I was referred to this jeweler by a friend. I walked in one day with a few pieces I had at home to have repairs done. The saleswoman sees my engagement ring and rudely says "That diamond is not real. The those diamonds are not real. And the band isn't even gold." Wow! I don't recall how the ring came up to begin with. I didn't say much because I found her attitude to be very off putting and rude. She went and grabbed some black box that helped her see if it was real or fake. As she is looking it she says "well it's real. And the other diamonds are too". But of course, they were bad quality. This is my engagement ring that I have had for almost 30 years and been appraised 3x. I had brought in a bracelet that needed to be repaired, a monogram ring that I was inquiring about changing the monogram on it. And lastly, the whole it's not real debacle, I had brought my engagement ring in to have the prongs tightened. Next I was being told that I should have my ring completely reset with white gold because that's the trend. I had tried a silver basket for my diamond and didn't care for it in the past. Well that became an issue but they did fix it on the spot. Lastly I came back to pick up this bracelet I needed repaired. I had forgotten the tag they gave me and the man moaned and sighed because that meant having to look at each bag. I will not be back. Underwhelming. After seeing the ads for this jeweler on PBS I had raised expectations (due to the positive connotations of public television.) So, when I needed a new watch band I came here instead of venturing into Albany. It's located in a newer strip mall with an eclectic array of businesses. Easy parking is a plus. When I walked in, however, my expectations immediately lowered. Entering I noticed a random array of things for sale: scarves, honey (?) other things that you wouldn't expect in a jewelry store: and this isn't an informal or granola, or general store sort of vibe. Lots and lots and lots of light, glass and mirrored cases and an emphasis on bling. My immediate vibe was this is a sales place but not somewhere you'd want to use for watch or heirloom jewelry repair. Think the type of jewelry store you'd find in a low-end mall. I was seeking a leather band replacement for a classic man's watch. The salesman was very nice, but indicated my watch was non-standard size, and required a special order. I've had the watch for 40 years and anywhere I've sought a replacement (leather bands wear out every few years) in upstate New York or on the west coast, the band replacement was considered pedestrian and the jeweler had lots of replacements on hand from which to choose (I have two watches with leather bands -- this has never been an issue before.) Next I was looking at a catalog, and the price was 3x what I last paid for a band (in Nor Cal, btw.) Whatever; my thought was okay, the price of convenience and you are supporting a local business. A few days later I got a call that the band had arrived; I went in the next morning after an appointment downtown and pulled up at 9:55 expecting to wait but the open sign was up and the lights on. I entered and a young salesperson, eating breakfast sandwich, looked up with irritation when I entered and was less than thrilled to need to get up to serve me. I advised her I had called, and she took the watch and sullenly walked off to put the band on. When done she mumbled "do you want the old band?" and then rang me up and gave me a cursory thank you. If you care, not smart to be ungracious when you are working for a small local business and dealing with a polite customer who is obviously a local older professional likely to have disposable income. Perhaps she was having a bad morning or just suffering protein deficiency not having been allowed to finish her breakfast sandwich (btw, in a business you shouldn't be chowing down in the sight of customers -- take it to back room.) I was hoping for a classic, tasteful, old fashioned jewelry store with dependable repairs, like the type you used to find across all upstate New York; I'll head into Albany when I need that type of service I guess. I went in to have some rings sized. Weigh your rings before you bring them there, they will come back lighter than they left you. Below is a ring that was sized from a 7 DOWN to 3.5 and this is how thin the band came back. The band was just fine when I brought it in, in retrospect, with this jeweler I should have taken pictures. I recommend you do. read more

My grandma has been coming here forever. I used to come in with her as a kid. My husband and I went in yesterday and were looking for 2 cross necklaces. The lady we were helped by was named Jessica. She was beyond helpful and sweet. She really helped us out and took her time to assist us when we didn't have a clue about chain styles. In my experience, Joyelles Jewelers does not stand behind its merchandise, and the employees are unpleasant to loyal customers. I've been in the store several times for repairs, and I've received several pieces of Joyelles' jewelry as gifts. The jewelry, which is not "costume" jewelry, has broken quickly and the staff is unwilling to make repairs. Today, I brought in a pair of earrings purchased there 14 months ago because one broke and requires a solder repair. The woman said that she would charge me full price for the repair because they are over a year old, nothwithstanding the fact that sterling silver earrings should not have broken in that time. I told her that as a neighborhood business, the right thing to do would be to stand behind the merchandise and keep a customer, but she refused. She was nasty and unpleasant. On another occasion, I brought in a watch for a battery replacement. After two weeks, it stopped working. They told me the watch had to be shipped to New Jersey and would take six weeks to be repaired. I took it to another local jeweler, who told me that Joyelles installed the battery incorrectly. No repair needed. I always like to frequent local businesses when I can, but I also won't be treated rudely or purchase products or use services that are low-quality. read more

