When visiting Boulder, I spotted this place and thought that would be perfect to pick up some items to take home. The two staff people inside (a young lady being trained and a woman--maybe the owner?) were behind the counter. My friend and I started to look around. I picked up a couple of items and my friend wanted to buy a few pieces to take home but was told she had to buy a certain amount in order to get them packaged up. My friend didn't want to purchase that many items but she wanted her items wrapped up to take home to her girls. She declined. I ended up purchasing a few items including one single piece of chocolate to share with my friend and it had to be eaten right away which was fine with me. We both left there and felt the atmosphere wasn't very welcoming mainly because of the older woman (owner?). She wasn't rude--just not very friendly. Don't refrigerate caramel/dipped/candy apples if you're planning on eating. It will be fine outside for a few days. If you do refrigerate it for it to keep longer, leave it out for a few hours before cutting it. It tends to be too brittle or hard otherwise. In general, they travel well and are great if you don't have immediate refrigeration. Also, the first time I've seen an RMCF sea salt chocolate-dipped apple. I wonder if it's a recent thing because I've never seen any at our location. They do seasonal flavors/decorated apples as well and were still doing chocolate-dipped strawberries in March. This is their Pearl Street/the Pearl Street Mall location (four-block outdoor mall/fancy downtown-ish area for tourists and bar hopping), and conveniently right next to the downtown Boulder Visitor Center and the Pearl Street public restrooms (which are actually very clean). The street itself is blocked off for restaurants' outdoor seating. Parking consists of metered street parking (including a fair amount of back-in angle spaces) and a number of public garages and parking lots in the surrounding area as well. Not too familiar with the ins and outs of it, but we got free parking on Saturday and Sundays, and apparently there was free parking after 6 PM on Wednesday. At least, that's what I was told why we were charged for two hours rather than four that evening. We've also been told that you can park at the free Table Mesa parking garage and take the bus here. It's just you'd need to buy a bus pass if you're not a student. I was visiting CU and got SUPER excited to see a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory here. RMCF was founded and first opened in Colorado by a man from California, they're known for their chocolate, chocolate-dipped treats (marshmallows, strawberries, now coco bombs), and how I discovered my love of dipped apples. Also, because our closest location closed during the pandemic, this is the first time I've seen one in a while. Apples aren't quite as crisp as I'm used to, but I found them relatively fresh and I would definitely recommend picking one as a treat. read more

1. Walked into the store and immediately saw one of the people sitting on a counter in the back. If you are working here that is not the place I would be sitting. Where you either make or prep food. Disgusting. 2. As we approached the counter none, there were 3, of the people behind the counter acknowledged there were customers. It felt as if we were to interrupt their conversation it would have been a nuisance. We have been here multiple time and never had such an issue. When I crave chocolate and pass by a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory I'm going in! There's not a time that I passed by one and not go in the store! I just love their chocolate. My favorite chocolate is English Toffee whether it's dark or milk chocolate! I also got the chocolate covered strawberries which is a hit every time. The girl at the front is very sweet and friendly. I really love that each chocolate factory I go into whether it's in Colorado or California the taste of their chocolate is exactly the same! Very consistent. Very delectable! This one is located on Pearl Street which I consider an outside mall. There are street parking everywhere but you have to pay a meter. There's also a public parking lot. And I have to say it's quite cheap since I come from California and almost everything is expensive. So parking is A+! read more

I LOVE the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory!!!! So many chocolatey treats to choose from! I came here a few months ago with some friends to pick out some Christmas treats. Their selection is so big, lots and lots of different chocolate treats and candies to choose from. I must admit when I visited this particular location I didn't actually try anything, but I must say their chocolate dipped apples looked to die for. The scent in this store made my nostrils do backflips, the wafts of freshly made chocolate and caramel in the air smelt irresistible. The friends I was with purchased many items from the store, and they were really pleased with their selection! From a service and hospitability standpoint, everyone that works here is super friendly and welcoming. We were in Boulder for a couple days and kept going back to RMCF. The Snickers caramel apple was our favorite!! It tasted like an actual Snickers and the apple was nice, fresh and crunchy. I'd recommend getting the apple sliced up. It makes it so much easier to eat and enjoy. It can get a little pricey ($20 for 2 apples) but they are so worth it! read more

