Used to love this place when it was Rocky Mountain Honda. Since Jack Carter took over I won't be back. They only sell new equipment/bikes and only work on Honda and Yamaha brands. When it was RMH they serviced all makes and models, had new and used equipment/bikes etc. I liked it was close in the south but I'll be looking for somewhere else to do my repairs on other brands. read more

I bought a used bike that was in good shape but I didn't like the front tire. It would howl going down the road if it was windy. I bought a new tire and went to this dealership to have them install it. They called me into the shop to tell me that the front forks were leaking and that the oil also soaked into the brake pads. I asked them to get the parts and fix the problems. They told me it would take a week to get the parts. 3 weeks later the parts came in!! Then the guy told me that they would do the work on the bike first thing in the morning and I would have the bike by the afternoon. When I didn't get a call I went in 2 days later and was told I could pick up the bike the next day. The guy seemed pissed off tha I showed up without getting a phone call first!! Overall not impressed. JFI, the bill was over $1000.00!!! read more

spent 1800 bucks on tires and fluid changes.. after bike parked went to use it and no brakes !.. needed to be bled after they changed brake fluid.. i phnd them and was told basically oh well the tech says he bled them .. they emailed me instructions on how to do it myself. will nvr go back. read more

Major attitude from the parts guy. Tried to make me feel stupid and muttered under his breath when I returned hand guards that wouldn't fit my bike. Second time I've had attitude with the parts guys. If they took the time to be helpful and maybe come up with an alternative solution maybe I wouldn't have also cancelled my appointment for service and a new tire right after he was a jerk. Lots of better places to get help in Calgary. I feel like their employees need some customer service training. read more

So I arrange with a Salesman to go in at today at lunch to put a deposit down and so they could look at my trade in (2016 Harley Street Bob). I paid $23K for the Harley, it has a dent on the fender thats it other than that its perfect. They salesman seems surprised I'm when I show up and doesn't know who I am or why I'm there, yet he set the appointment. They offer me $9300 on a trade for an Africa Twin and tell me I can't test ride the Africa Twin today as the Salesman doesn't know the test ride route. They tell me others on Kijiji are selling for $14K so they will give me $10K less the fender and tires (which do not need to be replaced). They not only insulted me but embarrassed themselves. I'm telling as many people as I can about this experience. What a terrible place to do business. I will not buy a motorcycle there....ever. read more

This place is awful. We setup a motorbike test ride in the morning for early afternoon and they said that the bike would be all ready to go. We get there, and there's a delay as somebody has it out. No problems - we'll wait. 1 hour later and they say that it's finally ready. Problem now is that they claim that to test ride the bike we need to put a substantial deposit on it. This isn't insurance but an actual deposit to secure the bike. Apparently it's management's decision. So yeah - we ended up leaving after having driven 45 minutes to the place, waited an hour and then had to drive 45 minutes back. Thanks Rocky Mountain - I want my time back. read more

