Rocktown Adventures is AMAZING!!!! Did you know Rocktown Adventures can do your corporate team building events? I didn't either until I saw an ad in a local magazine. I contacted them and set up a kayaking event for our management team. WE HAD A BLAST!!! The staff are fun, professional and experts at kayaking. In addition, they are extremely knowledgeable on the history of Rockford. Not only did we get a fantastic kayaking experience but a history lesson as well. As for the team building events we did three separate exercises involving trust, communication, and team work. The exercises were fun with a hint of competitiveness to them. We learned a lot about each other as we were doing the exercises which helps us become a stronger team. I can't say enough about Rocktown Adventures and the wonderful staff. I ordered an inflatable kayak online from a reputable dealer but it didn't come with a pump. Instead, it came with an adapter that was supposed to work with any pump. However, the adapter did not work with either of the two pumps I own. I took the adapter and the kayak to Rocktown Adventures to see if they could help. My husband and I got inflatable SUPs there years ago (and took a lesson through them also) and had a really good experience, so I thought they might be able to help with the kayak issue. Kevin was so helpful and generous with his time. He went out of his way to help me figure out a solution to the problem and even went so far as to call the rep from the company that sold me the kayak to get some information. He didn't have to help me with this since I didn't buy the kayak there, but he did. Together we solved the issue and now my kayak is ready to go! Thank you, Kevin! read more

The staff are knowledgable in kayaking, paddling, and waterways. We arrived early for our 5:30pm adventure, the staff were prepping our gear while we shopped around the well equipped pro shop. Our group piled into a van pulling our kayaks.... The driver was talking on his cell phone, not cool. Once we arrived at the launch point it was smooth sailing, and so much fun! The 5:30-7pm city market paddle was more like 6-7:30 if we're talking actual time on the water. All in all we had an awesome experience and would highly recommend. Great value for the cost. So far I've done one kayaking lesson and two trips with Rocktown Adventures. The lesson was informative and a good time. It actually turned into a mini paddle trip through the city due to the lack of time constraints by the class. The two paddle trips were great for seeing getting out and seeing nature and some of the wildlife in the area. Dan, who taught the class as well as led both paddle trips is a great guide. He remembers your name and definitely knows his stuff when it comes to kayaking. read more

Great time!! My friend and I were in town for a girls weekend and wanted to do something fun so we decided to try stand up paddle boarding. They didn't have any available times for the yoga class so they offered to do a private lesson for the two of us! It was awesome! Our instructor Dan gave us a quick overview on land and then we got out on the water! They said the river had too much algae so we went to a lake that is fed by a natural spring. The water was so clear! I would definitely recommend this place! read more

I had my first kayaking experience today and I can't express how awesome this outfit is! Dan was our instructor and he was very knowledgeable and was very patient with us first-timers. He kept it light and relaxing while also instructing us on land and in the water. I felt completely confident in myself only a few minutes after entering the water. We went on the Friday night kayaking tour down the Rock river and had a great time! Our guide was a perfect mix of friendly, helpful, and entertaining. We picked up some kayaking tips and learned some Rockford history. I would absolutely recommend this and look forward to more adventures! read more
