We were here for a couple nights for a wedding. Booking the "right" room online is complicated if you don't know the layout. If you are in a wheelchair or have issues maneuvering stairs, call the resort to discuss options. There are no elevators or ramps at the Inn. The Inn is not a building to choose if you require a wheelchair or limited stair use. That also means that the restaurant and bar are not an option, either, as they are both inside of the Inn. The resort is on both sides of Route 153. There are multiple buildings. The check-in office is in the Mill. The staff are incredibly nice and accommodating. Upon entering the Inn, there's a strong, odd smell, but it was not in the room. The room surprised me. We booked a room that had a king bed and 2 twin beds. The twin beds are separated from the King bed allowing us to shut the door. The bathroom was in the room with the twin beds. There was also a sink, microwave, coffee and small refrigerator. Very comfortable beds. The room appeared to be relatively recently updated compared to the rest of the Inn. We were comfortable and it was a nice stay. They did a great job with the wedding reception, which was across the street from the Inn and beside the lake. We were truly impressed with the staff, the property, their great work with detail for the wedding and our comfortable stay. read more

For the price I paid, I was quite disappointed. Hoping for a nice room? Too bad. Everything looks straight out of 1972 in the worst way possible. Our TV was tiny, and only had cable. The walls to the other suites were paper thin; we could hear everything that went on not only next door, but ABOVE US. This included the screaming and running of children at six in the morning. Our suite is completely inaccessible from the rest of the resort without driving (Unless you want to walk a half mile down an extremely busy road) and our windows face right out into a parking lot... goodbye to privacy. I understand that the restaurant had some sort of incident, so they had to move its location. With that in mind, I can confidently say I have had one of the worst meals of my life here. Everything was clearly frozen or came from a box. I also saw the waitress put her fingers on the inside of our glasses as she placed them on the tray... gross. Everyone else I talked to seemed to agree. Breakfast service is equally as abysmal; a 'buffet' comprised of flavorless eggs, frozen sausage and despite being on the website, no real maple syrup. On to amenities, one of the first things I checked out was the pool. Not only did the pool and (especially) the hot tub look grimy and unclean, but I found used earplugs just... scattered on the ground. A few days later and they were still there. The gym on the other hand, was pretty nice. Everything you need to get a good workout, and even cleaning supplies to disinfect the machines after use. The lake is beautiful, and so is the nature that surrounds it. The resort provides free canoes, kayaks and paddleboards that you can use whenever, which is great. The issues are twofold, however. Firstly, is the bugs. Giant horseflies, clouds of mosquitos and gnats, all constantly harassing you (especially the horseflies, which have an extremely painful bite.) Secondly, is the lake itself. While stunning to see, the area you have access to isn't massive. It's enough for a daytime outing or two, but after that, you've seen everything there is to see. Considering this is the central appeal of the resort, this too is disappointing. Regardless, the beach (As buggy as it is) is quite nice, and the water is probably the nicest temperature I've seen in a lake. I'd like to stress that there are redeemable things about this resort, and I think under the right management it could really flourish. This place isn't cheap, however. For the amount of money it costs to go to the resort, the lack of quality control is unacceptable. Everyone in my party decided after the FIRST NIGHT that we will not be staying again. read more

At the Fryeburg Fair half hour away, after camping out for three nights in the cold -- I sucked up paying the jacked up fair time resort price of $200 a night. I paid for 2 nights, and had my check in materials left in a mailbox -- office closes at 10 pm and I couldn't get there til 10:15. So checked into VERY BASIC room... NO HOT WATER. NO ONE TO CALL... NO ONE IN OFFICE AT 7 AM... STILL NO HOT WATER. talked to desk at 9 am... Told they were working on it... Never heard back... Called at 4 pm... Was told it "should be fixed..." Due to the pandemic the restaraunt is closed but the Pub was open and they had great food. They even had meal kits that you can order ahead of time and grill yourself on the property. read more