Low grade chocolate, the prices are marked up an insane amount above cost to produce. The employees are paid minimum wage, are not trained, and are treated as cattle and it shows. I spoke to some of them, and the job apparently lists at around $17 p/h, but in reality the wage is $12.50 p/h, and the owner is including tips in the job posting. But, the owner also refuses to pay out tips to employees she doesn't like. She also refuses to terminate employees, but instead cuts their hours until they're forced to quite. I like chocolate and sweets, but I'd just assume eat a snickers than ever visit this place. That owner operates the pearl location and the one in flatirons crossing, avoid at all cost if you believe in employees being treated with respect. read more

Poor quality chocolate, artificial flavors, and falsely advertised fillings. I got two jelly milk chocolate sticks, one orange and one raspberry. The chocolate was cheap chocolate, the orange was better than the raspberry, but they were so artificial in flavor (especially the raspberry) that I found them inedible. As for the Coco Loco, this was supposed to have a creamy coco loco filling as advertised, but all it had was shaved coconut... so not creamy, not coco loco flavor. Yes yes yes yes! I always need an Avalanche Bark fix when I am in town. Great taste chocolate and a lot of hand crafted goods like the apples, fudge, and dipped items. I got a giant chunk of avalanche bark and a pecan pretzel stick. I highly recommend checking this place out if you have a bit of a sweet tooth like me or if you're a fan of caramel apples which is a nice mix of refreshing and sweetness. This place is sooooo good. I mainly come in here for the decadent apples. Over a 4 day vacation I tried the apple pie apple (twice), the rocky road, the black forest, and the avalanche flavors. I'd recommend the rocky road and apple pie flavors the most and the black forest apple least. My friends bought fudge and other assorted candy. Id say about 80% of what we got was great. No matter how many times I try their chocolate (and I try it often, since it's smack-dab in the middle of the mall, where I tend to lay around in the summer reading) I always find it sort of blah, and way overpriced. Recently, they raised their prices even more! I went in to buy one piece of chocolate - it was a little caramel-filled chocolate ball or something - and the register rang up two seventy-something! I told the checkout girl never mind, and normally I'm way too nonconfrontational to do something like that - normally I just pay for the damn thing and go away mumbling - but there was absolutely no way I was going to pay practically three dollars for a tiny caramel ball that tastes like the 35 cent Lindt ones you see in Jones Drug. I tried 3 dipped marshmallows: One dipped in caramel, one dipped in chocolate and graham cracker crust (smore), and one dipped in generous oreo crumbles. The smore was a snore, but the other two were actually ok. We also bought chocolate covered potato chips. They had ridges, so you know what kind thems was. We felt like there was something missing...could be that the chip wasn't salty enough to create that perfect ratio of salty and sweet. We really got around today! Mum wanted to bring back a treat for the office so we ducked in here to pick up a box or caramels. That is probably my fav thing in the store. Terrible! My husband and I went for some ice cream. The lady charged me double the price and told me it was because I got two two scoop ice creams. When I explained it was only one scoop each she then charged me more for one scoop than one scoop at normal cost. Unbelievable! My family had a really unpleasant experience there because of one awful staff member who was rude and sarcastic to other employees, and to us. When my 6 year old daughter thanked me with great enthusiasm for buying her chocolate he even we so far as to tell her with a lot of cynicism, "I wouldn't thank her thank much. Living in Boulder I love to stop in here for a treat, but when planning our wedding the number of guests with gluten allergies got us to think beyond a cake. Jessica and her team put together lovely platters of toffee, salted caramel, and truffles for our special day. It was awesome.
