I have been seeing my doctor Nicole Cucinella for about 7 years at Rocky Mountain Primary Care - Westminster. She is a PA-C that really cares about her patients. She is knowledgeable, she listens to all of my concerns, discusses options for me and understand the issues I face as an aging woman. She does not rush me through appointments and takes as much time as I need. The times that she has not been able to see me if I have an emergency, I have seen Julie Sefcik, D.O and she is as equally kind, caring and attentive. I couldn't ask for a better team to rely on. So I was charged for the wellness visit and an office visit. Same appointment. Unreal. Then, they called me to review blood results. Guess what? Another $200. What a joke. Took an hour to attempt to make an appt and still did not get one made. Louisa, the front receptionist will answer your phone call in no less than 8 minutes (I had to call 3x); she's rude and short when asked questions (simple scheduling ques). I was transferred to the billing department for a specific insurance question and the billing department didn't know the answer (how?!) and transferred me back to which I waited for over 10 minutes on hold. When I called back, I waited for over eight minutes and then received a message that that location wasn't able to take my call. Based on the reviews, I will not pursue going here. First impressions are extremely important and this place is seriously lacking. read more

A few months ago my insurance didn't cover my full visit. RMPC sent a bill, the bill was somehow missed. About a month ago I called my pharmacy to get an approval on a refill for my anti-depressants and I was denied. Assuming it was a mistake, I called RMPC's office to immediately remedy the situation. I was out of refills and almost completely out of my anti-depressants that I've been taking for a year now, and I *knew* my PCP would know not to let me run out. To my dismay, I was told that I was on a "freeze" and that my PCP would not be able to see me until my account was cleared up. I called the billing department and explained that I didn't realize there was a portion that my insuarance didn't cover, that this was a complete oversight, and I was prepared to pay the unpaid balance of $110. The lady that I spoke to told me to call their collections dept and pay it off and I'd be back in good standing. Whew. Okay, cool. I called and paid my balance in full. When I called the next day to schedule my appointment, I was STILL denied access to health care and was told that my account had been terminated. Turns out they have a "1 strike policy". WTF?! I ended up off my meds for almost three weeks while attempting to get Rocky Mountain Primary Care to see me as a HUMAN that they were treating and not just a bill that wasn't paid on time. They knew my history and I was comfortable with Nicole Cuccinella. This is huge for me. It didn't matter. To anyone. I missed a payment, that is all that anyone cared about. No one cared that it was paid. No one cared that I had been a patient in good standing for two years. Or that prior to those meds, I was suicidal. No one cared. They even stopped returning my calls. I was never anything but kind each time I called. I never raised my voice. I know it always trembled, because I was always on the verge of a complete emotional breakdown. But I made sure to remind myself that it wasn't the person on the other line causing this. I needed my antidepressants, they were holding them hostage. The poor lady in the billing department seemed so heartbroken to have to turn me away each time. Probably why, in the end, she stopped returning my calls. There was nothing she could do, and we both knew it. Nothing mattered. I was denied access to my PCP. I was denied access to my antidepressants. I was denied access to basic human rights. It took me THREE WEEKS to be seen by someone. Three weeks COMPLETELY off of my meds that we're keeping me stable. If you know anything about antidepressants, you know how dangerous it is to go off of them abruptly. Had I not gotten seen by a new provider yesterday, I probably would have been admitted tomorrow. This is not okay and should be illegal to put a human being through. Every single human should have access to healthcare and necessary meds. Period. Period. PERIOD. read more

If you're looking for a pediatrician for your child(ren) do not go here. Every appointment they give you a HUGE packet to fill out to see if your child is meeting "milestones" - all they care about is that packet. They don't ask/check in on postpartum moms. They're unfamiliar with alternative options/feedback. They don't know much about child development. This is not a place for children. It's not warm or welcoming. They even gave us someone else's paperwork one appointment. We experienced rude staff at each visit as well. We had Nicole Cucinella and we wouldn't recommend her at all. read more

I've been coming here for years (started as a child and have mainly stayed because it's about 3 months out anywhere else to get an appointment) and after every visit, I'm honestly just more frustrated and angry at this place then I was the time before. The lack of care for the patients or bedside manner is insane. When trying to advocate for my own health (like request a specialist who could probably actually help since I've mentioned multiple symptoms that could be related )I've been talked down to, spoken to condescendingly, and treated like I'm stupid. I've been having some weird health issues and have been to about 8 appointments here alone this year, and every time they rule something else out they don't even bother to try to find another solution or option. Just "sorry we don't know what's wrong." When I come in for appointments, they often want to do tests they've already ran prior or I feel like they don't even remember who I am or what we've spoken about previously/ other issues I've been having. And I say this because my last appointment I literally was talking to her about something I had come in for a few months prior and when I mentioned it she had no recollection of what I was talking about. And yes, it was the same doctor. I feel like if they actually used their brains they could help me figure out what's going on with me instead of treating me like an idiot. I cringe every time I have to make an appointment here. Save yourself the disappointment-don't come here. read more

