Buyer beware! We gave Barbara Safranek literally months to…read moredraw up a complete redesign of our small landscape. We wanted the plan on paper, as we were putting the plants in ourselves, and we had previously had a good experience at our last house in another state. She charged us twice her normal rate, just to put her plan to paper ($1,000!). Expensive, but It would have been worth it, if she had put in more effort on it. Here is a rundown of her mistakes, and how she treated us when we asked her to make things right: 1. She didn't come up with a plan until 6 months after we hired her, and just before planting (putting time constraints on changes). 2. In spite of a walk-through describing the complete re-do of the property, she failed to plan for 3 beds at the front and sides of the house. She didn't bother to take notes at the time, so she was just relying on her memory. Which isn't good enough when you procrastinate for 6 months. When I asked her to please complete what I asked her for in the first place, she threw in a couple of "tips" for plants in those three beds, instead of the thorough plan I asked for. 3. In addition to not even designing all of the beds as agreed upon she made rookie mistakes, like placing dense conifers right in front of a window, blocking both view and light. In parts of the plan she did not accurately do measurements or account for permanent structures in the landscape. Her placement of plants contradicted recommendations for spacing and light requirements for healthy plants given me by professionals who actually DO know plants. Then, not all plants in the plan were even labeled in the legend. All of the crisscrossing lines must have confused her when she went to double check that. If she double checked that. Then I couldn't even find most of the plants that she put on the plan, in local nurseries. In some cases those plant varieties had not been seen in local nurseries for YEARS. Finally, when I asked her to address the problems in the plan, instead of fixing them, she got huffy about my questioning her choices or work (When you are hiring her, she is sweet and personable. But she is extremely arrogant and unprofessional, once she gets her money, so if you do hire her, don't give her money up front and just trust that she will be professional!) I asked her to please fix the problems with the plan, or at least give us a partial refund on the printed out design, since it was full of mistakes. She told me that she usually works with clients (out of the goodness of her heart?) after she does a plan, but she wasn't going to do that for me (because I insulted her pride?). I can only surmise, that having procrastinated in doing the work for me, it cut into her time collecting jobs/receiving money from other clients. A year later, I am still paying for the mistake of hiring her. I am still faced with having to redesign my landscape by myself or hiring someone else to do what I hired her to do. I am still dealing with the aggravations that I hired her to prevent. I am baffled by the testimonials on this site. But then, they are all from 2013. Maybe they are friends of hers. Maybe she relies on the companies that implement her plans, to correct her mistakes on the fly. I don't know. I realize it is more difficult to put things into a plan, than to just artistically group colors and textures, and have someone else put in the plants. But that's why I paid her DOUBLE. I expected her to know her business and give me what I paid for. I don't know what happened in the five years since her last review in 2013. But you certainly can't trust those reviews now. Very, very dissappointed.

Not only was she a pleasure to work with but her professionalism and knowledge of plants is phenomenal. If we could give Barbara ten stars instead of 5, she would so deserve all ten. Both involved enlarging existing planting areas and removing some lawn to connect and enlarge existing planting areas, adding both trees and shrubs, and removing some existing plants. I have not spoken to my neighbor as to how things went, but I decided to contact PGD and requested a quote back in May. Tom came out, he is the designer. We said great, give us a design that includes a fire pit and helps keep water away from our foundation. He said he would come up with something. He said they have a crew that can start late July. A month went by, I called Tom and left a message that I am heading out of town and would like to get a bid. Tom and the estimator Jack showed up that day without responding to my message, they just showed up. My wife who wanted input was in her home office on a call with a client and could not get off. If we knew they were coming we would have made the arrangements. Either way, we had a pleasant visit and Jack and Tom appeared to have a plan in mind. A few more weeks pass and I call and speak with Tom. He said they have been real busy and Jack will have an estimate to me by the end of the following week. After that following week, I call and leave a message with Tom on his answering service. No response. A week later, I call the office directly and spoke with a very nice young receptionist that I left all my information with for Jack to please return my call. She assured he he would get the message. That was now 10 days ago. I did not give 1 star because I have not had them actually do any work for me. They did not get a 5 because they did not do any work for me. They do deserve a review because I did deal with their customer service through the bid process, and this review comes 3 weeks after they originally told me they can start. If there is a logical explanation as to why this went so poorly, I would love to hear it and I would adjust my review accordingly. But when I do business, or try to do business with a company, I will always give an honest review of how the process went. In this case, the process went nowhere.

