This one was very heavy on the side of home decor when I was in there, with little room given to anything else. Of course, I went to go check out the Burn Your Tongue booth, which I've been meaning to canvas for a while and it runs the gamut from more well-know names to a lot of smaller sauce companies, so very good selection, as usual, covering pretty much all of the well-known pepper varietals out there. This is nowhere near the selection of the grand daddy location, which is the QB Ogden spot, but you would be hard pressed to find a better selection anywhere short of actual Salt Lake City proper itself. Very nice to have this kind of gamut finally hit Utah County and chile-curious should haul themselves over to it. The space is easy to find, it's due west of the registers...can't miss it.

But for the collectable and kitsch crowd, the question is "which one will have all the stuff I'm looking for, and why do I need to go to Hot Topic?" Well, first, if you're into Pop! Funko figures (which everybody seems to be into these days) you'll want to check it out. They have a little more than Game Stop or Cabin Fever, and little less than BoxLunch. Definitely a sturdy collection you'll have a fun time looking at ... and a difficult time leaving without at least one! The main thing that sets Hot Topic apart is it has a very strong focus on things for girls and women. I'd say that it's 60/40 female focus. They also are hitting the Star Wars hard ... they have a "Her Universe" section that has some cool stuff with a female slant. As well, Hot Topic leads the way in t-shirts. If you want a cartoon character or superhero or rock band or icon or anime character or wizard on a t-shirt, you'll most likely find it on their wall of tees. And if you're into Stranger Things, I haven't seen as much stuff anywhere else. Hot Topic is a fun store that you'll have a hard time leaving without a full bag!

We had so much fun walking around and letting our kids pick out their own crystals. One of the workers answered all of my toddler's "what's that?" Questions and walked around the store with them showing them all of the cool things in the store. The best part was how excited the worker was about everything and showing that it really was something he seemed passionate about, which made it even more interesting. If you get a text receipt, it has pictures of the type of items you purchased which was really cool if you have a bad memory and buy a bunch of stones. Others that come in get greeted right after me. I get no help unless I ask for it. The workers automatically go up to the other customers and ask them if they need assistant. With several locations in California and Hawaii, and international locations as exotic as Bali (2), Japan (7), Australia (3), Argentina (6), France (14), it's a wonder to find a second location to go with Park City here in little ol' Utah. Especially since Utahns only do a lot of their three areas of focus (snowboarding), a little of another (skateboarding), and, because of Utah's land-locked geographical location, none of the third (surfing). Still, here we are! Although it is like many retailers focused on the surfing, skater, and snowboard communities (like Zumiez, Vans, etc.), Volcom's focus seems more on the clothes than the accessories. So, if you, your spouse, and your kids all vibe with Volcom's style, you'll all be able to find things to wear, especially in the summer: A lot of swimsuits and board shorts, tees, caps, sandals, rash guards, hoodies, jeans, and flannel. My only beef is with the sizes ... not much for the big, not much for the tall. While not a lot many jaw-dropping outlet mall prices, their current "Essentials Kit" of 2 tees, 1 pant, 1 hoodie, and 1 hat is an excellent and well-priced way to get indoctrinated into the Volcom way.

So when I had a friend mention Mago, I knew it was time to pop in. Situated in the massive shopping complex at Traverse Mountain (the one with Harmons) it's just a little pocket of outdoor vibe. The space is clean and flanked with racks on one side, and shelves on the other, with a few fixtures sprinkled in. I was here on an errand for someone, actually, so I came looking specifically for a long sleeve Patagonia shirt. They had plenty! They do feature a lot of Patagonia, Hippytree, Cotopaxi, and Naturebacks among others, including a few things with their own house brand. It's primarily clothing, and I didn't really look too much into the gear stuff. They had some nice sweatshirts, tees, and long tees. With those brands, you can imagine that they're not giving the stuff away. Long tees were anywhere from $25 to $50. That's about par for the course on the stuff, so not unreasonable so far as comparison shopping goes. I dig the vibe, I dig what they're into. It's a small store so you can pretty much peruse everything and see what they're about in one trip, but with changing inventory you have plenty of reason to come back again.

I met up with them, but noticed a store in the strip that caught my attention. They had Patagonia, Cotopaxi, and some other brands I recognized, so I ditched the girls and went over to check it out. This store is awesome! It has a nice vibe and a great assortment of comfortable and useful clothing, gear, bags, etc for outdoor types. Definitely has the mountain vibe that compliments the nearby mountain ranges! One of the owners, Amber, was super friendly and helpful and I really loved the selection of clothing and accessories in the store. If you are looking for a local boutique to feel the outdoor Utah spirit, MAGO is the place to visit!
