I think I found my new favorite soap/hygiene store. It's like Lush and other high-end soap, skin care, hair care type places. BUT what sets this one apart is how their shampoo and conditioner bars make my hair feel. I was using Kitsch... Rocky's is 100x better. (IMO) It doesn't get super "lather-y" but it does get slippery so that you can easily apply it to your hair. And the results.... amazing (for me). I often... and usually air dry my hair. I have naturally curly hair which easily "frays" and "frizzles" if I don't put product in it. With Rocky's product... my hair has this amazing shine and NO frizz/frays. And my hair curls into ringlets like it used to when I was a child... just by air drying it. After my shower, I gently towel dry my hair, run a wide comb through it.. and then letting it air dry. As we were traveling in Canada everywhere I went I saw soap from them and it just smelled so good. I knew I had to check out the store before we left. The store here in Banff is great, cute little shop and smells so good & dainty little spot. We are from California and loved many of the things they had but not much space in our backpacks to take much with us. The Girl that helped us out said they shipped and if it was over a certain amount it would be free shipping. So our shopping started. I got a fun pack they had with 5 different items for $61 and it was a great deal. Their soaps, lotions, candles and face products are great! Their displays are easy to just pick out what you think you want and love that they have testers so you can smell and try before purchasing. It was easy to get my info down and my items will arrive 5-10 business days and she threw in there a beautiful green bag that say's Rockies that I was so happy about. A must visit!! We went to their larger location in Canmore, and also stopped by the one in Banff and loved it! Our friends told us that a few years back, they loved the lemongrass soap from this company so much, that they decided to check in a suitcase just to bring this soap back home to Hawaii. Thankfully we live in Oregon now and we were driving so we brought some back for them! We got some very yummy smelling bar soaps as well (juicy orange, tea tree, peppermint, and of course lemon grass). Similar concept to Lush but much cuter and less gimmicky. There are a handful of scents that are consistent with each product and every product serves a deliberate purpose. The employees are incredibly kind and passionate about the products. Clearly all of Canada loves them as well because I kept seeing their liquid soaps in every restaurant bathroom I visited. In my one week trip to Canada, I visited two different locations and purchased a variety of bath bombs and the breakout stick (good for breakouts, chapstick, eczema). They ship to the US as well so I will be brining even more of Canada home with me. read more

I have been a long-time fan of Rocky Mountain Soaps. I first discovered this small specialty soap shop in Canmore back in 2004 where I've met the owners. I'm from Los Angeles and come to Calgary twice a year to visit family and always take a nice drive up to Canmore to stock up on my favorite scents. I can easily spend 2-3 hundred dollars on each trip I make to RMS which were all worth it! The bar soaps are my favorites and I can say that I've most likely tried them all. They don't just smell amazing but works really great for the skin without leaving harsh residue unlike regular bar soaps. I also love that these soaps are good for the environment and are cruelty-free. I have given them as gifts during the holidays and have received wonderful compliments. They used to have a rewards system a few years ago and they cancelled it without notice. I was saving all my rewards points and didn't get to use them sadly. It would be nice for them to be able to keep track of their loyal customers. read more

We came for the tour and left with so much more!! It was cool to see the factory and how everything is made, we even got a sneak peek at the new theme soaps for the next month! I found it to be very informative and a wonderful experience. Near the end of the tour we got to put together our own little bath salt jars and pick out our favorite soap to take home with us. I would recommend this tour to anyone, and I would do it again some day for sure - I know a few people that I could take that would love it just as much as I did. read more

