Starting off saying 12/10 recommend! Got my MYP & first ever EV a few weeks back--with the recent heat wave, I got my windows tinted on Wednesday. Matt (owner) of Rocky Mountain Windowtint in Livermore did the best job I've ever seen out of all my cars. He took the time & recommended shades to match the factory color in the rear with seamless transitions from front to back. **Side note for Model 3's: he does a single piece of film for the rear window--not like most that only do 1/2 the glass worth, leaving an apparent transition from roof glass to rear window** Because of the white interior, it appears lighter on the outside during the day, but definitely not on the inside. Obviously, it's darker in the morning/night but still have complete visibility. The work was superb--you literally can't tell where the tint begins/ends on the windows. He had it completed in about 2 hours and wiped down the body panels where any spray may have gone. He's well worth the drive to Livermore if you're outside the area--he's always super busy, so book appointments in advance. Matt did a phenomenal job tinting both of my vehicles (2022 Toyota Tacoma, 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8) as well as my parent's car (2024 Toyota Prius Prime). Selected FormulaOne Pinnacle ceramic film on all cars mentioned on every window except the windshield. Scheduling is easy and Matt acted in a professional manner in all of our interactions. Each car was done in 2-2.5 hours and the tint is cut perfectly in-line with the windows. Price is reasonable as I paid $515 for my Tacoma including removing the old window tint on the front sides. Facility is clean and well kept. There is a waiting room and a table can be brought out just in case you need to do any work while waiting. Side note for Evo 8/9 owners: Matt did a good job removing and reinstalling the rear wiper on the Lancer Evo. read more

Did a deep dive on where to get our Model 3 Highland tinted and landed on this place. 5 stars across all platforms - Matt did an amazing job. Everything is seamless and the price was more than reasonable for the quality of tint and workmanship - paid 829 for front and rear doors with back glass and windshield. Wish I had taken my Impreza here a year ago. Aire 80 on the windshield, 20% on front doors and 5% on the rear doors and glass, Pinnacle series. Definitely made a huge difference driving around in this heat wave. Had about a 2 week wait from when we inquired but would have waited longer for this quality. The place has great reviews and price is good but to me, the quality wasn't as high as other places I have been. There were pieces of plastic stuck between my film after the install. Small but easily visible. One was right in my line of site. They created little bubbles because obviously the film wasn't flush against the glass. I install tint on every car I own, all windows, and never had this issue before. He replaced the film on one side window, which was the worst, but said he wouldn't do the others. And he still managed to get some plastic in the replaced window though! So I wasted my time coming back. Anyways I came here because it was cheaper than the place I normally go to but I will not be coming again because the quality is not good enough. I don't know if he was having an off day (twice) or equipment trouble but that's not my problem. His customer service skills could use some improvement as well. Got my new Tesla model 3 windows tinted today. When I decided to get the car window tinted. I started looking into Tesla forums and online reviews to see what are the best options. It was either 3M or Llumar formula one Stratos ceramic tint. Reached out to multiple vendors in Yelp for quote and options. After quiet some back and forth realized Rocky Mountain was the best value option. Went with Llumar Formula One Stratos Ceramic tint 30% tint all around the car. Matt the Owner and sole employee of Rocky Mountain was a no B.S guy who has been in this business for 3+ decades. He quoted me a price and explained how he uses single sheet to cover all windows including the rear windshield. He used a 72" wide film to keep it to one piece. The workmanship was of best quality. The total job took 2.5 hours. The rear window took most of the time. As you can see on the picture Matt took the extra time to protect the electronic items by wrapping it up in plastic so water doesn't get into by accident. For this he has to open the panel. The attention to detail was immaculate. Talking to Matt this is a father to son business. Matt got into this business when he was 18. Lot of years of hard work and learning. A small business doing quality work. Matt said he believes when you do quality work and provide best value to the customer business will come to you. That is true as he is super busy. Had to wait 6 weeks for a weekend appointment but worth it. I couldn't find any other installer for this product less than what Matt quoted. The rear window tint cover the entire windshield and not just 1/2 way like some tint shops quoted me. Matt was cleaning garbage as he went performing the work. Kept the work area clean all times and protected the car well before starting the job so no stains get on the car. So far I am happy with the job and will recommend Matt to my friends. read more

