My daughter and I recently visited Rock Star Nail Salon for the first time while we were in the Ocean Township area and decided to treat ourselves to a mother-daughter nail appointment. Unfortunately, what should have been a relaxing experience turned into a very disappointing one. I received a spa pedicure, which cost $59, and upgraded to Dazzle Dry polish because I wanted the convenience of having my nails dry immediately and expected a longer-lasting result. With the upgrade, my total was over $70 before tip. To my surprise, within just two days, every toenail had chipped. I have had countless pedicures over the years, many with regular polish, and I have never experienced a pedicure chipping this quickly. It appeared that a top coat may not have been properly applied, so I called the salon to explain the situation. After being placed on hold, I was told that it is the salon's policy not to perform nail repairs. Let that sink in: after spending over $70 on a pedicure that lasted less than 48 hours, I was essentially being told I would have to pay again to correct the problem. While they ultimately offered to fit me in for a "one-time" repair, they made it very clear that they do not normally stand behind their work in situations like this. What disappointed me most was not just the poor durability of the pedicure, but the customer service and the salon's policy. When a service fails within 48 hours, especially at this price point, a reputable business should take responsibility and make it right without hesitation. Instead, I felt dismissed and inconvenienced. I was genuinely excited to try Rock Star Nail Salon and had hoped to become a repeat customer. Instead, I left feeling frustrated, disappointed, and frankly disgusted by the lack of accountability and customer care. TLDR: Avoid this salon. Despite being a loyal customer for 3+ years, I was met with extreme hostility and arguing from the front desk over a scheduling mix-up. The front end staff was combative, refused to take accountability for a timing error, and was incredibly unprofessional. Great technicians, but terrible management. After being a loyal customer for over three years, I will never return to this salon due to the unprofessional and aggressive behavior of the front desk staff. I had to reschedule an initial appointment due to work, and I was verbally told my new time was 3:30 PM. When I arrived at 3:30 PM, the receptionist immediately raised her voice, claiming I was late for a 3:15 PM slot. When I explained that I was given a 3:30 PM time and hadn't answered their calls because I was driving, she became combative. She even sarcastically asked how they were "supposed to know" about the scheduling error if I didn't answer my phone. Even when I agreed to see any available technician to be flexible, she continued to argue, stating they would no longer allow me to request specific techs because I am "always late." Her tone was so accusatory and rude that I chose to cancel my appointment and leave. While the technicians here do great work, the toxic environment at the front desk is not worth the stress. Buyer Beware! We are on the phone now with this place. They are overpriced for the services that they provide. They will charge $10 more for a regular gel pedicure-nothing fancy. A staff member started massaging my daughter then told her she'd be charged, like $12.00? when other places have always provided it as part of the service and clearly before starting to massage, lol. They refused to give the name of the person who started massaging my daughter and they stated that they are clear about their prices up front. Not true. Ok-i do it! Fast forward to next appointment. 20 minutes into manicure, after i confirmed price, tech says, oh by the way, extra $5 because your nails are long!!! They are not crazy long at all! The salon is clean with a large color selection, but there's very little time given to choose. It's more about the volume of customers they can get in asap. I had one of the worst mani, pedi treatments ever yesterday. I find the staff to be insincere. The lady who did my manicure pedicure rushed through the process. Nails were trimmed unevenly, hands and toes. Cuticles were never addressed. There was a hard sell of various extras but I claimed that I was unable to afford them. From that point on, the technician was cold as she rushed through the treatment. Even the front desk gentleman was aloof and basically unfriendly. Have gotten a dip manicure from this salon a few times- very inconsistent quality with each manicure. Got my nails done Saturday, and these started peeling Sunday. A nail completely cracked Tuesday. When I went in for my nail repair, the manager suggested it was "my fault" since there was a note in my file I don't like my nails thick. I came here for the first time for a gel mani/pedi. And my nails came out okay, but it was definitely NOT worth $92??? To be clear, I just got solid colors- no designs or anything. My nails are super short too, no tips. The girl was nice enough I guess but barely spoke to me the entire time and didn't even know where to seat me for the mani for a few minutes before she came back for me. I also heard two other people around me complaining to their techs about the nail polish being dried up and goopy. For $92, that better be the best nail polish I've ever seen is all I'm saying. More seriously, I could easily go to another nail salon and get better service for half the price. It's a shame because it's a pretty place, but that's really the only plus. Went for a daughter and mom spa day never go again. They have this sneaky system of trying to get you to buy more services when you ask for only one thing. The try to haggle you into up grades and the massage thing you might think it's a courtesy to clients if you didn't know it. The big issues is the tipping nope your not tipping just one or two people it could be 4 or 5. And when you