Was hoping that we would find a little gem, but it was not for me. The location was a short distance from the town center. It was clean and the service was friendly and good. We received chips and salsa upon entry. It wasn't my favorite. The salsa had a ketchup taste. We ordered the Rodeo cheeseburger, which sounded good on the menu, but that opinion changed upon food delivery. I may have ordered the wrong item. Good solid basic Mexican fare. They have all the normal plates. Nachos, enchiladas, breakfast tacos, etc. The service is good. Not gourmet but good staple restaurant. The furniture was very new. Stopped in for a quick breakfast taco, fair warning they are small in size so be sure to order two. I ordered a breakfast sausage, bean and egg. Beans tasted like they were from a can. Service was a tiny bit slow, be sure to plan ahead if in a hurry. read more

Stopped in Gonzales at around noon on the way to SA to see the come and take it cannon. The museum is closed for lunch from 12-1:00 so we decided to go get our own. Found a little Mexican restaurant that turned out to be pretty good. The salsa tasted fresh and had a nice kick to it. My son and wife ordered the 2 taco plate, both had a chicken and a fish taco and loved it, especially the fish taco. My son said next time he'd get 2 fish. I had the carnitas plate special. It was tender and a little crispy. The plate came with plenty of refried beans and rice, and pico and guac on a half an avocado. It was a lot of food for sure. It is kind of a hole-in-the-wallish place but plenty of seating and customers. No table cloths! Our lunch bill for 3 came to $30 (waters only). Good price, very good food, service met expectations. We'll stop there again when we're in the area. read more

Decided on a drive through town to stop and try breakfast tacos in Gonzales, TX. Never again! I'll say, the food wasn't terrible, but it sure wasn't great either. The bacon was super chewy and not very flavorful in general. The food itself, maybe I'd give it 3 stars, but...... I asked the waitress if the corn and flour tortillas were made in house and she proudly said, "yes, they're both made here, corn and flour!" And I was like "okay! Heck yeah! Let me get corn tortillas then! Then they brought them out and my reaction was like "lady, why did you lie to me? I can spot a packaged corn tortilla from a mile away" and the flour tortillas were packaged too. The sweet teas was way too sweet, it wasn't even southern style, It was Diabetes style. On a recent hunting trip in nearby Waellder, TX we decided to skip the hunting lodge crowd and head home stopping for a sit down breakfast out of the elements. looked on yelp for a review and found Rodeo, what a find indeed, $2.75 for three breakfast tacos, warm thick flour tortillas stuffed with fluffy scrambled eggs and chorizo, Yumm, My son had a chicken burrito for 3.99 that came with rice and beans and was superb... great find... giving you the honest scoop and good eats and tasty treats.. read more

An impulsive stop into The Rodeo Mexican Restaurant was a huge surprise. I was reluctant to order after being "greeted" by a surly order taker, but got the best authentic El Pastor tacos I have ever eaten! I shall return after reviewing their extensive menu. The food isn't the best. Usually something doesn't seemed cooked right. Also, the building is a little dirty.

We stopped in at about 8:45 pm, shortly before closing on a Monday thinking they were open until 10 pm. (closes most days at 9 pm except Fri-Sat until 10 pm, and think they close earlier on Thursday - I edited correct times into Google) Our waitress was very nice and so were the other staff. Our order was taken quickly and they returned to check on us often. The food was GREAT!!! Once we realized we had arrived late, we tried to hurry up and get out but they were more than happy to take care of us without complaint. We will be stopping in here every time we pass through Gonzales for great Tex-Mex and even better service! read more

Salsa taste like tomato soup with pico poured into it. I ordered the lunch special. It was some type of fried pork chop meal. I had the worst diarrhea of my life. I will never return. I eat Mexican food at least 3 times a week its my staple. I don't exactly have a weak stomach but this place ran through me like a saw blade. read more

We had a girls trip to Port Aransas and on our way back to Austin wanted to find something other than fast food to eat for lunch. It's hard to do when you're driving through lots of small towns you're not familiar with. Thanks to the Yelp reviews we found this hole-in-the wall restaurant right off the main road. As other reviewers stated, the outside appearance is a little sketchy but the food was fantastic. The salsa they bring you is spicy so be careful! The queso is so yummy- white cheese. There were 5 of us and we all ordered different plates and everyone was pleasantly surprised how fresh and good it was. The tortillas are authentic and fresh tasting. We checked in on Facebook so that we can make this a traditional stop. read more

I am still giving this restaurant a 5-star rating for it's breakfast menu. Service is good. The restaurant is still clean and my mother in law is still happy to eat here. In line with the other reviewer who gave it 3-stars because it is greasy...let me just say...yes it is if you eat here other than breakfast. The menu items are still good for lunch and dinner but there are other places in town that are better for lunch/dinner service. However, if you know Gonzales, you know the sidewalk rolls up after lunch for most restaurants, so dinner service choices are lacking at best. read more

Rodeo is not a bad place, but it's not my favorite in town. It's quaint. It's clean. We had the Speedy Gonzales. Very greasy. So, while it was not my favorite, I know that many of you will LOVE that. I did not have any of their breakfast items, but everyone I know raves about them. I will certainly go back, I just won't become a regular. Good food. This is the best Mexican food restaurant in Gonzales. The atmosphere is not great but it's popular with the locals.

I love, love LOVE this place!! I work in Gonzales and find myself eating there or getting take-out at least twice a week. My favorite dish is the Texas Plate but I have tried several dishes and they have all been wonderful! Fresh, hot food fast here! Very basic Tex Mex food. My wife had the shrimp cocktail, which she deemed excellent. (I agree.) I had the pork chops, which were decent. The accompanying salad was terrible, but the beans were very good. The enciladas and other foods my children ordered were standard Tex Mex. Nothing special here - the usual icerberg lettuce from a bag in your small town Tex Mex joint. I wouldn't go out of my way to stop here again, but if we are driving through Gonzales and hungry, we might stop for the shrimp cocktail. read more

The food was very tasty and the salsa is great (a little spicy just like I like it). The service was excellent, very friendly and helpful. The prices were very reasonable. We stopped by for lunch, since we were staying at Palmetto State Park up the road. Truly fabulous food and service. If our waitress couldn't get by, then another got whatever we needed, never waited for a thing (and believe me, we drank lots of coffee and used plenty picante sauce)!!