This is a nice store for relatively cheap jewelry and trinkets. But they know nothing of watches. Today I took a watch in for a new battery, and the lady helping me was unable to find the right sized one, tried to secure it with scotch tape, and was unable to assemble the watch back. Unfortunately, this is the second time they fail with a watch, last year they had to have a watchmaker repair another watch I took in for a battery change and they messed up the watch face. This time I took the pieces, put them in a zip lock bag, and will take them to a real watchmaker. read more

I am very surprised at the people who did not love their Joyelle's experience. Having purchased there for years I've always found the people there to be friendly and knowledgeable. I've had repairs done and they've even purchased some pieces from us. My wife stops by and takes a look at the great selection and puts things on a wish list. It makes my shopping much easier! Love, love, LOVE this store! Joyelle's is a one-of-a kind, locally owned jewelry store. They value their customers and, in my experience, have gone above and beyond to help me. I recommend them whenever someone compliments me on a piece I am wearing that came from Joyelle's. That is why they have been voted one of the top 3 jewelers in the Capital region for the last two years (TU survey). Considering they are competing against bigger, multi-store, mall-based jewelry stores, this is high praise indeed! I have been a customer for about 10 years. Mostly battery replacements until 2 years ago when I needed an appraiser for vintage jewelry left by my mother-in-law. Went to Joyelle's to ask if they could recommend someone and was pleased when they told me they had a graduate gemologist who appraises fine jewelry. I was thrilled that I wouldn't have to drive to Saratoga to find a quality appraiser. I had a LOT of jewelry. LeeAnn spent hours (no exaggeration) going through the inventory piece by piece. She explained what each piece was, whether it was costume or fine, and it if was fine, whether it was worth paying for an appraisal. She knows what insurance companies are looking for and identified the pieces that needed appraisal. I also had some southwestern jewelry that was probably valuable but LeeAnn told me that she was not qualified to appraise it and gave me the name of someone else who specialized in that sort of item. I appreciated her honesty. She could have appraised all the fine jewelry at considerable cost to me but recommended only the things that would need an insurance rider. The final document was very professional, so much so that, when I gave the report to my insurance agent he asked if he could get some of LeeAnn's cards to give to his customers who needed appraisals. I felt bad that I took so much of LeeAnn's time going through a lot of costume jewelry but she never made me feel like I was wasting her time and assured me that this was a part of her job that she really enjoyed. I have read the negative reviews of this business on Yelp and have to say I have never experienced or seen "nasty and unpleasant" or "rude" sales people. On the contrary, the sales staff are very friendly. It is truly a neighborhood business, I feel like I know them (especially LeeAnn) and they treat me (and the customers I've seen when I've been there) like friends. With respect to them installing batteries in watches incorrectly, I have never, in 10 years had a problem. In fact, when I brought them a watch that wasn't working for a battery replacement, they told me that the battery was fine. They sent it out for evaluation (no charge to me) and it turned out it needed cleaning. To the reviewer who gave them a bad review because the battery was installed incorrectly I have to ask: If it was installed incorrectly, why did the watch work for two weeks before it stopped? To the reviewer who stated "this is a nice store for relatively cheap jewelry and trinkets": have you seen their opals? These are real opals, not the factory manufactured ones other jewelry stores sell as real. Not a trinket. Finally, they are artists who will take your vintage pieces and recreate beautiful new pieces. They took a vinatage brooch and turned it into an awesome pendant for me. read more

Today is the LAST time I will ever go to this store. I honestly don't know why I continue to give them another chance. Every time I have a watch battery replaced, there are always problems. One of my watch repairs had to be "sent to the watch clinic" for several weeks. When it finally came back, it was determined Joyelle's had put in the wrong battery to start with. On today's recent visit, the person struggled with the battery yet again. When I watched to make sure the watch was advancing time, I noticed she put the back of the watch on upside down! In the end, she ended up putting the old battery back in and then *tried* to refund the charge for the battery. There were no fewer than 6 employees in the store and it took 3 of them to figure out how to do a refund. I will be taking my watches to a real jeweler from now on. read more

My wife and I have been coming to this jewelry store for over 15 years. The ladies always welcome us with smiles and make us feel so special when they remember things from our previous conversations. Not once have we ever had an issue with a repair or ordering something special for a gift.
