lay off it a bit to be sure I didn't fly the green ‍ read more

Not a bad little track, played 18 today and enjoyed it. First, don't be fooled by the number of holes - it's a par 3 course (albeit a long one). Second, I'm going to rate it against other par 3 courses I've played rather than against full courses in the area. A buddy and I played 18 with a cart for $32 each, which isn't bad. To be honest we thought it was a full course when we booked the tee time. The staff were all very friendly and the ranger seemed like a great guy. You can tell this is a place frequented by regulars, which gave it a nice laid back vibe. The course itself was in pretty good shape, although some of the tee boxes were a bit patchy. The bunkers were consistently below average and borderline unplayable in some spots. The design is typical of a par 3 course - straight on holes with small greens that put a premium on accuracy. Water in play on 2-3 holes IIRC. Some of the holes are LONG! Around 200-220 from the back tees. I thought the greens rolled really well, especially on a damp morning with a lot of traffic. Kudos to the grounds crew for putting up with tons of divot and spike marks left by the weekend warriors. Overall Rockland was a nice course that was in good shape, perfect for a laid back (and fast) Sunday morning outing. read more

Let me start first by saying that I am a lifelong Rockland resident of 63 years. I learned to play golf @ RGC through the town park program when I was about 12. Back then golf wasn't as popular so we would head out on summer mornings around 6 am and have no problem getting in a fast round. I remember showing up and the sprinklers would be flowing with the sun coming up and how beautiful the course looked even to a 12-year-old. Over the years I have continued to play at RGC and have seen many changes, some for the better (new clubhouse) and some not so good. When Charlie, the previous owner decided to sell the course I saw the conditions start to slip a little. When I heard that the current owner, The Sterling Group was purchasing the course, I was excited to know that they manage 7 golf courses and was expecting big improvements. Unfortunately, over the past few years, the conditions at RGC have declined to the point of embarrassment. The sand traps are top dressing over hardpan with a pie crust depth. The trees lining the fairways and tee boxes are never pruned back and almost create a target golf effect. The fairways have far too many bare spots to hit an accurate approach shot from without playing a preferred lie or "cheating". Lastly, the greens. In the past, RGC had some really nice greens. Recently though, they have shrunk considerably in size. Not only that, but they are dealing with an algae problem that has ruined approximately 3/4 of the greens. When the current owners are questioned on the conditions, they repeatedly deflect the criticism to the supplier of their landscape products and the patrons at RGC. How about you do your homework before applying an unfit product on the grounds? After 50 years of patronage to RGC, I will be looking elsewhere to play. There are plenty of local courses around that greet you with a smile and not an undeserved privileged attitude. Please sell the RGC to someone who has a little pride and whose interest is not only financial! read more

Played here on Fathers day at 6:20 am.Charged us 50 bucks (par 3) Called it Holiday rate..Go to get in carts they are wet.There were 2 towels both sopping wet.Asked for towel goilt the eye roll..50 bucks mind you..Then get to first green covered in leaves\Debris..Holuday rate but the guy with the leaf blower is off I guess.There was still the trash from the night before Have a little pride in your place. read more

Played Rockland today and found ourselves in the middle of a tournament that we weren't participating in. Apparently the woman that booked the tournament didn't send the memo to the rest of the staff. We were told that we'd have to wait to play the back 9 because ALL of the tournament players started from the 10th, I've played golf for well over 30 years and have played in many tournaments but have never seen 40 -50 players stacked up on one hole, it was ridiculous. My partner and I had waited almost an hour to continue the back. Several of the players from the tournament offered to let us play through but it was their day and we didn't want to push the pace which was unbelievably slow because the tournament kept stacking up. The management either has to close the course to the public for a few hours to let tournament players play or don't invite tournament play. Very disappointed in the way the course handled this craziness but I have to say that the course itself is in very good shape, greens are well manicured and the fairways are mowed in what appears to be two rough heights and a smooth low cut. The staff at the restaurant and bar couldn't have been nicer and they all apologized for the "screw up " this morning. We will play again but definitely call ahead to see if there is a tournament scheduled.A shout out to the guys playing the tournament, I know they were all firefighters from Boston they were very pleasant to us, in fact they apologized for holding us up and we assured them that it was not their fault. read more