*WARNING -DO NOT BUY FROM THESE TERRIBLE PEOPLE* MUST READ!!* I recently spent a small fortune on last years model of a new "e-bike" that was being cleared out by Rocky Mountain Honda. I live in Edmonton so all of my financing was pre-approved and the paper work was signed digitally. I drove from Edmonton the following weekend to pick it up after I was told everything would be ready to go. Upon arrival, I was then told that the individual who scheduled my appointment wasn't working that day and I would have to wait. 30 minutes later I was finally approached by a sales person (Dale) who took me to my bike. I was annoyed at having to wait but understood the situation. I had previously asked Rocky Mountain to charge up my bike before I arrived in hopes of taking a ride when I got home, which they did, but I pointed out that it was one bar shy of full when we turned it on. The sales person commented that the battery must have discharged 25% from sitting around. At that point in time, this comment was largely overlooked so we loaded up and off I went. After arriving home and while unloading the bike I noticed that there was mud splashed on the underside of the battery. I found this odd considering it was supposed to be brand new so this prompted further investigation. I began looking over the rest of the bike and additionally noticed a small scratch on the handlebars and that the handlebar ends were completely missing. It was now clear to me that my bike had already been ridden (used), obviously outside somewhere as evidenced from the mud. All of this before ever riding the bike but I was excited so I thought I would let it slide. The following day I finally took it for a ride and had a blast but was a little disturbed to find that one of the disc brakes were rubbing and there was a strange click coming from what sounded like the gearbox. I immediately called Rocky Mountain Honda to explain my concerns, I received a call back saying the brake noise was normal and not to worry about the click (Dale actually accused me of possibly cross-chaining). I was also told that they knew nothing about the scratch (and wouldn't do anything about it) but would send me new handlebar ends. This was a somewhat satisfactory answer at this point although my frustration was building. Fast forward to last night when a friend and I decided to go for a leisurely ride through the river valley to test out the new bike a little better. The clicking sound continued periodically but again, I thought nothing of it because I was told this was normal. About an hour into the ride while climbing a medium incline hill, I heard something snap and my chain fell off. Initially I had thought that my chain my have just jumped but upon further inspection discovered that my entire derailleur had completely snapped in half leaving me stranded. I was not riding fast at the time of the incident, nor was the chain under extensive tension while climbing this hill so abuse doesn't play a factor and I have a witness to prove that. I called Rocky Mountain Honda the next day (today) to explain my situation and to send over some pictures. Dale stated that he was going to speak with his manager and get back to me right away, 3 hours later I hadn't heard anything so I called back. I was then told that they determined I was clearly abusing the bike and must have struck something (because there was a piece of grass on the derailleur) and they weren't going to do anything!!! I was literally in the middle of an 8 foot wide clear path when this happened!!! I would argue in court that I have valid reason to believe this bike was USED prior to me purchasing it (at least 25% of a battery) and there's a high likelihood wasn't tuned properly to begin with...which makes sense in hind site. Rocky Mountain Honda's primary business is NOT e-Bikes, in fact Dale even mentioned he knew "very little" about them, so I would venture to guess they probably have motorcycle mechanics setting everything up. I should have known better and stuck with an actual professional bicycle shop for a purchase like this but I guess, lesson learned. For everyone else thinking about purchasing an eBike from these guys...be warned, they are very unprofessional and clearly don't know eBikes! I've since spoken to a couple of reputable bicycle shops in town and the general consensus is that the way my derailleur broke should not happen, UNLESS the start/stop set screws weren't adjusted properly or something was out of alignment when initial setup took place. I've spent tens of thousands of dollars on Honda products over the years..after this experience I will NEVER step foot in another Honda establishment as long as I live. I work in the customer service industry and this is NO WAY to treat your clients! read more

I see some pretty bad reviews on the sales side, but on the service and parts side my experience has been quite the opposite. I have not personally purchased a bike here or requested a test ride, so I can't speak to that. I had my Goldwing in for some recall work, and a rubber piece and a plastic tab was broken by the service guys in the process (there is a LOT of plastic on these bikes, and I'm sure not the favorite of a lot of mechanics to work on). This was actually partially caused by previous issues that had nothing to do with Rocky Mountain Powerhouse. Once I identified the issue, they did everything reasonable to make good for it. Replaced both affected parts with no problem. I found the overall attitude of both the parts guys and service guys to be stellar given the situation. Happy camper this go around! read more

I dealt with Rocky Mountain Honda recently. I had a recently purchased Honda Aquatrax delivered to their shop and asked that they perform an oil/filter change and run antifreeze through the machine. After stating that the oil change had been performed, they realized the machine would no turn over, but they would like to try a couple of things. They tried a fresh battery, plugs and jump starting the machine. The conclusion was that the engine was seized as they could not turn the drive shaft manually. Sad end to my story. No, it continues. When I received the machine a friend of mine and myself ( he's a 30 year industrial mechanic) decided to start trouble shooting. We pulled the pump off and were able to free the driveshaft within the first 20 minutes. Next, we look around in the hull and notice some oil in the hull. What do we look at next? My buddy suggests we take the oil filter off. The oil filter was not a "new" filter, in fact it was probably the original. The filter was loaded with metal filings. Hmmm, tell sign of internal damage. After further investigation we found a considerable hole in the block. So, I proceed to call Rocky Mountain Honda and spoke with both the service manager and the general manager. I said I wanted a full refund for the work performed. Or should I say, not performed? They were kind enough to refund me for an oil filter. Ya, I'm laughing as well. The argument was that I shouldn't have to pay for a service that wasn't done. If they did the first service that I authorized (oil AND filter change), they would have removed the filter and noticed all of the filings, called me and moved onto something else. read more

I am from bc and was having a hard time finding a stage 1 Honda snowblower due to a bc wide shortage. I managed to track one down in calgary at the Rocky Mountain Honda powerhouse. I reviewed excellent customer service. PHIL was able to find easy payment options for me despite 600km between us and within 4 days he had the snowblower delivered to a location that worked perfectly for me at a very reasonable cost. read more