It's a really quaint, pretty, serene getaway. We stayed 2 days, 1 night over Labor Day weekend. It was definitely the end of their season, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. There are trails on their premises to hike. Not hard, but difficult enough for city boy and this city girl to feel like we're scaling! We did a 1.5 mile hike, with nice rest stops and vista points along the way. Lakeside lodging were recently renovated, so our room was nice and clean. Everything we wanted to do was right there- bball, tennis, badmitton courts, pool, hot tub, lake, canoe, trails... For dinner, you can drive about 20 minutes north to Conway and find a few decent places to eat. Or drive south and find the dairy stop on the side of the road (Rte 16) that has awesome hot dogs, fries, onion rings, and ice cream. less one star- no sauna. read more

At almost $400 a night, we should've looked at nearby hotels that had updated accommodations, rooms that matched the pictures online, and much better customer care/service. Our room looked nothing like the photos, was a musty, old two bedroom that they recently painted as part of the new management team that is trying to teach them how to do business. They sure need it! You can't put lipstick on a pig, they say! We have two complaints: 1. We understand COVID protocols but you must empty the trash and replace the towels when you have a guest! We called at least 4 or 5 times to have these services done to no avail. The final call, we were told by Diane who kept pushing us off, that we needed to put the towels and trash in the hall, which we did. No service, no towels, full trash can!!! I finally asked to have a manager or an owner (these people take great pride in the fact that they are family owned!) to call me to try to get it done, to no avail! 2. Prior to the start of our trip, we added an additional night, to make three. After the first two nights, we received two nasty emails telling us that we had to vacate our room or our belongings would be removed from our room!!! Apparently, they did not pay any attention to the fact that we had booked that extra night, and treated us like squatters!! read more

Came here with just one other person, even though it presents itself-- accurately -- as a family resort. We were welcomed warmly by staff who helped us make changes to our schedule without fuss. Rooms were clean spacious and pleasant with air conditioning . . . even though we were planning on "roughing it" a little, I think we were secretly happy with air conditioning, no mosquitoes in the rooms,a and good showers. The lakes are beautiful. There are canoes and kayaks that you can take out already on the shores to paddle around the calm waters. Mornings were great for bird watching and listening to the sounds of nature. We came at the height of summer, but were pleasantly surprised at how not-crowded it all seemed. Fun activities during the course of the day and evening: we joined their s'mores evening fire, which was fun. The weakest part of the stay was the food -- average, I think. The main restaurant seems to be centered around a buffet, so it's clearly meant for larger groups than just a couple. The best part was the ease of enjoying the lovely lakes. No need to check out boats, fill out paperwork, pay extra fees, or to do anything but walk over and enjoy yourself. It was a great getaway with modern comforts. read more

We hosted our wedding at Purity Spring Resort, and found a hidden jewel of the White Mountains. The staff were attentive to our every request (Laurie Campbell especially was a whirlwind of coordination and planning) and the scenery was amazing. The deluxe suite we stayed in (in the Mountainside Condos) was wonderfully maintained, with a hot tub, a king sized bed, and a kitchen. In previewing the site for our guests, we also stayed in the Lakeside Cottage once, which was also well appointed, and aptly named. We toured mid-price housing in King Pine and the economy housing in the lodges, to get a feel for what we were getting our guests into. It all looked quite nice and well maintained, and we heard only praise from our guests. The wide range of housing options available made it easy to accommodate guests with different needs -- families, groups of friends who wanted to stay together, guests on a budget, people with pets, etc. Our guests enjoyed many of the resort facilities. The Mill housed a very nice pool and hot tub. We were lucky to have perfect weather, so lots of people spent time in the lake or relaxing on the shore. The resort has a floating "iceberg" climbing wall that challenged all but the most athletic of our guests. Many people took out canoes and kayaks. The children enjoyed all the playground equipment and toys. The food was fantastic. Breakfast from the Traditions restaurant was included with everyone's room. On the busy days, they put out a buffet breakfast, while on other days they made breakfast to order. We worked with their chef to produce a delicious wedding banquet buffet. Chef Trevor was also very helpful in making sure that all of our guests with special dietary needs had plenty to eat. Purity Spring provided a reasonably-priced sandwich buffet for one of our lunches and a delicious barbecue on the island in the middle of the lake for the other. As the event organizers, one thing we particularly liked was that King Pine lodge has several different spaces we could use for different activities at the same time. Purity Spring also had no problem with us deciding to simply place a large order from a local pizza place for Friday night dinner (rather than trying to gouge us for every last nickel, like some other wedding venues we talked to). The only issues we had were a) the buildings are pretty far apart, so some of our guests had to either walk a fair way or get in a car to get where they wanted to be, b) there is almost no cell signal at the resort (which is either a positive or a negative, depending on your viewpoint) and c) while all of the buildings had wireless Internet, it was sometimes a little flaky (particularly in King Pine Lodge). Every person we interacted with at Purity Spring, from the event coordinator to the waitstaff to the housekeeping staff, was friendly and helpful. Every time we asked them for something (and we had a lot of unusual requests), they found some way to accommodate it. When we showed up Friday morning totally stressed out, we knew after 5 minutes of talking with Laurie that everything would be fine -- and it was! We had exactly the wedding weekend we wanted, and we have Purity Spring Resort and its staff to thank for that. We and all of our guests had a fantastic weekend together with fun activities, tasty food, and beautiful scenery. We had so much fun that our guests keep suggesting we do it again next year -- and we just might! read more

