I am a new boat owner and moor at Rocky Pointe. I feel like I got lucky because my boat is small and they let me moor here. They keep the grounds very nice. I feel my property is very secure here. I feel like the community at RP is just wonderful. Deck boards are being replaced all the time but some are a bit splinter prone. I had my boat serviced by the yard. 40hp 2 stroke. No complaints. I felt pricing was fair. They're busy. You're gonna have to wait. I may extend another 6 months even tho there are other marinas closer to places I spend time at. I use my boat 3 to 4 days a week for fishing and boat camping. read more

This is not a fun, friendly marina. It is a beautiful, well maintained marina. It is all about what you want in a marina. Living on the water can be treacherous. It's nice to know you have people looking out for you. Not at Rocky Pointe. I suggest wearing a life vest when coming back and forth to your home/boat. read more

Rocky Point Marina is a marina for floating homes and yachts/boats of all sizes. The marina has high standards and is ran very professionally and organized. It is a guard gated community and is private. We look forward to many years of family and friends, boating, fishing and outdoor fun in nature! In February of 2018 we brought our 44' sailboat to Rocky Point Boat Yard and it it hailed out for survey. We decided to moor at their marina. We had bottom paint along with some minor things. We were planning to haul out there in the future to some major repairs. One day in July my partner was parked in the parking lot and had the required pass on his mirror. He had tilted in slightly because the sun was reflecting in his mirror. Jen of Rocky Point gave him a tow notice if he was parked there again without a pass. Hmmmm well ok. Then I went into the office and Jen started telling me that I could only stay 7 nights a month. She had pages of us coming and going from their security system when we had only stayed on our boat over night ONE time. Not long after that I plugged my Nissan Leaf into one of the outlets in the parking lot. My Leaf when plugged into an outlet is like plugging in a vacuum. Jen claimed that because I plugged in my car the pump in the pump house burned up and it was an expensive repair. If that even remotely true, then they had problems with their wiring. A few days after that we got a notice to vacate. If you are considering Rocky Point then I would run not walk to another marina. read more

I rented a boat slip for 2 seasons at Rocky Point. Seasonal boat slips are no longer welcomed here (per owner). The docks and parking lots are in very good shape. It also appears to be very safe and secure. However, the owners need to relax! Way uptight....if they don't like you, they will kick you out. I was told they don't like sessional renters because they use their boats and the parking lot. This is kind place that wants your money but not be heard from...don't use your boat, parking lot and don't dare make a noise after the sun goes down. I also noticed you can no longer use their state funded dump station unless you have a home here. Now keep in mind the state of Oregon helped them pay to put it in (yes, public money helped pay for it). I called the state Marine board and found that after only a few years they no longer need to let the public use it, if they wish....does not seem right. Also be careful of the Monday-Friday bookkeeper - always seems to be in bad mood/uptight and wants you to know she is in charge - again relax you are a bookkeeper, not Queen of the river. I have also noticed a high volume of homes have been for sale in the last year. Not sure what that is about. Again they have very nice facilities, that is why I gave them 3 stars. read more

My wife and I recently had our 33' Hunter sailboat hauled out to do some repairs and bottom painted. While we don't have a great deal of experience in sailboat maintenance and repair, we both know and appreciate good service. From the start we were comfortable with the process. They were honest and forthright in the time and cost of repairs. We received sound advice on some repair and installation options. We will use this yard again in the future. read more

I have had my 40 footer berthed in the covered docks for 3 years and I have been treated well by the owners and the support staff including Jason and Marisol. The Marina is going thru a renovation stage and I am seeing good improvement in the facilities. The bathrooms are always kept clean and I have never seen rats, except on Don's boat because of all the garbage:) This Marina is not a live aboard marina and I personally have witnessed a peaceful and quiet existance. Once a year around July a blues band plays on a house boat desk and that's as rowdy as it gets. I do agree that the docks need attention and you better be wearing shoes or a loose nail or a big wood sliver could rip a small toe off The store and the gas docks are first rate with a good discount on gas if you are a tenant there. I pay $270 for a covered Berth.and they watch my boat and call me if they notice anything unusual..they even called me when my electrical bill spiked to tell me I had an issue with my boat...nice . Rocky Point is a good solid place to hang out for a river rat like me.. read more

I'm not much of a Yelp reviewer but feel I should defend Rocky Pount Boat Yard and Marina. I've had a very positive experience there since I brought my Ericson 32 sloop in for bottom paint and prop repair. Jason, Travis and the other yard workers were unfailingly helpful and professional. The final bill came in $80 under the estimate. My boat is now berthed at the marina and I am happy so far, $150/month for a 36ft slip seems pretty fair. read more