I went to the Westminster practice when I had the flu. I have no complaints regarding the physician. My complaint is that my prescription was not sent until I called the practice multiple times. By the time they finally sent my prescription, the pharmacy was out of the drug. When i called the practice to ask for them to send the prescription somewhere else, with no instruction or explanation, they transferred me to an extension that no one answered and it had no recording. I had to go back into their practice and stand there while they sent the prescription and I asked them to call and check stock. So, I missed two extra days of work, and when you have the flu any medical professional will tell you that you need to start meds ASAP. I will never go back to this practice. read more

Dr. Covell is new and he is terrible. I was a patient at this office for 15 years. My Dr. left so I started seeing Dr. Covell. About the same time my insurance changed and I was treated much differently by RMPC. Dr. Covell started asking me to come in for a separate office visit to get my asthma medication prescribed for the year, aside from my annual physical. When I questioned them about this they told me I needed to find a new Dr. There are some very kind people at this office, and some monsters. I saw Dr. Peter Hansen a year ago. He prescribed 3 RX. When I requested he approve refills for a year because I travel full-time, he hesitated. When he did finally agree, he required a new request every 3 months. That in itself became a major hassle. Especially when I couldn't return to Colorado as expected and needed him to authorize an additional month. Dr. Hansen is rude and arrogant. His staff is incompetent. When I did call for refills, I usually had to call more than once to get it done. FYI...I do not take any controlled substances for my RX. Refusing 30 additional days is just mean. read more

I called to make an appointment as a new patient after being referred from my new insurance company. When I explained the condition I wanted to be seen for, I was asked if I was on medication. I said no, then the receptionist responded with "well we don't do pain meds if that is what you are looking for." I told her that I am not looking for pain meds, I am looking for help from a doctor into determining the root cause of my pain. She reiterated that they don't do pain meds, in which I again stated that I am not looking for pain meds, and told her I was uncomfortable with what she is insinuating. She never once apologized, and then started asking other questions for the appointment. I ended up telling her that I was uncomfortable with the tone of the conversation and do not think this is the office for me. She said "ok" and again never offered an apology. Incidentally, pain meds are typically not an option for me as I am very sensitive to them, so it actually had not crossed my mind when calling. Being treated like a drug seeker with no basis is just not what I was anticipating when I called to make an appointment. read more

Why why why didn't I reviewed Yelp before going there? I was using United healthcare website that gave me a price range for a simple visit I had. Before scheduling the visit I ask them - what is the price range of what I needed? They didn't know to tell me. When I got the bill ($175, really?) and called billing they said and I quote "This is not our problem, this is a new patient price"... Really? Why is the new patient price is so high? they told me I can talk to the doctor so I called his desk and left a message for him to call me back. It's been 4 weeks and I'm done waiting. I was looking for a new primary and went here based upon doctor reviews. I had to see a PA (usually not a problem). Asked for a prescription refill from my previous doctor in another state. PA said I needed to have blood testing first. Sounds fine. Didn't warn me it might not be covered by insurance. Got the results back, he wouldn't refill my prescription, AND now I'm out over $1,000 because it was not covered. I've never seen a doctor that did not warn me first that a procedure or test might not be covered. read more

There are many doctors to choose from at this RMPC location. My Yelp shout out goes to Dr. Hirons - a.k.a. Medical Saint Dr. Hirons is a doctor that actually cares and listens to his patients. I'm not the kind of person that likes to throw medication at whatever health problem comes my way. I prefer to let my body handle and fight off whatever possible. Dr. Hirons understands this. He doesn't *fake listen* (as we've all had doctors do) and toss you a prescription. He really takes the time to discuss all available options and does a fantastic job of educating his patients. In general, he's a very welcoming and all around good human being. The front desk staff has always carried themselves in the same way. The smiles and greetings from all of the staff has always helped to take some anxiety out of visiting the doctor. Thanks SO much to everyone there! read more

I walked in (cuz my husband just got diagnosed with viral bronchitis) and I was not feeling well and coughing so I thought I would go in too. They 'ran tests' and said I didn't have anything. Then I started to get nausea and ended up throwing up but still.... they were like well we will try the nausea pills and have a check up in 24 hours. Are you serious??? I had the throwing up on Monday and now while in the office and what??? I had to have my husband come pick me up cuz I couldn't drive I was in pain and all I left with were nausea pills... wtf ever... read more