Matt is good peoples. I don't even remember how I first found this place, but this is my 5th car I've brought, and each one has been similarly flawless from the get go. I think he is a one man show as I have never seen any helpers, which makes it even more impressive that he can get through a car in 4 hours. Waiting area is small, so plan to walk over to Panera or McD to wait out your car, if that's what you choose. It's a short walk over. Install bay is large and very clean. My latest ride is a Model 3 and I got him to lay some Pinnacle 25 on all windows and Air 80 on the front windshield. Always recommend some light film on the windshield of EVs, just to bring down the temps on hot summer days and to keep the car as efficient as can be. The 25 is the perfect shade for this black ride. I've had 35 and 20 before, and they were too light or too dark for my taste. 25 is just right. Worth the one month lead time for sure. read more

Matt Truly is a tint wizard, I got a BMW tinted from him years ago and I still think about that tint job to this day, it was flawless, got the side window dot matrices perfect (look this up, it's not something most shops bother getting right) -- and the film lined up perfectly with the edged, literally perfectly. This is what every shop is supposed to do, but they just usually don't bother... I wish I got my most recent lineup tinted by him before I had to move out of the area on short notice... Yelp is getting super creepy. Like this pretend blurb they wrote had parts of the review i'm about to write that is correct. Anyway, writing this update for pre-pandemic since I just helped my relatives schedule an appointment and remembered that I stopped by to get one of my windows re-tinted due to a break in. Long story short was that the thieves broke the driver side rear window, not the triangle, and got into my trunk and stole my work bag. Honestly I would be less angry if the thieves found me and said, "I know there is a laptop in your trunk, give it to me or I shoot/smash the window" You know why? The car was my commuter. Getting a replacement window from Tesla is a hassle. Cleaning up the glass shards is a hassle. Getting it re-tinted and ceramic coated again is a hassle. After an ordeal trying to get a new window from Tesla (it was in February/March 2020 right before lockdown where rain was a thing), I called up Matt and asked if he could fit me in on a Saturday to get that one window tinted. He said yes, it'll be a half an hour since it is just one and can fit me in. Thank god cause the world shut down like a few weeks later and I would've been driving around looking ridiculous with one un-tinted rear window. On the day I stopped in, Matt took in my car and we opted to wait in his lobby for him to quickly tint the window since it should be ~20-30 min. I was able to watch a master at his craft. You ever see someone that makes their job look easy? Matt handled tinting the window with ease, and grace. It's honestly beautiful to watch how it's done, how Matt maneuvers the film, cuts it, sprays with water and adheres it to the window. Done. Adhered in the blink of an eye. Just got to cure with a heat lamp for 15 minutes. After it was done, he brought my car out front. I paid for the re-tinting and had a quick chat with Matt about how he has had to re-tint so many rear triangles/ rear windows on Teslas cause they keep getting smashed out. It is an unfortunate design convenience that is taken advantage of. But I'm an extremely happy camper. The tint is cut and cured to perfection. I highly recommend coming here to get your windows tinted. Just prepare for a bit of a wait as he is usually booked a month out. I made my appointment the beginning of August and got in mid September. But that's because I needed a Saturday appointment. If you're open any day of the week you might not have to wait as long. This was my 3rd vehicle I've brought here and each one came out really good. This was the first one I've had all the windows done. Usually just did the rear windows since they were cars I drove everyday. You can tell by the edges of the window just how good his work is. With some of the cheaper places around, if you look at the top edges of the window you'll notice it's a bit uneven. I went with the Pinnacle Ceramic on the front (5%) and back (20% over my factory tint). It came out to ~$500 for a total of 7 windows, 9 if you found the rear doors as 2 windows on each side. There was a cheaper option but 5% color was closer to green than black, if that makes sense. This was the 2nd tier option. There was a level above Pinnacle Ceramic, I can't remember what it was called, which I believe was more expensive, however, it only went to 15% and I wanted something darker. I think it was better at keeping out the heat. Again, I highly recommend this shop and I'll continue to bring my cars/trucks here as long as he stays open. read more

I just came across some Rocky Mountain Window Tint paperwork for my wife's 2005 Acura TL which we bought in 2009 (used). The car wasn't tinted when we bought it, so we had it done here and they did a fantastic job and there was no indication that it wasn't a factory job. VERY NICE!! Here's the kicker... we just sold the car last June 2021 and there wasn't a single bubble, defect or fading indication of any type in the tinting. Still looked factory new which is more than I can say for the factory paint which had a lot of oxidation. To tell the truth, I forgot we had it tinted until I came across the paperwork. I'd say that's a testament to Rocky Mountain's tinting! We've been buying new cars (with tint) ever since so I haven't used them recently, but I highly recommend them.