I'm done with this place. I should have never bought a bike from them...but I did. I regret it everyday. Last year, in early spring, I went and asked about test riding a few bikes. Nothing fancy - an NC700X to be precise. I was on vacation for 2 weeks following the birth of my daughter, so I was able to shop around for a new bike having recently sold my 'beginner' bike. I connected with John at the dealership, who booked me in for a test ride - gave me a time and date to some down. I showed up on time and dressed in my gear ready to go...I was told it wasn't a good day to go for a test ride (too busy) and to come back tomorrow...which I did. I came back the following day and was told to come back the next day...I was getting a little annoyed at this stage, but I went back the third time. I was told to make an offer on the bike and put money down, then the test ride would happen. I was also informed that if I didn't like the bike for any reason, that I would be able to apply my deposit to another bike. So I'm committed to buying a bike no matter what..! I left... I went back when I found out about Honda demo days. Booked a ride on a NC750S. Showed up, no issues, got the test ride...ended up buying the bike shortly thereafter (a NC700S from previous year). Paid cash (credit and debit), clean transaction...no fuss. The deal was done over the phone while I was recovering from minor surgery. We agreed to replace the yellow tank stripes with grey ones and I also negotiated a $20 repsol diecast bike. Went to pick up the bike when I could ride again and once I had paid for it in full I was informed that I would not be getting the two extras I'd negotiated because the salesman, John, forgot to put it on the agreement. I left with the bike as I'm not going to argue over less than $100 of add-ons... Got about 100 yards down the road and the check engine light came on and the speedo went blank... Brought it back... They checked it out and claimed it was just 'water' getting into the sensors from giving it a wash... Rode it for a month or so...it happened again. Brought it back. Sat in the shop for a week. Only had the 'codes cleared'...nobody called me to say it was done... Rode it very little for the rest of the year. They did install the grey stripes at the second service (for the speedo issue) after I called and discussed it with the manager (english guy)...I'll give them that. first ride of 2015...same thing happened again..!! Took it back to the shop...third time now and I was told to prove it, or if the shop rode it and didn't see the issue nothing could be done. The code was logged in the ECU, and they did replace the speed sensor...I will pick-up the bike this Saturday. Took a week for that, good thing it was snowing. I'm not optimistic that the bike will be fixed, looking through the forums has convinced me of that. I was in this past Saturday, looking at bikes with my Father-in-law, and I was booking in the next demo days to ride the 650F and the VFR800...John was doing the booking, the manager (a tall English man) said to come in during the week and ride the demo bikes and not to wait for the demo days...John wrote the appointment down and we were set for tonight... I should have learned my lesson last year...but didn't... I called the dealer before leaving my house to confirm the test ride...was told to come on over...John called me while I was driving and said it was busy, but he could get me out on the VFR (the 650F was at home with an employee). When I got to the store John was busy. I went inside and talked to Jeremy to see if I could fill out the paperwork while John was busy...was told I had to buy the bike before I could test ride it...I explained what the English guy said on Saturday (and that John was part of the conversation) etc. etc. but I was told NO. Another waste of my time. This place doesn't treat customers with respect. Existing customers who pay for bikes CASH no less! I am making a commitment to myself right now - I WILL NEVER SPEND ANOTHER DIME AT THIS STORE. EVER. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER HONDA BIKE. EVER. This was the second and absolutely last time I will waste another dollar at this dealership. The service department appears to be motivated solely by profit but not quality of their work or their customers' safety. Serves me right for giving them the benefit of a doubt - never again! A couple years ago I was overcharged for unnecessary work and a rear tire that didn't need replacement. On this latest occasion after paying over $1300 for a 'service' that likely took their (dare I call him) mechanic one hour to perform, I have photographic proof that the work they charged me for was never performed. The work that Rocky Mountain skimped on could have resulted in me being seriously injured or killed, not just a clear-cut fraud case for the Better Business Bureau. My Rocky Mountain invoice states, among other things, they performed a full clutch fluid flush and replacement, yet the clutch fluid is still a coffee brown color and this morning when I tried to head out for a quick run down the highway there was so much air/water in the clutch line I couldn't shift down from 4th gear to come to a safe stop. The balance of the invoiced work is now all suspect and I've taken my bike to a 'qualified' motorcycle shop to have Rocky's work checked (costing me additional $ & time). Any new items my legitimate mechanic brings to my attention will be added to my fraud claim against Rocky Mountain. Save yourself from being ripped off and/or potential injury - choose anyplace else to get your motorbike maintenance work done. read more