Every receptionist there is very rude, every time i call its a rude experience i get. This was the final straw to post on Yelp, called yesterday and used the phone tree to go to Dr Gordons receptionist, as i started explaining she cut me off saying "sir this is not Dr Gordons desk, you are at the wrong place", i proceeded to tell her that i used the phone tree to get to Dr Gordons desk, she cuts me off again asking "how can i help you?". I just called today, asked the lady a question and her reply was "i dont know" and dead silence after as if that was her final answer. I asked her to please find out for me instead of saying "i dont know" and nothing else, she was then more upset it seemed cause i made her get out of her chair to go ask. I went to see the PA Nicole today. She thought I was having some type of infections, so she said she was going to prescribe antibiotic. We went to the pharmacy twice and they didn't have the prescription. We called the office and was told everybody already left for the day because today is a half day of work. I am sitting home with 102 degree temperature and in so much pain. At first, the receptionist said that I have to wait until Monday. Are you kidding me? Then we kept pushing the issue so she receptionist said she was going to call "doctor" on call but we have been waiting for almost an hour and haven't heard back. What a terrible thing to do to a sick person. I have been going to that office for the last 5 years and that's how they treated me. Sad. Aren't they supposed to care? While in the middle of a move a bill for $ 75.00 not covered by insurance was not received and as a result my whole family was terminated as patients ! Really!? $75.00 !!! What a stupid policy! The bill was paid when it was figured out but we still have been removed as patients. She told me after hearing my symptoms that I had an ACCIDENTAL ABORTION. That I needed blood test done and an ultra sound. A week later I finally found out the test results of my blood work that I was not pregnant in any way shape or form. I missed the day of work that she told me I had an ACCIDENTAL ABORTION, the emotional stress and anxiety from a doctor telling you you had one and not finding out for a week that what she said was false. I have been a patient at Rocky Mountain Primary Care for many years. The staff members are always polite and professional. I was really feeling bad today and needed to get in to see the doctor....it was either an office visit or a trip to the er. I was informed my PCP didn't have any time to see me...they somehow managed to wiggle me in. Dr. Hirons is a a true gem. He takes time to listen, access, and make suggestions as to how to resolve healthcare issues. He is patient, caring, and understanding. He treats you like a person, and communicates effectively. Nancy in the lab is a sweetheart, even though she is tasked with drawing your blood. Hats off to RMPC. read more

They take months to help with any problems costing you and your insurance a ton of cash! They don't listen to how you feel and want to make full decisions on your health without listening or caring how you feel! If they can't find the issue it's not a problem. If you don't do what they want they refuse to help you and want you to come in multiple times explaining the same issues. Dr. Grossman is my physician there and he was very professional and helpful. He answered all my concerns. Also, the access to care is great. If you need an appt. you are not stuck waiting for weeks. So glad I found this place! Also the nurse was very pleasant to me as well. I used to work as an MA and it's definitely stressful at times. But she treated me very kindly. I didn't feel rushed or as inconvenience. The provider also had a transcriber w him so he was able to talk directly to me instead of being on his computer the whole time. I have been a patient there for over 20 years. Seen a lot of doctors and other staff come and go. Dr. Hirons is the BEST doctor in the practice which is why I am giving it a 3 and there are several doctors choose from in the practice. Nurse Practioner Heidi is great too. Dr. Straub and her nurse Christina, are horrible. I take my kids there and have never had a problem with them taking my insurance. Because I personally hadn't been there in 2 years and am now on Medicaid, I felt she was rude and talked down to me. She said because I did not tell the receptionist that I changed insurances that "I have a problem". If Dr. Straub took my kids before (on medicaid) why would I think to tell them I switched insurances. Long story short, I had a painful, oozing lump under my arm and they turned me away. Once I am back on my feet and have regular insurance, I will still never go back to her. Dr. Hirons is the only one I will see and I will wait to get on his schedule. read more

Unprofessional - RNs wear street clothes; med assistant takes BP incorrectly; MD uses outdated & slang terminology; 1/2 staff leaves before last appointment is finished. Receptionist insisted on co-pay without verifying with insurance ($0 was due for this appointment - and they can't refund money - only credit toward next visit - who would WANT to go back???). MD moves & speaks as though he is impaired on drugs. None of the staff knows how to perform phlebotomy on Fridays (but they scheduled my blood draw appointment on a Friday!). MD confused why someone would want to be proactive in health. HIPAA violation/sanitary risk - open urine cups in bathroom with patient names on them. read more

