if you value human decency and treating others with respect dont come here. My coworker worked here and she had called out that she wasn't feeling well, but she could not find a cover at her other job and forced to come in. The owner of serendipity then came into her other work to harass her and yell in front of other staff and customers calling her names all the while my coworker stood there and cried we had to ask her to leave the store. This could have been dealt with in a more professional manner. read more

I give this place 4 stars, but honestly this wasn't anything special for me. Just a downtown ice cream shop. They are in a really old historic building, which is cool. They have a cool piano that plays music by itself. The brownie sundae is pretty amazing, and the Bordeaux cherry ice cream is top tier. Serendipity was a nice find when wandering around downtown. It was a warmer than expected day, so ice cream sounded like a great idea! We stopped in, and were perplexed that it was hotter inside than it was outside (not sure if there is air conditioning, but if there is, it wasn't on, or wasn't working). There is an actual working player piano to keep patrons entertained, and there are baked goods available for sale. The selection of ice cream and sherbet varieties was quite large and unique. I opted for a sherbet cone and two cookies, and my friend got a dish of ice cream. Prices were reasonable, and the quality and flavor of food was very good. Staff is helpful and friendly. Had it been cooler inside, we would have stayed, but went back outside where it was cooler. read more

This is an absolutely darling ice cream parlor! They had lots of flavors, and even had gluten free cones which as a celiac I really appreciated. The atmosphere is very old timey and cosy and there's even a working player piano performing. The staff is very friendly and helpful as well. Highly recommend! read more

This cute little ice cream shop is located in a historic building in the "old downtown" area. A player piano is constantly playing tunes, both old time classics and more current songs. There are a limited number of tables but we found some counter seating at the front window to enjoy our treats while people watching. I ordered a 2 scoop sundae with espresso chip and moose track ice cream topped with both hot fudge and caramel sauce. YUM! Staff were exceptionally friendly and projected a positive vibe. This.place is adorable, great ice cream flavors, love the self playing piano, sadly the customer service was so bad. We walked in Sunday afternoon around 2pm and the young boy and young girl did not greet us, they did not ask is what we would Ike, they just stares us with blank faces. I got a single dish of ice cream with hot fudge. I bet it was a teaspoon of hot fudge and I'm sure I paid extra for that. So disappointing. Lack of customer service and common sense about the hot fudge makes me rethink if I will be back. These kids need some lessons in customer service and maybe a better sense of how much topping is appropriate. So annoying! read more

An absolutely adorable old fashioned ice cream parlour that became a little less charming inside. I guess the vintage setting really had me hoping for homemade ice cream. Unfortunately they serve Cascade Glacier ice cream, which I put a tier below Tillamook and Umpqua. There is a lot about this business to love. The setting is vintage in the heart of downtown McMinneville and they even have a player piano in the main room. This business was also set up to support and employ those with disabilities. We popped in while visiting mcminnville this last Saturday and our experience was not the best. Our initial reaction was that the staff on hand that night were very unkind and seemed to have a "i'm better then you attitude". After ordering and going to sit down we noticed that not only was the over all shop messy, but the tables were very sticky and not clean. The ice cream itself was satisfactory but my partner noticed when the employees closed the ice cream case, small black flecks of something (i'm guessing dirt or mold) fell into the ice cream, which alone made me lose appetite. In a historic building like that the sight was not reassuring, I personally will not be visiting again. read more

There's something about supporting a local business that makes me happy. This ice cream/sorbet parlor is utterly adorable. They have a wonderful staff, and have minimal seating available. They are wheelchair accessible even though the establishment isn't that big. This is definitely a wonderful place to support since they also give quite a bit back to the community. They also have milkshakes, cookies, and sometimes even soup! It's the cutest little vintage ice cream shop! The Decour is cool. The space is big. I am the atmosphere is unique. The reason for four stars instead of five... Is the stupid piano. It's fine for a song or two. But when you have a group of people there you're eating ice cream and playing games so you're there for a little bit more than just five minutes, it really starts to get on your nerves. I don't know how the workers can stand it. They play different songs yes but it is just the same sound from the piano over and over and over and over again just different tunes. It is the most annoying thing!And some of my friends agree with me. It would be fine if maybe there was some drums or something else but no just the piano... We stopped in to celebrate every special occasion. Graduations, birthdays, new jobs. And it consoled us on the sad days. Boyfriend breakups, lost jobs... thankfully more good than sad :). Any visitors who came to see us were taken to Serendipity. We wanted them to know we were living the good life. It was so good to stop in again, and not ONE thing has changed. Had this neat little ice cream shop not been spied by the gang of pre-teen girls after pizza at 3rd St Pizza, I would not have noticed it. It is very small, old fashioned, and had a good selection of sweets and treats. All the girls got small sized ice cream scoops in everything from cones to cups. I had a small scoop of Rocky Road. While sitting back and (attempting) to tune out the banter on who thinks Justin Bieber is cuter, I took in the decor. The piano was incredible! It played some cool music and even the girls thought it was pretty awesome for not being an iPod. I loved all the hard wood and jars full of candies. The large table right in front of the ice cream coolers was great for the large party size, but the smaller, personal sized tables in the back were perfect for imagining sharing a chocolate malt or root beer float.
