My last pair of eyeglasses recently broke so I went to Rocklin for the first time. In the past I always got my glasses either from Costo or the shops at the mall. Costco offers great prices but their lenses are the worst I have ever had. They got scratched up pretty quickly. The shops at the mall always make me feel like I'm getting ripped off, probably because I am. I had walked by Rocklin many times over the years and always admired the frames on display in the window. When I walked in, I saw that that they carry a variety of frames, all of which are very stylish and fine looking. I tried on a few pairs and then George made a suggestion just from looking at me. The glasses he picked fit me perfectly and match my style very well. The only issue was that the color of the frames was a bit light for my taste. He placed an order for the same pair in a darker color and they were ready in just a few days. This shop really exemplifies what I love about Montclair. The whole experience was very personal and I never felt any pressure. When I go to the chain eyeglass shops for one pair of glasses, they don't stop pressuring me until I buy two pairs of glasses and a pair of sunglasses. George was very friendly, honest, and personable. I certainly don't think I'll be looking elsewhere for my next pair of glasses. read more

Great service and selection. My mother-in-law got new lenses put in her frames when she moved to the area about a year ago. When the frames broke, she took them to Rocklin to see what they could do. Most places would have probably told her she needed to buy a new set of frames, especially since she didn't even buy the frames there in the first place. Instead, they fixed them in only a few minutes, and wouldn't even charge her. The owner really seems to care about his customers, rather than trying to squeeze them for a sale. If you're looking for a new set of glasses, I highly recommend them. George and his wife have the coolest eyeglass shop in montclair, not only are the frames cutting edge and the lenses hand crafted on-site by George himself, but the shop is super cozy. The frames are also out in the open which is always a plus as I like to try on A LOT of different styles before making such a big decision. But the best thing about this mom & pop shop is that they are so friendly and warm when you come into the place and they go out of their way to accomodate you and make your expierience great! read more

We've bought our glasses here since we moved to the Montclair area in 2000. We were customers of the previous owners, Michael and Gail, until Michael's death and the sale of the business brought in a new optician, George Lara, and his wife Idania. Michael and Gail were wonderful to deal with, and George and his wife carry on this tradition. We're still going to Rocklin after all these years because the service, skill and selection really can't be matched anywhere. I like unusual glasses in a variety of colors and Rocklin always has the best selection, from companies all over the world, not the usual generic boring glasses you see everywhere. I have gotten more compliments on my orange/patterned glasses than on practically anything else I own! I have progressive lenses and also wanted my glasses to have the Transitions feature--no problem. Even if you have wonky eyes and need unusual adjustments in the lenses, George can handle it. He's thorough and careful. The service is great, as well. George and Idania are personable (a great team!) and we enjoy talking with them every time we come in for new glasses or just to have an adjustment made or a nose pad replaced. We all like to reminisce about the loss of that Montclair institution, The Stockpot, where we enjoyed wonderful home-made soup for years. (Note to restaurant people in northern NJ: The Stockpot's basic model of soups plus sandwiches, salads, quiches and homemade desserts is a good one, so please open "Stockpot II" somewhere in Montclair! ) But I digress. As you can see, I love Rocklin Styling Opticians and recommend them highly!
