What keeps its character is that it both celebrates the heritage if their building, and integrates that into a unique environment that serves some pretty awesome local ice cream. It can get cramped inside, but if you take a brief moment, look around and enjoy the art, the beauty of the intact early 1900's artifacts and decor, complete with self-playing piano. The staff is friendly, extremely busy, and absolutely patient with the often consistent bustling crowds that come, even at night, in a weekday in summer. There's limited seating outdoors, weather permitting. However, don't forget to ask for that waffle cone. I won't get into specific ice cream flavors, but they are not ones you typically find and national chains. Nothing too exotic, and its all recognizable to the American palette.
