NO TOILET!!! This place is repulsive. I'd rather sleep in my car. I literally did not have a working toilet. From the moment I checked in, the toilet never worked. They wouldn't fix it. They had the audacity to blame me for urinating in the toilet and "using too much toilet paper" (see photo). They wouldn't fix it. I made FIVE requests asking them to leave a plunger. It didn't work. They refused to move me to another room. They refused to issue a refund to me. Barbara at the front desk did a weak request to her manager on the phone, and refused to call him back. She said she personally had been without working plumbing for a week and had to pee in a cup...as if this made being without a working toilet in my room no big deal. My TV doesn't work. My heater and air conditioner don't work. It's totally insane. I understand things happen and things break but their whole attitude is beyond ridiculous. I called Choice Hotels "customer service" and they couldn't care less. I will never never never stay at a Choice Hotel again. PS, they are also LIARS. They claimed they couldn't move me to another room because they were totally booked. They show they have availability online. -So this motel is right next to a railway and it is squeaking every time a train goes by. -The AC turns itself off before the room is cold and there seems to be nothing you can do about it. I am honestly bewildered that anyone has given this business anything higher than one star. As soon as we arrived we were made to feel like we were being a bother to the woman at the front desk. She was very obviously annoyed by our mere presence at her hotel. As we had already paid for three nights we went ahead and took our keys to stay. The room was grimy and run down. It smelled awful and desperately needed new linens and carpet. But the real issue was that the windows in the room had NO LOCK and we were on the ground floor. Anyone could have slid it open and hopped right inside. After calling the woman at the desk and letting her know that we were uncomfortable in an unsecured room, she gave us another room on the 2nd floor. However, when we got to the 2nd floor room, not only did that window also have no lock what so ever, but it also had NO WORKING HEAT!!!! It was already almost midnight by the time we got into the 2nd room and I was so tired that I just gave in and stayed in a room that was cold and open to anyone who wanted to come in. At one point I needed to grab some things from my vehicle and while doing so I lost my key card. I went to the front doors, which are locked and you have to be buzzed inside in order to speak to someone at the desk, and the woman came into the lobby and she yelled through the glass doors to "stop bothering me" (this is an exact quote, I kid you not)... I was stuck outside, no way to get into my room, in the rain, without my cell phone, as it was inside the room!! I ended up borrowing a cell phone from some random guy outside (not safe at all!) to call 911 because I had no idea what to do and as I was on the phone with the dispatcher the front desk woman came outside and threw a key card at me and said "there now you leave me alone." It's insane that she treated me that way, given that I had done absolutely nothing to her. I didn't give her an attitude - even when she gave one to me- i was polite when explaining the windows and heat situation even. I guess she found it annoying that I didn't want to sleep in a room that had no locks and then a room that had no locks and heat. What crazy expectations I have, wanting to be safe and warm where I'm paying to stay!! Needless to say, the next morning I decided to check out and stay somewhere else for the remainder of the time. I was told by this next front desk person that they would refund me and how sorry they were about everything.. but it's been several days and there is no refund on the card still... Which means now I'm gonna have to spend my time following up on this, again, making phone calls and just investing energy that I shouldn't have to. Also, the hotel is in a pretty run down part of that side of town. The inside is dingy and just gross. There's an awful smell, probably from people having smoked in the rooms for who knows how many years. The walls were dirty and scratched. The door that is supposed to separate the main hallway, where everyone's rooms are, and the outside, is completely unsecured. The key fob doesn't work and the door can just be opened by anyone. And I'm not being judgmental here, but I do think it should be said, that the guests that I saw were definitely of the druggy variety. It actually saddens me because it's clear that this hotel thinks that people who are having problems with addiction are just not worth keeping safe, that it's fine they sleep with no locks and no heat... It is so messed up because they know that these people are not going to advocate for themselves or call in any authorities, leave bad reviews or even complain. This is a terrible hotel. I needed a place to have a business meeting and due to Covid where restaurants are closed I chose this hotel. When I booked this hotel I told the receptionist I only needed it for a few hours. She demanded a 50 dollar security deposit in cash. When I entered the room the windows was open so I tried to close it and realized the window was broken. I then tried to turn on the heater because the room was so cold from the open window. Hands down, this is the worst place I have ever stayed. No I am not a stuck up snob. When first entering the lobby I noticed the first of many " O heck nos". 