I purchased a nice frame and had my prescription filled there but had to have my lenses corrected due to the wrong prescription from the doctor and it was not a problem. A hidden gem. I've never been an optical shop that felt so personal and not a factory. I went in for a repair after banging my glasses on an open washer dryer door, and George worked his magic on them. Went back because a screw came out of my glasses. While anyone could have put a screw in to fix this, George and his attention to detail said "can you leave them with me for a week? I'll get you the exact screw from the manufacturer." The glasses came back to me as if they were brand new, he tightened everything up, gave them a deep cleaning, as well as cleaning equipment and a new cloth. He does it right, he takes the time... The gentleman who owns the place was kind enough to make a repair on my wife's Prada sunglasses, free of charge. It only needed a screw, but he still needed time to search through his stash of old screws, he would've been justified in charging me a small fee, but he waved it. This shouldn't be everyone's expectation going in, but it was a nice treat nonetheless. read more

If you can afford it, go to Rocklin. This place was originally owned by a husband/wife optician/stylist team who were absolutely experts at what they did. Michael and Gail were the best of the best in the optical industry. Unfortunately, tragedy came knocking on the beautiful (and heavy) glass door of their optical shop and they are no longer the purveyors of fine eyeglasses. However, the two new owners, whom I am not sure are husband and wife (although I think they are), are pretty good at what they do, too. They provide the same great service by not only making sure your glasses are professionally cut and measured, but they provide excellent styling tips. They understand each step towards making a very important purchase: not only are they very patient as you try on as many pairs of glasses you possibly can and give you feedback on each, but they make sure to keep a copy of your prescription on file, they let you select your own glasses case, they provide you with cleaning supplies and tips, and they make sure your frames are properly adjusted to fit your head perfectly. Although they are pricey I would definitely go back because the customer service after the sale exceptional. I took back a pair of sun glasses that the arm had come off due to a screw that was lost. Nicest guys in the business! As a long time resident of Montclair I strive to visit locally run businesses and Rocklin is one that remains on my rotation for numerous reasons. They are kind and helpful, have a wonderful selection of sunglasses and prescription eyewear and are reasonable and knowledgable. After using them to purchase a brand new pair of prescription eyewear for my boyfriend I am comfortable going to them for all my eye wear needs. My experience with Rocklin opticians has been great! The first time I met George and Idania was when a lens fell out of my Ray bans, I stopped in and asked if someone could help me out, they were both very kind and were happy to help, not only did he quickly repair my sunglasses but he tightened the arms and cleaned them for me as well ! Then he told me it was a courtesy and there was no charge! My next experience was a few weeks later when the rubber nose pad on my favorite pair of Maui Jim sunglasses finally gave out, Idania kindly took down the model number said she'd order new nose pads and give me a call when they came in, a few days later I received a message from Idania that they were in and she included the hours they were open, they have saturday hours til 530. I stopped in and George welcomed me and my dog and said it would just be a few minutes. And again he tightened the arms, put the new nose pads on and cleaned my glasses! And with no charge, only a handshake they wished me a good afternoon ! I look forward to comming back to Rocklin for any optical services my family needs in the future. read more
