When my mother-in-law decided to sell her house, the Realtor told us that we needed to fix the crack that ran through one full row of tiles in the dining room. We had tried to find someone to fix it several times before, and were really worried that it was going to cost thousands of dollars. Enter Rocky and Sons. Gonan came right over to give me an estimate. We told him we wanted a cosmetic repair, and that it needed to match the rest of the room as closely as possible. He said he could have it done in two days, and that he would go out and find the tile himself. He called the next day after going to 6 tiles store to tell me he couldn't find an exact match, but that he had found something very close. He was really worried that it wouldn't be good enough. Since we were in a bind, I told him to go for it. The next day the tile was in. The tiles that he had found were a mere 1/4 inch too big, and once they were installed we couldn't even tell the difference! Not only that, but it cost less than $500. Gonan (the son part of Rocky & Sons) was great to work with on my bathtub/shower tiling project. I contacted him on a Wednesday, he stopped by on Friday for an estimate, and the following Thursday, his guys were hard at work demo-ing the old tile. They worked fast- by 2 pm Friday, I was the proud owner of a spankin' new white tile shower. A bit of backstory - last year I had my shower stall (which was leaking) ripped out, and I had a W/D hookup installed. The same guy turned my tub into a tub/ shower and tiled the top half of the walls. The reason for calling Gonan? My brand new tile was leaking! So his guys tore everything out and discovered there was no liner behind the new tile. A $15 liner (or rather, a lack thereof) resulted in a complete demo and redo. Needless to say, I'll be having a word with the original guy. I'm just happy Gonan and his crew were clean, prompt, and quick. Gonen and crew are superb to work with. We had a challenging tiling job for our bathroom, including an expensive mosaic piece of art. Gonen considered the best approach for integrating the artwork into the tile job and offered many helpful suggestions as to how to proceed. I can't stress how meticulous, cautious and thorough the install process was. There is absolutely no rushing through the job and every step of the way we were consulted and updated. In addition to the original mosaic artwork, we used Heath tiles, which are handmade and need to be carefully spaced. This probably doubled the normal install time, but we were given a very reasonable quote that didn't take into account the added work these tiles required. At no point did Gonen try to tack on additional fees and the end result was more than we had hoped for. We also had 2 recessed shelving sections installed and tiled within the shower that are incredible. Thanks for a tremendous job! read more

Wow! I call Gonen because we have a shampoonage and our workers can't seem to get the accent tiles straight. I thought I'd better call a tile professional to take a look. Gonen was so nice, he looked at the pictures and called me back right away. He told me that his minimum was $500 and this isn't worth me spending $500 to fix. He encouraged me to give the workers another chance and explained what their problem was. He could probably tell that I was frustrated and said "hey if you are remodeling all the bathrooms and the only problem you have is some accent tiles, it's not that bad. Don't worry about it". I didn't get my floor done with Rocky and Son only because my floor wasn't compatible with their services, but I dearly wish I could have! Gonen took time out of a busy day to come to my home & inspect my floor- which needs a crazy amount of work- and even after realizing I couldn't get my landlord to fix it with his company, he was kind enough to explain to me what steps I need to take to fix it. Gonen was prompt and on time for his estimate which was very fair. We had two bathrooms floors and backsplash and bathtub tiles redone. His workers are fantastic and courteous and clean. We had a 1 week delay due to his tile supplier not having the tiles available, but it was not an issue for us and Gonen kept us updated on the delivery status. He can get some very good deals on tile so it was worth the wait. It's been a few months and some of the grout needs to be reset due to shrinkage-- which apparently happens with grout (I know it does for caulk) Gonen will be coming back to address this issue and was informative about the process. The shower was leaking profusely due to the previous tile setter having angled the tile away from the shower, rather than toward the inside. I am delighted we used Gonen who we found on Yelp. We needed to installed Subway tile in the kitchen on the walls and above the sink. It is not a big area, but is very, very visible and we wanted it to look great. Gonen was right on time for the estimate. He walked me through the steps he would take to install the tile. After our discussion, he came up with a list of what to purchase: the exact amount of tile square footage, the number of bull nose tiles and corner tiles. I was impressed with the time he took and the quality of the information. After I purchased the items, we scheduled the install. Gonen arrived on time and he did a great job. It looks super! When I signed up for Yelp, I figured that three stars would be average, four stars would be above average, and I would reserve the five-star rating only for truly exceptional services. But when you deal with a company that is competent, professional, easy to deal with, and and not only does what it says it's going to do but also goes above and beyond, what else does that deserve but five stars? I contacted Rocky and Son Tile to inquire about replacing a great deal of cracked outdoor spa tile. I also asked about whether they could replace a broken patio brick, but was told they didn't do that sort of thing. No problem. I spoke on the phone with Gonen at least twice, and every conversation was pleasant, polite, straightforward, and easy to understand. When we set a time for the job, he warned me that he would be coming from another job and might be a bit late depending on how long it took, but promised to call me that morning if he anticipated that he might be running at all late. And he did. (As you probably know if you're reading Yelp reviews, this is unfortunately not always the norm.) When Gonen arrived -- not that late at all, but still apologetic no matter how often I assured him that it was perfectly fine -- he was again both professional and friendly. In the course of his work he sorted through our box of tile pieces to select the right shapes, replaced dozens of cracked and broken tiles very competently, and kept me informed about both what he was doing and what he was not able to do due to preexisting problems (an uneven, improperly installed foundation). And for the latter, he showed me the problems so that I didn't have to take his word for it, and he still did the best job he could, while warning me that it likely wouldn't last as long. In addition, he offered to replace a missing corner tile that he'd noticed on the other side of the yard (although it turned out that we didn't have a replacement tile of the proper shape, so he couldn't do it). And at the end of the job, when he had some leftover adhesive, he went ahead and cemented that broken brick anyway, while being sure to caution me that it was only a temporary measure and not a substitute for having it done properly. Before leaving, he made sure that I understood everything he'd done, was satisfied with the work, and had no other questions for him. All in all, using Rocky and Son Tile was an easy and extremely pleasant experience. No, I didn't feel as if I'd been struck by lightning or bowled over with sheer awesomeness... but really, who can ask for more than a polite, competent professional who knows what he's doing, does it properly, stays in communication, and goes further than required just to ensure customer satisfaction? I called Rocky and Son after some of my kitchen travertine tiles started to crack and get loose. Gonen came to my home to analyze the problem. Turned out it was a pretty major one, as the entire prior tiling job was poorly done, leveling improper, and a poor mix of concrete under the tiles. That said, Gonen presented me with a few options at varying costs to fix the problem--including a very reasonably priced fix of only the tiles that were the largest problem. Therein lies the difference between Rocky and Son and other companies. I called several other companies before Rocky and Son--all of which had positive Yelp reviews. Not a single one offered to come and view the problem in person. Instead, I was asked in some instances to simply describe the problem, and then told it would cost thousands to fix. At best, other companies asked me to send photos of the issue. Sometimes, my messages were simply never returned. Gonen took the time to make sure that a relatively small job was done correctly and within my budget. He was gracious and appreciate of the fact that I contracted with him. Ultimately, when the work began, the job ended up being more difficult than anticipated, and took several hours of additional work--at no additional charge. He told me what we needed to order for the job and we called to schedule him to come out after we received the materials. He called when he was headed over to give us a heads up that he would arrive within 30 mins. He showed up on time and we walked through the job and left him to work his magic super powers.
