I enjoy working out. It gets my day started immediately on a positive note. I can give more to my family, employer and friends. So, what can I say, I'm a little bit of a snob when it comes to gyms. I have high expectations because this is not only where my money goes, but where I start my day. I will try not to turn this into a short blog, so let me break down my review of AFA into four categories: 1. Access: Convenient hours of operation is 4 AM - 11 PM, 7 days a week, open on ALL holidays. Want to work out on Thanksgiving before you stuff your face, AFA is here for you! You get a nice blue fob and access it anytime your heart desires. No need to wait for anyone! Forget your fob and it's 4 AM, don't panic! Happened to my friend and she was buzzed right in. 2. Equipment: Up-to-date equipment, boxing bags, mats, TRX, free weights, assisted weights, etc. Plus, they are always adding new things! I have yet to see any equipment down for use. 3. Cleanliness: Okay, here is where my snob side comes in. I pay for something, I expect it clean and usable. Of course, there is only so much you can do when people are working out, but even then, equipment and benches were clean and weights put back to where they belong! It's funny, but there are video footages of the owners cleaning the floors! I was like... WOW!! 4. Security: Because I work out so early, I have a concern about safety. Cameras, cameras, CAMERAS everywhere! Inside and outside. Well-lit externally as well! I was even shown the live footage at the gym as well as on their portable business device. What I did not expect... during my tour and using the gym for about 5 days, I was able to chat with Tyler and his fiancé Lou the entire time. They were both very transparent about AFA! The reason for starting and their vision for the gym and fitness community. Tyler talked about fitness education and broke things down for me. Lou talked about membership, access, security and everything else you can imagine to ask. And boy did I ask her questions! You can see and feel their passion shining right through their smiling faces! They are proud of what they are doing and it shows with how they care for their establishment as well as their members! So... I joined the family! My overall review... OUTSTANDING! Don't wait to visit Absolute Flex Appeal. I am happy to be a part of the AFA Family!!!! Traveling 30 min each way is completely worth it (I have a huge gym 5 min from my home). The past couple months have been great. Tyler and Lou are awesome owners, super motivating and kind. They work with you to make sure you know the ins and outs and make you feel at home. 5-10pm access via keycode allows you to work on YOUR schedule and not the office hours, brand new equipment, assault bikes and everything you need for an ass kicking. Now, bear in mind this isn't your standard gym, while you get the bells and whistles with top of the line equipment, you also DONT get the luxury of a Big Gym, No locker room, no spa, no A/C but you get the self push that comes with getting over those challenges and really hitting that next level. The also offer personal training with a TON of awesome trainers, or do what I did, meet up with a buddy and make the gym yours! Affordable rates, good location (pretty far for me but worth it) and state of the art equipments means ill be back for a long time. The music is Loud, the fans are on, and like i said, you get a push from yourself that you might not know you had. If you don't like the music, or the side talk, bring headphones and go into your zone and get your work in and get out, no need to get into the rest of it, thats the beauty of this facility. I don't get how someone wouldn't take control of their own workout, towel, bottle, headphones, get in and own it, otherwise you leave it on the table. This gym is designed for the user to maximize THEIR time, corporate gyms give the support that gives you a "Feel good vibe" just for walking in, here you do the work and leave satisfied. Also, the "too cheap to provide A/C" comment i read earlier is simply laughable, If you want ALL of the amenities, guess who isn't getting the lowest rates for a private gym in the area more. She took my weight and explained all of the different numbers - weight, body fat percentage, etc. She then gave me a notebook so that I can begin tracking my food in order to gain insight into eating habits as well as what does and doesn't work to achieve my overall goal. I have booked a follow up consult with her to check in and review my food journal. ------------- I came in for a consultation several months ago and honestly felt like I wasted my money. The consultation was difficult to book because they don't open weekends and so I had to take time off work. Aside from that, the person I met with was completely unprepared. She kept shuffling for papers the entire time and ultimately was unable to provide me with any handouts or anything helpful. She then proceeded to regurgitate a little bit of info that is common sense or can easily be found online. I let her know I have a medical condition and wanted help/advice around how to eat better to manage the condition as well as achieve weight loss and I got nothing. She didn't help determine the amount of calories I need to consume to be in a calorie deficit, I didn't get weighed, she didn't take my measurements, BMI info. I honestly paid approx $70 for someone to tell me I needed to eat small portions, well no shit.

I just sat there waiting for it to be over--it was uncomfortable from start to finish. To be honest, I don't even know why they call it a "med spa." A med spa should feel clean, polished, and welcoming--this looked and felt more like a plain doctor's office or clinic. When I left, the receptionist said nothing, and neither did I. The oddest part? As soon as I got into my car, I finally received a "thank you for coming in" text--yet never got the text I actually needed earlier with the address. Only do the physical activities that you feel most comfortable doing, even a small change can make a major impact. Your body needs to have the correct vitamins and minerals in order to function correctly, and if they are out of balance, it just makes it more difficult for you to achieve your goals. I was treated so horribly and ran out of office in tears, before we finished, because of how uncomfortable I felt. I had an EMT injure a rib and I was told by the hospital to follow up with my primary care doctor. So I did that, and boy was it a mistake. I never even asked for pain meds but she kept telling me she couldn't give pain meds. I did express how much pain I'm in but I didn't push for meds at all. She just kept treating me like a liar and insisting i must be getting abused at home since I had an injury in April as well. I am not getting abused and she just couldn't accept that. She was not gentle about it at all and kept saying these injuries are red flags and healthy adults don't just get fractured ribs. She said multiple times that I most be getting abused. I've been told by other doctors that x-ray isn't always the best for detecting a fracture in ribs. I said I'd be happy to do an mri but she told me no and that she knew for a fact it wouldn't show anything. What does it cost her to have me get an mri? Nothing! Don't treat me like a liar and not run tests that I'm willing to pay for. Her tone was aggressive and I can't imagine anyone who is truly greeting abused would feel comfortable opening up to her about it if they were! I'm appalled by the behavior and others should be aware they can't trust this office to handle a delicate situation well. Maybe it's because Kayla is young and inexperienced, but it's no excuse. That wasn't even all. My dad and brother are chiropractors and I've been adjusted my whole life (which also means I'm very in tune with my body and I'm sensitive to shifts in my body). I also have an autoimmune disorder which contributes to my health and body in negative ways. She was totally bashing chiropractic care, which therefore talks down on my family. I was so offended and just had to get out of there. I told her I was completely uncomfortable and asked to leave. She said I'm always welcome to leave and watched me run out of there. On top of that, I wanted to get off my gabapentin and other doctors have cautioned it needs to be a slow tapering process. Her indications were not slow at all and I know would cause withdrawal symptoms. I'll be listening to the urgent care doctor's instructions instead. I have been thru various counseling all of my life but that didn't resolve my issues nor did it really give me the tools needed to actually resolve them. I liked Joy right off the bat. You can simply tell by the tone in her voice that she is an angel. I signed up for 6 sessions with Joy...and after my 6th session, I signed up for 6 more. And I threw Joy some crazy challenges (nothing in my life has EVER been easy)....there were issues that she flat out told me she couldn't do anything about (I appreciate the honestly more than you know) and there were some issues where I really feel like I challenged her but guess what?