ask if they can fix your nail cause it smeared nope they will not do it. This place is obnoxious. They upsell you for what should be a basic pedicure. The lady burned my leg with a hot towel. Then she clipped my nail so short it bled and hurt for 4 days. My nails were unevenly cut too. She sold the "massage" it was like she was petting a cat. No pressure. She also used a cheese grater to get rid of some barely there callouses . She went so hard using it that my feet so tender that it hurt to walk. She literally skinned the soles of my feet ! The massage chair didn't really work. The controls were half broken. The polish chipped off my big toe that day. The polish was old and thinned out .They were perfectly dry and I wore flip flops all day. This place was a disaster. I was so mad that I tipped her 20% cash after I had time to process what she did to me. Awful blaring music is the vibe. The place is a factory. They spend the minimal amount of time. IF I COULD GIVE NEGATIVE STARS I WOULD Went for a Gel Pedicure with my Mom here. We both got the Organic Spa Pedicure with Gel Polish. My mom's toes look great, however, my toes are terrible in terms of quality and my experience was anything but relaxing. The young gentleman doing my nails cut my cuticles to the point that they bled (picture #1). Furthermore, the massage was extremely too rough and I was wincing and flinching the entire time, so much so that my mom asked me if I was okay. As if that wasn't enough to justify a refund, the polish on every toe is streaky and uneven, my nails are cut crookedly, the line on the bottom by my cuticles are crooked and uneven, and there are globs of polish in between my skin and nails from the messy job that was done (all pictured). I asked for a refund to which they said they'd give me $10 back, my total bill was $160 for both pedicures....LOL and they offered to redo my toes once more, but i told them i didn't have time for that at the moment and would like a refund instead. To which they basically told me I can try and call back at another point and the $10 was all they'd be willing to give. After a bunch of arguments they finally gave me a refund after removing the polish, even though I walked in with polished toes and now I'm left with drilled toenails. read more

I visited Rock Star Nails for the first time on Wednesday July 2nd for a pedicure. I had a male technician but I wasn't given his name. He led me back to the pedicure area but there was no conversation. I tried to tell him one thing but he shook his head no. He didn't understand. The pedicure was rushed. There was no cleaning up of the nails or any abrasion to get rid of old skin. He put some sugar type scrub on my shins and wiped it right off. He showed me his phone that said five minutes and proceeded to massage my feet. When he was done my nails were jagged and the polish was poorly applied. i've been a long-standing customer with rockstar, Nails! Unfortunately, today I am very disappointed! I came in today to get a basic manicure with gel polish! I got there at 4:55 because my appointment was at 5 PM. The manicure took approximately 15 minutes when it was time for me to pay, the manicure was $40, I am trying to figure out why the manicure was so much money because when the manicure was performed on my hands, my hands did not even go in water at all! My nails were trimmed. My cuticles were cleaned. My nails were polished and then I washed my own hands and the manicurist, then put lotion on them! When I was charged $40, I was shocked because I had no idea that that basic plain, dry manicure because so much money ! And when I went to pay the bill, the receptionist wanted me to give a tip, but I did not give a tip, because I did not expect to pay so much money for the manicure! The receptionist then had the audacity to turn to the manicurist who did my nails and tell her that I did not leave her a tip! How dare her! I personally did not care for this place. It was not warm or welcoming to begin with. It seems like you're just another dollar bill. It started with a conversation about a cheese grater. I don't like my feet being grated. I asked to not have the item used from the very beginning, which became a conversation of her trying to convince me for 3 minutes as other customers were staring. The process was okay. I've been to other nail salons that are better, this place was not something I was impressed with. After mentioning I didn't want my skin grated, they decided to grate them anyway. I gave up. My mom who has great feet and did not want this done either was with me. Her lady took out the grater without asking and she grated her foot and my mom said no thank you and the lady decided to continue till my mom told her again, No. The massage was nothing great. You go to get pampered and expect something decent. It was the same circular motion over and over and over again. They made sure I knew it was 15 minutes long, okay fine. It was 15 minutes long but one leg got more of a massage than the other. Also, they promote how they have hot stone. It's a joke. Don't even bother with this. You get hot stone glided through your legs twice and you're done. Don't promote hot stone if you're not actually going to give me hot stone. Hot stone what? Touch? Feel? Don't get the promotion. To add to the ridiculousness, they decided not to put base coat on my toes or my mothers toes. Umm come again? What kind of place doesn't do base coat, two coats of color and a top coat? Save yourself some money and go somewhere decent and worth going to. This place isn't it. Try Manilash or Affinity Nails, I've always had a better experience there. Just wanted to try a new place out. I forgot to add how I left with clumps of paraffin on my heels. I wasn't the only one as I noticed another female in the place as she was paying with paraffin on the back of her heels. At first I thought they just didn't rub the lotion in right, NOPE!
