He was very knowledgeable and could find the source of the problem within 10 minutes. He also confirmed it was limited to one room. I needed help moving the furniture around, and the technician took care of it. The treatment provided by Optimum got rid of the bed bugs. I had a problem with spiderwebs everywhere and other outdoor bugs. I signed up for the outdoor treatment twice a year. The first one was done late fall, and so far, I don't see any bugs or spiderwebs.

It took several days for them to even come out, then had to special order a vent cover for one. It took several more weeks to come back and install it. In the meantime, the birds had punched through the ducting and made a mess of the attic. I had to pay to have that repaired because of the delay in the service. Fast forward to this year, the birds pushed through the cover installed on one vent and are back again. Called for follow up service weeks ago, and can't get out here because they're too busy with trapping. Not happy that they don't stand behind the work provided. I now paying someone else to fix their shoddy work.

The project vastly exceeded the initial 4-hour estimate, ending up at over 8 hours of labor without any mid-job notification that the scope or time was doubling. Additionally, I was charged two separate $150 site visit fees ($300 total) for a single job that was split into multiple visits for their scheduling convenience. Despite a verbal agreement to provide the main parts 'at cost,' since I already had them ready to order, the final invoice included significant markups on basic cleaning and truck supplies like towels and buckets. When I reached out to discuss these discrepancies in good faith, suggesting compromise, the response was defensive and included immediate threats of late fees on a first-time invoice that was actively being contested. PitStop reduced the invoice by $50 as "good faith". After I itemized out a compromise between what I was led to expect and what was invoiced, I was ghosted. After waiting a few weeks and following up with no response, I chose to pay the invoice in full simply to close the matter, but I strongly advise other property owners to get a binding written contract and a capped labor quote upfront before any work begins.

He asked a bunch of questions then made some suggestions as to what we might try first. We did and called him back. Based on what we told him at that point, he made some final suggestions and asked that I call him back and let him know how that worked out. We did what he said and the pump worked great. I called him back to say thank you and ask how much I owed him and he chuckled and said you don't owe me anything, but that if plumping needs arise in the future to think of him. I absolutely will look to Mertec for any future needs as well as recommend them to anyone in need. Our fix was simple for people that have some basic mechanical knowledge.