NEVER AGAIN Transblue! This has been HANDS DOWN the WORST experience I have EVER had with a…read moreContractor. And never before have I found myself in the position of having to write such a NEGATIVE review ... about anything! But I feel a MORAL OBLIGATION to do so, so that others don't fall victim to the same. This company came recommended by ANGI's list. The owner came out to my property on 9/13/22 to give me a bid on a relatively simple and straightforward FENCING project - replacement of just TWO 50 ft sections of fence around my Winter Corral, plus installation of a GATE, so that my animals could have secure access to a big Barn during the Winter months. He emailed me a pretty 'slick' ESTIMATE, graphics and all, the VERY next day, though it was more than TWICE previous estimates I had gotten at least several months prior. When I told him very honestly that I was really "alarmed" by the total cost, he reduced it by almost half and said, "We will do an amazing job for you!" I thus moved forward with signing a Contract on 9/21/22 and made a hefty DOWN PAYMENT of $3,500+. Something I now wish I had never done! Weeks and weeks went by with NO COMMUNICATION whatsoever! No materials were EVER ordered or delivered, nor EVEN a projected START DATE given. And the more I nicely inquired about the latter, the more elusive were the replies, of none at all. Twice I expressed my concerns to the Owner via email about the weather turning cold and my need to have this project completed before Winter REALLY sets in, and for the sake of the animals. EACH TIME, I got a one line reply, saying "I will reach out to you tomorrow," or "I will call you tomorrow," but the calls NEVER came! After a solid SIX WEEKS had gone by, I was feeling increasingly anxious and concerned. And it was only then and when I first discovered OTHER very NEGATIVE reviews on YELP that I decided to CANCEL the Contract. When another customer writes about having to "hire a LAWYER" in an effort to recoup $16,000+, THAT is a MAJOR Red FLag!!! And most regrettably, I now find myself in the same situation with NO work ever having been compleated, nor EVEN begun. And here it is now mid-November. Perhaps there is some TRUTH to a former employee accusing the Owner of "stealing other people's money." In my own particular case, it does indeed now feel like a really bad case of 'TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN'! All efforts to reach anyone by phone at the Transblue Office have been totally in vain. Despite having left messages, no calls have been returned. I DID finally receive an email reply from the Owner just the other day, but only after I outlined an uncompromising 'course of action' I would be forced to take if I did not hear from him and receive a REFUND of my DEPOSIT right away. The latter has still NOT happened. And he told me in an email just yesterday that they "have until 12/21/22 to return the Deposit." So CLEARLY, he has been using MY money for OTHER purposes and NOT for the project for which it was intended. I think we call that, "Robbing Peter to pay Paul." Simply not acceptable in today's world and VERY SHADY business practice at best. This guy is in TROUBLE and he knows it on some level. The company is clearly in a VERY tenuous place financially. Were that NOT the case, a refund of my DEPOSIT would be issued RIGHT AWAY, no questions asked. But that has not been the case. Owner is also former military / Air Force and supposedly on 'military disability'. And much as I hate having to say this, I feel compelled to do so. Were he still on Active Duty and I his Commanding Officer, I would 'kick his ass to the curb' for flagrantly violating the CORE values in the Military CODE of CONDUCT - namely Honesty, Integrity and Accountability. In SUMMARY, this has turned out to be a TERRIBLE experience. And most unexpectedly so. It has left me in an enormous bind with Winter now upon us. And WORST part of all, not only am I OUT a LARGE amount of CASH, but there has been absolutely NO APOLOGY from the Owner. If this guy does not turn things around, and FAST, and conduct business based on expected Industry STANDARDS of Honesty / Transparency, Integrity, Accountability and truly Professional behavior, it is JUST a MATTER of TIME before this Ship GOES DOWN! Based on my own experience, I would thus AVOID Transblue at all costs!