I have been a patient at this practice for over 25 years. I am mystified by the bad reviews. I have always been treated with courtesy and respect. My most recent visit was a few days ago. I had burning and rash on left foot. Could not get in to see my regular doc (Ozbay) but got an appointment the same day i called with Dr. Grossman. Wonderful experience. No waiting, gentle doctor who correctly diagnosed my case, perscribed correct meds and i feeling 100 percent better overnight. Several people i know go to this practice. I first went to the Broomfield office for Rocky Mountain Primary Care (RMPC) 8 or 9 months ago. I got a refill on my allergy meds that I have been taking for 15 years with no issues. This month, my insurance changed so that I need to get 90 day supply of allergy meds sent instead of picking up meds every 30 days. When I called in to see why RMPC wouldn't work with my 90 day prescription supplier and to see if they could switch my remaining refills to 90 days from 30, I was treated like I was stupid or a criminal or something. According to RMPC, I need to come in every 6 months, per their policies, if I'm on maintenance medication like my allergy meds. First the receptionist Sharon scolded me for not coming in every 6 months when I've never heard of this before and was wondering why they would even give me a year supply if it needed to be a six month review situation. They never contacted me to come in at 6 months, I still have over 90 days of supply left on my allergy prescription, and I doubt my insurance covers random visits based on RMPC's policies alone. Sharon became angry with me when I said I just needed the final 90 days of my prescription filled through the mail order company, and kept berating me for not wanting to pay for an additional visit just because my insurance wants me to use a different pharmacy. After a huffy exchange punctuated with "Are you there??" thrown about if I literally took a single breath before replying, she at least put the request through to send the new Rx company what they need for my final 90 days on this prescription. She warned me that Nicole Cucinella, who wrote the Rx, would probably deny my request unless I came in for a 6 month review. I was called back an hour or so later by another receptionist; I do not recall her name. She too made it seem like I was trying to steal from them or something, and like I was stupid for not divining from the universe that their policies include a 6 month appointment for a maintenance medication I have been on for 15 years with no such previous half-year appointments. I explained again that I didn't want a new year long prescription- just to have the final 90 days written out to the new mail order company. She said she had spoken with Nicole Cucinella, and the only way they would let me fill the rest of my prescription through the group my insurance will work with is if I make an appointment to come in immediately. When I said I would come in for my yearly appointment in 3 months, but that I would need to schedule closer to the date, she remained snide and condescending. She said I can't have a refill until I come in. I explained again that I didn't want a refill or an extension, just for the remaining 90 days to be written in a way the mail order Rx people can use, she kept talking to me like I was stupid and couldn't do math. She finally said that she would let Nicole Cucinella know that I wouldn't come in, and ended the call in the same short, snide, rude manner with which I have been treated by both receptionists. I feel like I have done something wrong and deeply offensive by just trying to get my allergy medication filled. I will be looking for a new practice that doesn't treat me like I'm a pain in their butt for wanting to get my prescriptions filled. read more

I wish I could rate this practice zero. I wish I could rate Dr. Gordon a zero. His neglect almost cost my brother his life. I was in the office with my brother for three visits. My brothers chief complaint was chest pain along with jaw pain and left arm pain. On the first visit Dr. Gordon brushed off my brothers complaints. That was on a Thursday. The next Tuesday we were in the office my brother had the same complaints he asked if he could be his heart Dr. Gordon stated it's not your heart. He told my brother that your pain is not following the neurological path so it's not your heart. My brother asked for an EKG but was refused. He was sent home with tramadol for the pain. On the last appointment within the same week on Thursday I was driving my brother to the doctor with the same symptoms only it was worse. It was getting worse and on the way there I new he was having a heart attack. I was already passed the hospital so I had to go into the doctor office. I tried calling ahead but was put on hold When Dr. Gordon entered The room with a smirk he said now what paint do you have? Luckily the nurse was on the ball and started an EKG. As soon as Dr. Gordon looked at the EKG he said call 911 you're having a heart attack. They gave him the Nitro pills and baby aspirin and called for an ambulance. He was rushed to the hospital for surgery and luckily he survived. Dr. Gordon should be ASHAMED of himself he's an extremely neglectful doctor. Any doctor or anybody in a medical settingwould know that my brother symptoms were textbook heart attack. This situation is totally ridiculous. I urged people not to go to Dr. Gordon he shouldn't even be practicing medicine. DR. GORDON you should be ashamed of your carelessness and unprofessionalism. read more

Would rate this doctor's office a zero but Yelp requires at least one star. Had probably the absolute worst experience with a doctor's office in my life. Nurses are extremely rude and the office staff makes the nurses seem nice. When they finally call you back with test results and to discuss timeline due to the pain I am in, no sense of compassion, empathy or simple common courtesy. Mind you, I had to call them two days after they said they would call me! Super upsetting especially when you have been a patient at this practice for a very long time. The icing on the cake is having to deal with Dr. Gordon. Hands down the least professional doctor I have ever met while he was on the job. Since I decided to in his words "fire" him for his complete incompetence, would not order the follow up test needed for a serious medical issue I have. Attempted to have my girlfriend call and schedule but Dr. Gordon's assistant decided to start reading off notes from my patient file about how disappointed I had been with the doctor and staff.
