The pictures that I've seen of this place preach. I sell land in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. The rivers that we have experienced Remind Me! a lot of the Home that we all long for. I pray one day I get an opportunity to actually visit this place! It looks amazing. Attached are some pictures--I've included one of the river on the ranch at Waldo's Camp. A friend sent it to me. I've also included fun pictures--even one from my Landsale in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. The rivers there are absolutely incredible. I've heard the rivers in Texas are great! Just kidding. I know they are-- because I'm from Texas! I'm biased. Keep checking out my photos and you'll see ;) That's why I'm coming to Columbus one day and spending some time at the Camp! I hope they are ready for me! And when I say they, I mean the owner and any of his employees. I've seen him around town--on a billboard or two. That tells me something. It tells me many things actually, but one of them is that this is, straight up, a legit business. And when you see it, make sure to send a message to God, "thank you for your creation" and also to the owner, JP. Tell him "Jenn says 'hi'!" Yall are the best!

Definitely recommend staying here to enjoy the surroundings, near the lake, animals and peace.

But did you know they also have an event hall for rent? We booked it for a family gathering, and it was perfect. The space has a charming vintage look, with plenty of tables and chairs, clean restrooms, a spacious kitchen equipped with burners, a sink, a fridge, and enough trash bins. The concrete floors are a bit cracked, but that's hardly a dealbreaker when you're getting such a gem in the middle of a state park. Guests pay a discounted $3 entrance fee, but since we had an RSVP list, we purchased tickets ahead of time to make the process smoother for everyone. You receive the event hall key at 9 AM on the day of your event and can drop it in the designated box whenever your party ends. The space comfortably accommodates 70-80 guests, making it a great choice for gatherings. You're expected to leave the hall in the same condition as you received it, but the trash bins can be left as they are staff will come by later to collect the trash. It's that simple!

Affordable either way! There's also an area set up with mugs, stickers and such for sale. So glad we decided to drive through! A lot of different scenery, well-maintained and mostly empty roads, new undergrowth in burn areas, peaceful and quiet overall. We continued through what seemed a residential area with private houses, then onwards through Bastrop State Park, exiting there. Nice introduction to Buescher State Park. We'll return to hike in cooler weather.

I love the pine trees and views from some of the trails. The campground is lovely as well. Very clean. Spaces are large. People are respectful. But... A big con is the traffic noise at night! We stayed in the Copperas Creek Camping Area, which is quite close to the road, so we expected some noise. But it was intense both noise. A loud, long crash woke me up in the middle of the night, with a second crash crashing into the debris from the first one. That whole incident kept me up for 2 hours. I don't know if the other campgrounds in the park are any better. The park is nestled in a populated area so I doubt it. But the trails and area are beautiful!! So I would definitely recommend for hiking!! Not so much tent camping... (maybe it's better in an RV?).

I came out here with a group- most of ours first time. We enjoyed the smell of the tall pines, some bridges and steps and switchbacks. The overviews left some to be desired as they overlooked the highway. Overall the park is clean and beautiful and we didn't see many people which made it better! I can't wait to go back and tackle the 8mi trail!

Great location close to downtown Bastrop which worked out perfectly since the Patriotic Festival was this weekend. From the top of the hill near the entrance you had a good view of the fireworks. Since we had grilled and just started eating when the 1st fireworks began, we watched from the cabin. Aside from the highway, we could see the whole show from the side. The owners, the Kitays, are super friendly and knowledgeable. The campgrounds are well-kept and clean. There are all options of camping available. We checked out the pool and splashpad which my 5-year-old enjoyed. Highly recommend and would love to come back!

The beds were just ok, but MUCH better than a traditional camping situation. We really liked the shelving units for all of our items. The mini fridge, microwave and other kitchen items were very nice to have. We were also very thankful for the fire pit, grill and picnic table. The bathrooms near us did not have any lights or a/c turned on. They worked and were clean, but didn't have any electricity. We used the bathrooms that were down a little form us. They did have lights and were clean. I was nervous about the bathroom situation. In other reviews, people were saying the bathrooms were a mess. This was not the case with our trip. I hope they keep this up. Having clean bathrooms is very important. I would not come back if the bathrooms were a problem. It had rained, so the river was running pretty good. The 3 hour float was only 1.5 hour(s). The tube rental was easy, $30 per person for all day. They take you back to the campsite and you can float as many times as you would like for the $30 daily rate. They also allow you to have multiple tubes for you and your ice chest at no extra charge.
