This place has a great location, a lot of potential, and some really positive reviews, which is why we decided to stop in on a Friday night. Unfortunately, our experience was frustrating from the moment we arrived. The biggest issue was the lack of staff. They desperately needed more bartenders and servers working that evening. As someone who has previously worked in the service industry, I understand that busy nights happen and staffing challenges are real, but this was beyond slow service. We stood waiting for about 15 minutes at the bar trying to get someone's attention just to order a drink. During that time, we noticed several other guests becoming frustrated as well. A few people who had been waiting before us eventually gave up and left, and others behind us seemed equally annoyed. After standing there without any acknowledgment from the staff, I finally turned to my husband and said, "Let's go." We ended up leaving without ordering a single drink. I don't know if the restaurant was unexpectedly short-staffed or if several employees called out that night, but something was clearly off. It's unfortunate because the location is fantastic, and the atmosphere seemed like it could have been a great place to spend the evening. We were killing time in between visiting the Prohibition Museum and dinner so we decided to hit up Rocks on the Roof. We got lucky and got a high-top table along the railing overlooking the river. What a great spot! Service was great.... our server was hopping as it was quite busy at 5pm on a Saturday evening. (I have no idea how we lucked out on the prime table. Good timing, I suppose.) We had drinks and an appetizer and just enjoyed the view and ambiance. The bar itself (inside) is pretty good size with a sitting area/lounge... that has big walls/doors that open up to make it feel very open... like an enclosed patio. And since the afternoon/evening was a bit breezy it let in the fresh air, and we would have been happy to sit there as well. I stayed at the Bohemian Hotel, so this was a quick and easy bar of choice because it the hotel's rooftop. Firstly, if you hit it right (and are a guest), there is daily champagne happy hour from 4-6 pm in the lobby. Then you will also get a $30/day credit for the restaurant and bar (including Rocks on the Roof). Make your way to the roof for a menu that is mostly exclusive (some food/drinks might overlap with Coastal 15 restaurant, but not all). I LOVED the Peaches and Beaches cocktail. My bartender was kind enough to sub ginger beer instead of sparkling wine (I don't like wine in my cocktails), and it was PERFECT. read more

We came here for New Year's Eve, paying a cover charge that was close to $100 for two of us. The only complementary drink was champagne once the clock struck midnight. The indoor bar was overly crowded, and the outdoor bar did not have enough heaters for how chilly the night was. We thought that the cover would pay for food, but the only food passed around the entire night was a ton of deviled eggs. We're staying at the Bohemian and had a long travel day so Rocks on the Roof made sense. The venue is nice and I was happy to see there was a closed in area on a chilly night. But if took forever to get service. The bar was not overly busy but seemingly only one employee was waiting the outdoor and table area. Meanwhile there were 4 employees standing at the bar at the time. This made no sense to me. The wine selection was limited and they were out of the one I wanted. Our wine and food sat at the counter a bit before our server had time to bring it over. We had no utensils or napkins. But the food was really good. I had a smash burger and my husband enjoyed the shrimp. There were a lot of shrimp. I would have skipped my burger bun but I had no fork to eat my hamburger with. I think our server Jae was pleasant and did her best but why was she the only one running around when the rest of them stood around chatting? No insight to their roles but it's not a good optic at the very least. Suggest bringing utensils, napkins and condiments with orders. But again our food was yummy. read more

Located on the roof of the Bohemian Hotel - the elevators I agree can be confusing but we managed after a hotel employee guided us over to the one for express service to the top. This place is pretty swanky and the cocktails are well crafted but the bar service is pretty lackluster could be self inflicted distractions or just a lack of attention to detail being it's mid afternoon and this place was mostly empty when we arrived so overwhelmed and busy does not apply. We grabbed a table inside directly across from the bar, and finally decided to walk up and place our order after having a distant conversation with the bartender who was not going to direct a server to our table or make an effort to take the order himself - after finishing the first round we waited for someone to sell us a second round again only after we stood at the bar did we get to place our order, I can't blame this on a staffing issues there were 3 people behind the bar and two to three servers in a mostly empty bar although the later it got it started to have a steady flow of customers entering and the music volume increased exponentially as well, to the point we weren't able to continue our conversation at the table so we cashed out before looking at the food options. Great views and exceptionally crafted cocktails and the prices well this ain't the dive bars six floors down that line the river - I'd come back now that I've gotten an education on how things work here and just so you know there are no house margaritas they are the same price as the Kessler Margarita so go for the top shelf or a vodka mule, come early to experience this place before it gets crazy... read more

Probably the worst service we've ever experienced - slow to the max. We went on a Saturday afternoon. It was busy, so when it took the server 10 minutes to even get to us, it was ok. But then, it took another 10 mins for her to get menus. Then 10 mins more to come back for our order. All the while the place is getting less crowded. Drinks took another 20 mins to come. Meanwhile, tables around us were getting drinks and food... and they sat down after us. Our food arrived about 30 mins after ordering and was ice cold. It also wasn't done the way we asked (wanted the "comeback" sauce on the side... it was on bun). We just ended up sending it back, finishing our drinks and heading out the door. I ordered a margarita on the rocks when we first got here and it was awful. Switched to the peaches and beaches which was amazing. The staff was not engaging at all throughout our visit. My review is wholly based on beverages and the location. What a great rooftop! Awesome views of the river and River Street. Lots of tables and lots of friendly folks. The beer selection is quite nice and includes several local craft brews. My mom wanted lemonade and the bartender made it from scratch. It was really good. He was very busy and remained friendly and gracious. The food we saw looked great as did many of their specialty drinks, especially the various martinis. I will definitely visit again and look forward to taking friends and family up on the roof. read more

Think good jams from the DJ, an ethnically and generationally diverse crowd, a u-shaped bar with staff moving fast and the requirement to pay as you go or once your card is swiped, it's returned with the option to keep it open. That said, getting in was slightly challenging. We arrived at the, you must wait downstairs in the hotel lobby, etc to enter after others leave because we're at our socially distance capacity. Luckily for us, as we pressed the elevator button to head downstairs and likely find someplace else, a group of about 6 were exiting and interested in piling in the elevator that traditionally has a max capacity of maybe 8. Perfect storm. So we stepped off and entered the roof and managed to snag a balcony seat facing downtown versus the river, getting to view car parades and others enjoying the night with a good breeze in the air. Loved the vibe, location and set up. A solid option if solo, with a group or couple. read more

We still managed to find balcony seating, but on the backside overlooking the downtown, not the river. I saw room for a few more tables, hint hint hint.
