I went to the restroom to wash my hands and my girlfriend went to make the order. I had to get a restroom key from the front counter which had a huge plastic lid attached to the key...both were FILTHY! As I entered the restroom, I cringed, froze and my eyes were like frisbees. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting with who knows what caked on the light switch, the door handle, around the paper towels, the walls etc etc etc By the time I came out, the order was already made, but my girlfriend asked me if I wanted anything for ourselves. I immediately said no. If the restroom is that filty, is that where the staff maintains their own hygiene while they're making the doughnuts? The one girl helping us appeared to be the only person working the store, so was she so busy that the restroom never gets cleaned? She was very kind, tentative and friendly. Because I was disgusted by the lack of cleanliness, I do not have an opinion on the taste or quality of their product...hence the 2 star rating.

That one was a chain, this is clearly a local family operation made fresh with from scratch recipes. The frosting dips were amazing as, though a sweet frosting were clearly made with genuine fruit. They hade a display case on the counter with one each of many flavors. As we chose the flavors we wanted, they seeped back and picked up freshly made donuts and dipped each into a container of the flavor requested . They then placed them into a box, no preset number required and why I never had a traditional Asian flavor at the place on my trip. We took them out into the food hall combined seating to sample them. We could not wait. The sad part about doing that is that set into the small box, they had stuck together in a sticky pile. Persisting them dry a little before packaging does have some benefits after all. Im not sure how to effectively do this though as the place is tiny and the line constant. Maybe a small reserve of not popular flavors would be worthwhile for busy Saturday mornings . It a close call between perfection and almost. Same with my stars, 4.5 would be perfect. We drove out that way for specialty local business for hiking gear repair and never knew how close this place is. We use another business nearby so we can stop here again later this winter. The flavors we got were ube( sweet potato) and surprising bland as I love sweet potato " anything"," strawberry, passion fruit and vanilla. My husband loves vanilla anything and felt it was a tie for me of strawberry and passion fruit. Park in the mall parking where you see the sign for The District and go in that door next to Otis Arts and Crafts and walk across the communal seating to the door for Nok's. The friendliness can't be beat!

It is advertised and signage for both businesses, sharing space and staff. So I will use and address these products together and post each business' Yelp page. We were in Longmont for one of my medical appointments and I knew firm a longtime Yelp fried that there were Michi donuts to be had here and her picture looked like something I wanted to try in the traditionally Japanese treat. I get out this way only a few times a year. WhenI mapped it on Google I found the 2 separate names. It's a cute place and deviated in lots of pink, very trendy these days. We chose our mochi donuts and shown how to order and lay at the kiosks on the wall. We ordered taro, matcha and black sesame. The black sesame was our favorite for both of us though I liked the other two flavors better than my husband did. We both ordered drinks but different ones. I ordered the pear tea with Brien sugar jelly and my husband ordered a green tea with boba. Mine had reduced sugar. The cups looked big but were more ice than fluid than I am used to in other shops in Boulder. But they were both very tasty and complimented the donuts very well. The tables were clean and predominantly empty as most customers were doing take out. The staff was very friendly and helpful but it was unclear to me if the donuts are actually made there, by then. The flavored frostings had a very thin layer and the flavors were lighter than a local shop in the neighboring town where we had some being made in a live kitchen and being served freshly made before our eyes. These were still good but the other place was stellar. Neither are close to home so we will only get to each when in their towns. If you are nearby and looking for a treat, stop in and enjoy. It's a pack of calories but sometimes needed. It's unclear to me if the ownership is franchised from both companies but the products make could partners.
