It doesn't really have a tourist feel that some beach areas have since it's just the beach itself (no shops/food or anything like that). It's not a huge area, but we came during low tide and walked around the more rocky area before the tide started rising. They do have restrooms at the parking lot. Although, the restrooms were disgusting when I was there, so I'd avoid it if possible. (Not flushing toilets.)

Muir Beach feels like the California people imagine, but quieter and more honest…read more Instead of a crowded boardwalk or lines of shops, you come down a winding road through coastal hills and suddenly the land just opens up. The ocean isn't bright blue like postcards, it's deep gray-green, powerful, and constantly moving. The waves don't gently roll in... they crash. You feel it in your chest before you even step on the sand. The sand is darker and softer than most beaches, almost cool even in the sun. Behind you are tall grasses and weathered driftwood, not hotels. In front of you is nothing but horizon. There's a small creek cutting through the beach and a wooden bridge crossing it, which somehow makes the whole place feel more like a nature preserve than a tourist stop. People aren't blasting music or playing volleyball, they're walking, breathing, taking pictures, or just sitting quietly watching the water. If you want a loud beach day, this isn't it. If you want to slow down and actually feel the ocean, this is one of the most peaceful places near San Francisco.

We hiked from Tennessee Valley to…read moreMuir Beach and decided to hike through the valley on our way back instead of an out and back. What an incredible stumble upon in the midst of our hike. Pictures don't do this beautiful spot justice. It felt unreal when we walked up to the garden then through the zen center. We merely wandered through the grounds, we didn't take advantage of any services so I can't attest to what is available on the grounds besides the incredible gardens. Our round trip hike was almost 10 miles and worth every step taken. Beach, redwoods, valley rolling hills, gardens filled to capacity with beautiful blooms, veggies, and lovingly sculpted grounds. Truly an incredible experience and what a treat to allow it to be open to the public.

I just returned from a weekend yoga retreat at Green Gulch Farm Zen Center. It was my second…read moreretreat here and henceforth second time going here. I was on a digital sabbatical so no photos from my smartphone and no laptop. In retrospect from being there would say it was a lovely experience. It was great to unplug and get out of the city aka San Francisco for a weekend. The farm itself is about 30 acres. Green Gulch Farm Zen Center is affiliated with the San Francisco Zen Center in the City and Tassajara. All three is in the lineage of Suzuki Roshi from the Zen lineage from Japan. Suzuki Roshi wrote Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind and other works. I was primarily with my group here doing our own retreat yet did sit on one talk by a senior Zen teacher which I enjoyed. The talk was followed by an insightful question and answer Satsang aka philosophical discussion and tea. The hiking here is wonderful. They have been an organic farm since 1972 supplying the famous Greens Restaurant in San Francisco. The food here was quite alright. Many vegan options. One improvement would be to simply label the food items vegan or not instead they have symbols donating if the item has dairy or eggs yet majority of the food was vegan anyways. It was tasty and fresh as much of the ingredients are grown on site. The accommodation was comfortable. It was about a mile hike to the ocean to Muir Beach and explored the Tennessee Valley trail for a more challenging hike with amazing vista views of the ocean. I also saw two deer while here. If you get a chance to go to the Green Gulch Farm Zen Center. Go! Recommended!

We both found all of the new information interesting but we were so into it that we completely forgot to take any pictures of our experience! I loved getting to see the seals and seal lions and hear all of their noises, they are absolutely adorable! The museum room was very cool to see and touch everything up close, if you have kids I think that will be their favorite part. I love that the MMC is set up so that both adults and kids could enjoy, we enjoyed getting to learn how rescues and care happened for all of the mammals that come into care but I know kids would enjoy seeing the animals at the MMC and getting to see the museum room. I also think as a resident of California it's so important to start teaching kids young to respect our wildlife and for us as adults to know who to call in case wildlife is in danger. 4th of July was my kiddo's birthday so we were looking for things to do as well as celebrate…read moreIndependence Day. My husband found this place and we decided to make reservations for the tour. Once the tour got started we listened to how many different types of seals the center accommodated with rescues that were elephant seals, harbor seals, California sea lions and on occasion otters. We had a chance to see some of the patients from an elevated platform. The volunteers also made the animals' food, ran the gift shop and of course were our tour guides. Because the place thrives largely on donations, we bought plenty from the gift shop including stuffed seals, whales, magnets, snow globes, and stickers. Fun free place to bring the kiddos, not to mention the beautiful views you see in and out of the way.

The women's restroom at the entrance of the trail is disgusting. There was literal fuzzy mold on the wall under the sink, used toilet paper all over the floor...it didn't appear to have been cleaned in weeks, at least. The toilet paper is like wiping with a snowflake so you have to use a ton just to dry off the undercarriage.

We reserved it a month in advance for 1:30-5:30pm and were instructed to pay in full via Zelle to hold the reservation. The week of the event, I followed up with Reese to confirm everything was set. He replied that we were "all set." On the day of the party, all of the girls had arrived by 1:15pm and were excitedly waiting by the window for the limo. By 1:37pm, there was still no limo and no communication from Reese. My daughter kept asking, "Is the limo coming?" and was trying hard not to cry. At 2:02pm, after waiting over 30 minutes with zero updates, we decided to move to Plan B and drive the girls ourselves. Just as we were walking out the door, a limo finally pulled up. The driver explained there had been car trouble and that he had been called in last minute as a backup. Unfortunately, the limo itself was in very poor condition: no AC, some windows didn't work, no music system at all (we had to grab a portable speaker), and a broken seatbelt alarm that dinged nonstop the entire ride. Most disappointing of all, Reese never contacted us afterward -- no apology, no explanation, and no partial refund. Completely ghosted. This was an incredibly stressful experience on an important day for our daughter, and I truly hope no other family has to deal with this on their child's birthday (or any event).

Unfortunately, the experience was stressful from the start. After booking, communication was extremely poor. Email responses were slow, often taking days. We became concerned after reading Yelp reviews mentioning no-shows, lateness, and poor service, and sadly, those concerns proved valid. Even receiving something as basic as our payment receipt, especially since they don't accept credit cards, took over a week. Confirming our itinerary and driver details also required repeated follow-up and wasn't finalized until just days before the trip. We clearly communicated that punctuality was critical because we had prepaid tours and luncheon reservations at a winery. When we finally spoke with the owner, we were assured everything would be fine. It wasn't. Our scheduled pickup time was 10:00 AM. By 10:15, no one had arrived. Calls to both the owner and driver went unanswered. By 10:30, with no communication at all, our group was understandably very worried. Eventually, we tracked down an assistant who had previously sent our receipt. She answered, apologized, and promised to investigate. The driver later called and said he'd arrive in 10-15 minutes. That turned into another 30+ minutes, followed by additional delays. In total, the driver arrived about 90 minutes late. As a result, we missed our first winery stop entirely. What was most frustrating was not just the lateness, but the complete lack of proactive communication. No warning. No ETA updates. No accountability. We were simply left waiting and wondering if anyone was coming at all. If your plans depend on reliability, professionalism, and being on time, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. This company caused unnecessary stress and significantly disrupted what should have been a special day.