played it again this past week, confitions are ok. this time, no one followed us around, but we were hoping to see a ranger on the course. There was a slow threesome n front of us and when they actually caught up to a 4 some of seniors it made for a miserable back nine, everyone behind us were 2 somes and complaining. I wont play this course again simple due to 1. 30 mmiles away, 2. way too many slow play experiences the 2 times I played there. 3. The golfers lack etiquette. but it is a cheap course...... so I shouldnt expect too much.. read more

Maybe it was the fact that I don't normally play par 3's and when I have they have typically been very short yardages. Rockland was different in that the length of the holes and the size of the greens were what you would find at a regular 6500-7200yrd course. Tee box options were numerous so the lengths of the holes could be tailored to the strength of the golfer. Club house was decent and the course very mature. Our only complaint would be how hard and dry the tees, fairways and greens were. It was very difficult to stick a green with a well lofted shot. To stay on the greens you had to shoot to the front and hope the rolls would work out. Since our home course has well irrigated greens this was a big adjustment. The fact that we were able to play 9 holes in just over 1 hour was much appreciated. (Unfortunately we didn't think we would have time to play 18 when if fact we did). Groups in front and behind all kept a good pace of play. Hard to loose a ball at this course which probably helps the pace of play as well. read more

First let me start by saying that when I first saw this course on the golf Now App I didn't realize it was a Par 3 course...but that's on me...I didn't realize it until after I paid and grabbed a score card...again that's on me. As soon as I grabbed my cart and went to put my clubs on it a Ranger came over and told me that I should just skip the first hole because there is a foursome just teeing off and to quote him "they are slow as sh!t". So I proceed to the 2nd tee box...which is a shared tee box (with the 5th hole I believe). I look and they have the sprinklers on watering on and around the green...with a worker standing there. The Ranger approaches me again and says "I don't understand this...they had all last night and early this morning to water!" The sprinklers shut off and I start my round...I arrive at the 4th tee box...this one is shared with not one but TWO other holes...the 6th and the 13th...there is a worker cutting the grass in this tee box and I look down and the markers to dictate where the Blues and Whites are for the 4th hole are gone...he moved them to cut the grass...I ask him Where I should tee off from For the blues and he replies "Ummmm...any where right there is good" I have no idea of distance...and because the size of the tee box...he proceeded to keep cutting grass while I'm teeing off...this became a theme of the day...almost every hole there was landscaping and watering going on. Makers in the tee boxes being moved around because of grass cutting...mind you this wasn't first thing in the morning...I was teeing off at 9am...the course had been open since 6am...I finally gave up at the 13th hole. And mind you they had probably approximately 10 grounds crew people. I have golfed for over 20yrs and at many golf courses...I have never experienced anything like this anywhere else. I definitely will not be going back...and I will share this story with my golf buddies. I do want to say that the course itself is in good shape. Fairways were pretty nice and the greens were as well. But that won't persuade me to come back. read more

Yesterday I visited the course around 6:30 P.M. expecting to play a couple holes of twilight golf at a cheap price. When I arrived at the course there was no one in the club house and I did not see a starter. Being so late my friend, who also came to the course with me, and I figured that everyone had gone home. We went to tee up and while we were, a woman asked if she could help us. We explained that we did not know if there was anyone to pay and quickly made towards the building to pay. After we were told to pay at the bar we simply asked this woman if we could play the back nine, she gave quite a bit of attitude. The two of us laughed it off and continued walking in to pay when we were told by the woman that... "If we wanted to keep laughing we could just not play at all." Once this was said I told her that we were all set on playing and left the course. This is a course I have played since high school on a weekly basis. After this experience I will not be returning and I certainly will no longer suggest it as a potential course to play with friends. read more