I would 100% recommend Purity Spring Resort for families - in fact I spent the entire three days on the property during a getaway just with my husband wishing I'd have brought the kids along as there were so many things that they would have enjoyed. Nevertheless, there's something to be said about sitting lakeside alone with my husband just taking in the beauty and relaxing! Thursday, while everyone was off on the canoe trip, was a beautiful time for us as a couple to hang back, kayak and we swam and actually played on the iceberg and teeter-totter in the water - a place that would normally attract a lot of kids. We hadn't laughed together like that in quite a long time! The family traditions at the resort are evident, and those that have had the pleasure of returning here year after year are eager to share their experiences with newcomers like my husband and I were. There's no shortage of activities for everyone from hiking and fishing to boating, dining, lounging, swimming, kayaking, to organized activities like tie dying and crafts, the game room, the indoor pool and fitness center - I could go on and on. You will never be bored at Purity Spring and if you are, take a deep breath, look around and just take in the beauty that surrounds you! The accommodations are great, are room was really clean and the housekeeping staff was super friendly as was all those that we ran into on the staff during our visit. Don't miss the Lobster cookout on Thursday nights - what an absolute treat! Just arrived. Very disappointed. Thought it would be a resort that was centrally located to all activities and areas. Instead it is a string of motels along a very busy road (almost highway) and you have to drive to the pool etc. We walked with kids and it seemed dangerous. We spent a week here a while back and thoroughly enjoyed it. First, it's just a beautiful place, and very family friendly. The lake was nice and cool, the boating and fishing was fun, the indoor pool was well maintained, and the activities including softball and archery with other guests was a lot of fun. The staff was very friendly throughout the week. The room in a ski lodge at the base of the mountain was clean, and it was neat to stay in a ski hotel during the summer. The only thing holding me back from five stars was the food in the restaurant, which was a big miss most of the nights. A decent kitchen would make this resort, as food is such an important part of the vacation. While I'm on the subject of food, I would be remiss not to mention that the lobster cook out was a lot of fun. I recommend Purity Springs. read more

The family decided to make a last minute long-weekend getaway to NH. Wanted to keep the drive under 2hrs or as close as possible. (A side note: Rt 16 when you get close to Ossipee isn't marked well and we were stopped by a state trooper for doing 50 in a 40mph zone. I actually thought the speed limit was 60. Ooops but there seemed to be a lot of police on Rt 16) The folks who work at Purity Spring are fantastic. The accommodations are great too - the kids were in the pool every day. We sat close by in the hot tub. The restaurant Traditions was great and the kids ate everything on their plate. There is plenty to do close by. We went right up the street to King Pines. Skied one day and tubed both days. The kids could do it on their own. It wasn't very steep like other places we've been and they enjoyed the ride up as much as the tube down! read more