On time and Under budget! When do you ever hear that about a haul out? My husband and I had our 41 ft Grand Mariner Ketch hauled for bottom paint and through holes checked. Allison Mazon was doing a survey as well. We had the pleasure to work with three key gentlemen, Jason who is now back in South Africa, David, the new GM and Travis. Mark operated the crane and travel lift. What a great experience. They treated our boat like it was gold. I was in the yard every day videoing the work as you CAN NOT work on your boat in this yard. They did not rush us when Allison came to do the survey and deferred to her recommendations completely. They presented me with a detailed bid in advance and when Travis was inspecting the through holes, observed that the one we thought was frozen was in fact an old design that required a screw to be adjusted each time it was opened or closed. He showed me ho to do it and saved me $500.00 in the process! This is a large bronze fitting in the head which I planned to replace. Travis said " If you want to replace it to go with something more modern, great. but if you are replacing it because you believe it to be at the end of its life... you do not need to. It is in fine shape." We had another LARGE expense on the boat coming and the guys knew it. I had been clear, in writing ,that they could not exceed the estimate and Travis' honesty brought us in under budget. Two weeks later we returned to have them step our masts. Again, on time, and exactly on budget. David, the new GM knows his work and like Travis embraces best business practices. Do get everything in writing before the work begins. It simply eliminates misunderstandings. While the yard does not allow you to do any of your own work, they were very willing to have us come in the day before we stepped the masts to put all the rigging on. Ian Weedman was our rigger and on stepping day he and our team actually afixed the rigging. Rocky Point was fine with that. Side note : just before we were to bring the boat to Rocky Point , we blew an oil hose. Because Ian had come up from CA to step the masts, we could not reschedule without it costing a small fortune. Rocky Point sent a great little tug , operated by Mike to the rescue. We are about 1 mile up river from them and for $150.00 he towed us up and back. A bargain given his experience as a tug boat captain. In addition we were covered by Rocky Points insurance during the move. Many well meaning friends had offered us a tow but the right boat with the right crew to do the job was worth every dime. One more note : Our main mast is 48ft tall. Made in Denmark it has stunning bronze fittings but weights a great deal. Do to its height and weight Mark, the travel lift gentleman, requested special new cables be purchased and installed. I stood in the office when he made the request of Stan the owner, who simply said. " Do it right." The nest night we watched as they rerigged that Travel lift with cables. Extra cost to me...$0. Rocky Pointe Marina has upgraded quite a lot in the past 15 years. Their old wooden docks are over-priced compared to new concrete docks nearby. We noticed sewage smell drifting around pump stations at each set of docks. Beware of language "hooks" in contracts. They claim to not require payment ahead for the last month, however, contractual language requires 30 day's notice and a deposit equal to one month's rent. They say that they will refund a partial month if another tenant wants your slip before your rent expires. They require you to carry $500,000 in liability insurance with themselves added as also named insured. The other nearby marinas do not have these requirements. To sumarize, staff is polite and helpful. The parking lot is first rate. Some docks are older wooden ones which could be slippery. Their covered slips are always nearly full. Ramps are not very steep even at extremely low tides. read more

I did a lot of searching to find what I thought would be the perfect marina for me and my family to call home for our first boat. Rocky Point had everything I was looking for: a safe, secure location with a community that cared about the marina and the tenants. After several phone calls to the marina, I went to make a visit and was prepared to sign a lease. From appearances, it was just what we were looking for - well maintained and very clean. However, we were never allowed in the door. I introduced myself and my daughter to the manager, Stanley, and he quickly informed me that we were not welcome. He said they do not allow "kids" to visit the marina without the owner. My daughter is 5'10" and he did not know her age. I informed him that my son was 19 and my daughter 16 - both legal age to drive a boat. He refused to discuss the topic and informed me that he has the right to refuse service and the door is shut. I continued to ask him what he was looking for in a tenant - how did we not fit the profile? He said they were looking for families. Realizing I had made it clear that it was just me and my two kids, perhaps a single mom does not represent family for me. My daughter and I left feeling very angry at the blatant discrimination and rude treatment. It was a good lesson for both of us. We do not normally experience any type of discrimination so it makes us more empathetic with those that do. As for Stanley, I hope that he learns not to judge people by demographics and spends a little more time getting to know his potential tenants. His community could probably benefit from a little diversity. read more

I've lived on the river (the Multnomah Channel) for seven years now in a float house moorage nearby. I've used Rocky Pointe for hauling my boats, and ordinary maintenance. I've used the fuel dock quite often. The four star rating I give pretty much speaks for itself. I would give five, but I believe there is ALWAYS room for improvement. By the way, this place has shown a regular pattern of improvement over the years. I like it. read more

don't do it !!!!!! don't take your boat to rocky pointe marina or boatyard. i had thousands of dolars of work done there and i regret ever meeting stan and jen. as for the boatyard guy's they are nice but the workmanship was poor, they quoted a price of appox. 2400.00 for a door that was to be done by a real craftsmen 20 yrs exp. at wood working in a major boat building co. when i got the bill it was 1000.00 over and the door leaked they pulled it 3 times and still couldn't get it right. i also had a new yanmar engine installed by them o- boy!! problems from the get go, come to find out they are not yanmar certified, stan admitted that after the fact.i had a quote for the recore of my deck, the first quote was10,000, asked 6months later for a refined quote and it was 18,000 so needless to say i went elsewhere and got a beautiful job done for 9000 dollars . there attention to detail was very poor and all they cared about was the money. if you are considering rockey point reconsider there are some boatyards around in portland that do great work and will charge you alot less. i wish the stars above for rating had a negative sign. read more