I'm not into skincare products, but Rocky Mountain Soap turned that old school thought upside down. I love the attention to detail in their care for our environment. I started off with their liquid hand soap. I'm viet and love that they use lemongrass in their products. I was very skeptical when it came to using a natural deodorant. It took a week for my body to figure out what was going on. It works. I just wish that RMS had a better Yelp profile photo and what does SOAPN backwards even mean? That window displays gotta go. Really good customer service. I went in not really expecting to buy anything. But I found exactly what I wasn't looking for. I got a moisturizer for this cold Canmore weather and a face scrub to get all the dry skin off and brighten the tone. Love the smell. I also like that they have products that you can refill rather than throwing out your bottle and getting a new one. Really good initiative. I was walking around Canmore today doing some last minute Christmas shopping and walked by Rocky Mountain Soap. I had been to the store in Banff yesterday but only bought for myself, so I thought I'd check it out again. Yesterday was the first time I had bought anything from any of the store, so I can't comment much on the products yet. They are all natural and they seem to have a nice variety of products, from your standard hand and foot creams and of course lots of scents of soaps, to bath salts and lip chap and skin care. Another nice bonus was the small bars of soap they gave us for free when we walked in. I was looking for a few little things for my Nonna. There were a few pre-made gift packs, of the type that are all one scent. I wanted to make my own little gift pack, and I was able to do that with no problem. They even gave me a gift box and tissue paper for free! That's a really nice touch, as I expected the box to cost a few dollars. The thing that stood out for me at this store were the staff. There were two ladies that I interacted with and they were both extremely friendly and helpful, asking me if I needed any help and answering my questions with enthusiasm. I was seriously impressed with their customer service and I would be pleased to shop there again. The only minor downside to the store is that it is quite small and people had to squeeze by each other in certain spots, but it's not a big deal. read more

Love this little soap shop right on the main drag in Canmore. We visit Canmore quite regularly, either for day trips, geocaching fun, hiking, camping nearby or just to get out of dodge and go to our favourite little place (Rose & Crown) in the mountains for lunch. Just this past Christmas we spent a couple days in Canmore with family and explored everywhere we could. We've been a few times since. And so true to form every time we visit Canmore I find a reason to visit the Soap Store..(need a gift for the pet sitter, need to see what's new...need a new soap for....yes there is always a reason!!) They are always polite and helpful when you come in...we always have the kids with us and as such are never a quiet group, so a place that puts up with us is always a keeper in my books! I used to be a devout customer and huge fan of RMSC, until they got too big for their own good. The prices are ridiculous: $54 for a 1 litre bottle of hand sanitizer---on first glance, it appears to be COVID price-gouging, until you look at their other prices. "Regular" soaps for $7 a bar; and the "new limited edition fall soaps" for $12 a bar? Obviously, they are now catering to the high-end, money-doesn't-matter Kardashian crowd; regular folks can't afford prices like that. Even the empty brown (pardon me: "amber") glass bottle with a plastic pump is $10! For all their warm, fuzzy emails about environmentalism, toxin-free, and consumer responsibility (yada, yada), they are about capitalism at its irresponsible height, charging the highest dollar that they possibly can. We found Rocky Mountain Soap Co after loving their products provided at the hotel we were staying at in Canmore, Basecamp Lodge. The lemongrass handsoap smelled incredible and the shampoo and conditioner left our hair so soft and clean for days, we couldn't believe it was non-toxic! Went to their store in town and purchased a deodorant that works amazingly, just as well as my previous toxic one. The staff was also so helpful, gave me a rundown of the product as it was my first time purchasing a non-toxic deodorant and even gave us advice and recommendations of hikes to do around town the following day. This is the main branch, a Canadian owned company. Before Vancouver recently had their store in Metrotown this year I would actually order here, the originators. I was gifted years ago their soap which I fell in love with. Whenever one of my guy friends came back to Vancouver from AB for work he would pick up a few bars for me as presents and of course as a favor. I buy and use a cold of cold and mix pressed soaps, however, I am more into the fragrance line. I appreciate that it is all natural as I've been sensitive to chemicals lately. read more

Then, around my birthday, which was on the 9th, they were nice enough to send me a birthday wish, which was really sweet, since I don't really know anyone in this town. Stopped in and was intrigued by the Pumpkin Patch soap which is supposed to help skin with eczema. I have very sensitive skin that is easily irritated by products with perfume or chemicals. All of their products are 100% natural. Handmade soaps, aromatherapy and skin care items are just a few of their lines. The sales woman was very friendly and full of information about the various products. I fell in love with their hand butter and foot butter products which are packaged in a container resembling a solid deodorant stick. Very clever way to package the product and you don't have to worry about applying a messy lotion or cream. Just twist and rub the product onto hands or feet - you don't even have to remove your jewelry to apply it which I think is a big plus. I immediately noticed a difference with how my skin felt after applying the product - very soft. I've been using both products (hand/foot butter) for a few weeks now and they are just wonderful! My hands and feet feel the best they ever have in a long time. They also sell a smaller sized version of each, which would be handy to keep in your purse or gym bag. I wash my hands quite often and never seem to have hand cream on me. The small hand butter is a great purse size and perfect to use after washing.