My family stayed in the ski patrol cottage for the weekend. We were there to attend our dear friends' wedding. We had such a lovely time! The cottage was comfortable and clean. The full kitchen wasn't necessary (due to all the fantastic food), but it was nice to have as a backup option. I was especially grateful for the new pet policy, which allowed us to bring our dogs along. I made sure to keep them crated/leashed so that the policy will continue! I especially enjoyed swimming with the dogs at Milt's Place Beach. The breakfast buffet was delicious and plentiful -- lots of good choices, everything hot and fresh. The catered dinner at the wedding was exceptional too. Definitely a notch up from "feed 200 people" experiences I have had in the past. The staff really made our group feel welcome -- we took over every part of the resort, playing board games and Rock Band, plus there was square dancing and so on. We also took advantage of the heated indoor pool and hot tub, beautiful swimming beach (with the imposing Iceberg climbing inflatable!), kayaking, and hiking too. Many of our friends expressed how beautiful, welcoming, and relaxing it all was. Many of us hope to return! I'm just back from a winter weekend with a LARGE group of friends ranging in age from about 6 to 75 at Purity Spring Resort. The staff there was amazingly accommodating, the pool was large, the gym was more than adequate, the snow tubing was fun, the food for our group was less than adequate, and the highlight was a Saturday afternoon winter snowshoe tour led by Heather. We - most of us novices and a tiny bit nervous - loved every moment of the beauty and of her wisdom, humor, knowledge and passion. Would highly recommend this place for couples, friends, and families! I went with my fiance and another couple for an overnight Thursday/Friday trip, and we had such a blast at this hidden gem! Everything was above and beyond our expectations, especially considering how affordable everything was. The food at both the Traditions restaurant and the Pub next door was delicious. And the breakfast options were all under $5, well worth it for good food and a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. The rooms at the main inn were quaint, nothing fancy, but they were clean and spacious. Both of ours had a queen bed and bunk beds. We already plan to come back when we have kids to take advantage of this family-friendly resort. The skiing at King Pine was also great for us beginner & intermediate skiers. The conditions were good, never even saw a patch of ice on green and blue runs, and there were absolutely no lift lines on Friday from 12-4. The bar and food at the base there was affordable as well. Half the price of any other ski resort I've been to. Free tickets for snowtubing were included with our Thursday night stay, and we found it much more fun than we ever expected! Great for any age! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They even allowed us to keep our luggage in our room many hours past checkout so that we didn't have to leave valuables in our car. We went to Purity Spring for a winter getaway and even though we actually don't ski, we still LOVED it there! It's beautiful, quiet, and relaxing. The staff are all so friendly and welcoming and really took care of us. We ice skated, went swimming, enjoyed the hot tub, and loved the beautiful room we had with a view of the lake. We can't wait to go back with our kids for a summer vacation! There's lots to do and it seems like summer might be an even better time. I definitely recommend it for a getaway any time of year, though - for the price, the service, and the peace and quiet, it can't be beat! read more

We used to come here in the Summer when our kids were small. We stayed 2 nights hoping for foliage and warm weather, but little color and cool nights. We did take a canoe out for a short ride and had dinner in the dining room. Dinner was fine, not gourmet, but well prepared and plenty. Breakfasts were included. We ordered off the menu one day and it was served buffet the next. Greek scrambled eggs were delicious. Coffee could have been better. This is a special place in the white mountain area. read more

We made a spontaneous decision during Christmas vacation week to ski King Pine and stay at Purity Spring Resort, as it has been touted as a quaint, family friendly resort. We have been to King Pine many times, love the little mountain, the lodge, the short lift lines, but never had the chance to stay overnight. Big disappointment for my family. The room at the base lodge was clean, comfortable and roomy, but overpriced for the amenities we would be able to utilize in a one night stay. Everything closes up, even during vacation week, so very early. Try getting a bite to eat after 8:00 PM, IMPOSSIBLE! The pool and fitness area closes at 9:00. The shuttle to transfer guests from the lodge to the main part of the resort STOPS RUNNING AT 5:00! After skiing we found out that the place pretty much wants everyone in bed early, so we had to venture out for food. We were not expecting the BIG mountain atmosphere, but we were expecting to enjoy some sort of activity after skiing, but the place shuts down very early. Would be good for an older couple, I suppose. If you book for the family to ski and stay, keep your expectations low for activities beyond skiing, and bring snacks and drinks! read more
