What an awful place! I couldnt believe how rude the management was when I had an issue with my cabin. The food is also horrendous. There are lots of nice lake resorts nearby, I suggest you look elsewhere. read more

My family and I have gone to RDC for many years. For many years it was a truly wonderful getaway. I have hesitated to write this review, but unfortunately since the previous general manager left, it is not the same at all. The charm is gone, the staff don't seem as happy, the prices continue to skyrocket despite quality retreating. The only food option is buffet, and there are no safety protocols or cleanliness at all. Many times I have witnessed people grabbing food with their bare hands in front of management with nothing done about it. This is not good at all considering the pandemic we are currently facing. There have been multiple cases of norovirus that management has covered up, putting further guests at risk. The cabins have amazing views, but you'd be better off camping near a lake. It's essentially the same experience with the filth, rodents and dead bugs all over the place. The beds are extremely old and uncomfortable. They are all twins so good luck getting cozy with anyone. There are a lot better options. read more

This place is the best part of my year. I've come here every year since I was born and my family has been coming for decades. A beautiful, peaceful, truly special place to get away. A deep appreciation for nature. Heaven on earth. Can't recommend this enough. read more

I recently went here for a group retreat. I'd looked online for info before I went and wasn't sure what to expect. What I found was pretty amazing. The facilities were clean, the staff was helpful, and the property is pretty spectacular. In the morning, I sat on the bench outside the dining hall until people started gathering and it got too loud for me. Then I wandered over and sat on the dock to stare at the lake. I went for walks with friends, sat on the porch of the house I was staying in, and had a pretty fabulously relaxing time. As a vegan, I wasn't sure how much I'd be able to eat here so I brought a ton of food. When I tried to find out what I could eat at dining hall, a chef came out and offered to make me food!! Because they seemed so busy, after that I just made do with the available options which were enough. I told my family all about this place and we look forward to visiting together in the future. read more

I went here with a family that has been coming here for years. I was impressed by the scenery but the actual experience left much to be desired. Several nights out of our week-long stay we had to drive 20+ minutes into town just to get adequate calories in the day, despite management claiming a "full service dining" experience. They rarely offered food that we could eat (non-dairy) despite telling us they could accommodate our diet when we called months in advance. The waste management was even worse - EVERYTHING was wrapped in plastic, despite RDC calling itself an environmentally-friendly establishment. The facility also offers very little in the way of upkeep, so despite charging customers the same amount as years prior, there were no cleaning services and the rec activities suffered. read more

I have been going here with my family since I was 2. Amazing accommodations, friendly staff, and one of the most relaxing places on earth. For those looking to take a family vacation, there is no better place than RDC! read more

RDC is much more than a rustic resort, we are a family camp steeped in over 100 years of tradition bringing families and friends together in the natural beauty of the lakes region of New Hampshire. We have exquisite scenery made up of vintage cottages nestled along the shores of Squam Lake, one of New England's most pristine lakes, and the southern edge of New Hampshire's White Mountains.
History
Established in 1897.
The Rockywold Deephaven Camps are unique in that they have resisted change in the basic philosophies of their founders. To be sure, we are not the same as we were in 1897, when Miss Alice Mable Bacon founded Deephaven, nor as in 1901 when Mrs. Mary Alice Armstrong founded Rockywold. Both of these pioneering women adapted and changed as time went on but held strongly to their basic principles. It is an interesting turn of fate that brought these two strong women together to found and develop this haven of simple life. In their generation there were many women of determined will and purpose, who made their mark, but few who affected the lives of so many generations as have these two. Many family owned resorts built at the turn of the century have disappeared because the next generation had other interests. RDC is fortunate in this respect and also in that it has adapted and adjusted to the changing times.
Meet the Manager: John J.
Kathy W. and I find it hard to believe that we have been managing Rockywold-Deephaven Camps for more than 25 years (26 summer seasons). It certainly doesn't feel like it. We think our longevity must have something to do with the friends we have made and the environment we are surrounded by. After a quarter of a century, Kathy and I continue to feel fortunate for having the opportunity to be a part of the RDC family. We are extremely proud of what has been accomplished and grateful to all that have helped us keep Rockywold-Deephaven Camps special and strong. Thank you to those helpers both past and present!

RDC is one of the most amazing places I have been able to spend time. I miss being away and can't wait to get back. RDC was a major part of my youth and I hope I can share it with my children some day. read more