1. The lobby was gross- not clean and not kept up. 2. Our room- My husband opened the desk drawer to look for a Bible and he found a crack pipe with some crack in it. That totally explained why the room's window was open, to get rid of the smell. 3. Outside - When we had to go to the car to get our bags there was a container of Vaseline just hanging out. We wouldn't have been suspicious of it but there is a strip club next door. When we came back at night there was a crack head (yes we know what they look like) hanging out in front. We didn't leave anything in the car because we knew not even the parking lot was safe. 4. Late night desk attended-I had called the front desk for two towels and the lady who answered the phone was rude. I asked if she could send me up two towels and she asked "what, you don't have any?!" However, the chip reader at the register died, so we had to go, pull out a bunch of cash out of a sketchy ATM, and then come back and pay for our three night stay in cash. We were upgraded to a king bed, so they get an extra star for the attempt. I'm not sure if there's actually a cleaning staff. The first day, we came in and found everything the same, except for the fact that they took the towels and didn't replace them. So, I had to go to the desk and get towels the next morning. Not the biggest deal, but still. The sheet were godawful. They offered no warmth and had the same consistency as one ply toilet paper. The bed itself was ok. Would I stay here again? Depends. Is the entire world on fire from nuclear war and this is the ONLY place on the entire planet not on fire? Yeah, I might stay there again under those conditions. But I'd really have to be convinced that no other part of the planet wasn't on fire. I'll give you the play-by-play of our experience so that you, the reader, can share in our trip. We arrived to find that the hotel shared a parking lot with the strip club. So at least we had that going for us. If nothing else, we could see if the wife could make a few extra bucks walking on stage at the club. So we checked in and walked to the entrance only to find a toilet sitting outside on the ground next to the entrance. And of course the toilet is covered with blood or some other biohazard, and of course somebody had used the toilet. We're off to a great start: strip clubs and toilets. We walk into the hotel to find the halls reeking of weed and cigarette smoke, which is kind of odd considering the 'no smoking' policy at the hotel. We march up to our room to find somebody had burned a smiley face into the door, which was a nice touch and really put our minds at ease knowing that if it got too cold at night, somebody at the hotel was experienced with starting fires. We enter the room to find a brand new 50" flat screen TV. So I'm awarding them 1 star for that. (The keen reader will realize that I awarded them a total of 1 star for our entire visit.) Then there was the condition of the room. The deadbolt on the door had been ripped off at some point in the past and was reattached via a chunk of wood straight from the discard scrap pile at Home Depot. No sense in making the lock look good, right? Better to make the lock stand out by looking like it was glued together by a 4 year old. That way, it calls your attention to the lock and the friendly advice on your room key sleeve that says "don't store valuables in your room" and to "make sure to use the deadbolt while in your room." At some point my wife removed her shoes and walked from the bed to the bathroom only to discover that her feet were now sticky from walking on the carpet. All that being said, we did have a decent sleep once we fell asleep and they did have free wifi, which came in handy when googling statistics about how many people are murdered annually while staying in seedy hotels. read more

This place shows the most deceiving photos I've ever seen, it is a complete fraud. I've never felt so scammed in my life. The hotel shares a parking lot with a strip club, let's start there. The parking lot is a disaster, unpaved, potholes, trash everywhere- there was literally a busted refrigerator on the ground. Still in the parking lot, there were people... MANY PEOPLE... barefoot, in pajamas, around a grill "fire pit", there were 2 old campers, everyone looked like they were living in that parking lot and were all staring at us as we arrived as if we were on their property. Inside, it was worse! The carpets were super stained and torn, there were boxes and trash and what seemed like just random maybe cleaning supplies lining the hallways, the bin to collect the laundry was completely stained and the women who were employed there had the most unfriendly and unapproachable faces and attitudes. The room doors were ALL open, and the doors were super cheap thin wood. The room itself was what we expected by the time we got to it. Everything was old and dirty, it smelled BAD like sweat and cigarettes. We decided to buy our own blankets, towels and sanitizing supplies, luckily we didn't unload ANYTHING from our car because we decided to just not go back to the hotel once we heard ourselves making a plan to barricade ourselves in the room by using our luggage to block the door. This place was not sanitary and not safe. We called to try to get out of it and the woman at the front desk had such a bad attitude and acted as if she had no idea that the hotel was in such bad shape. Needless to say, they wouldn't refund us so we paid for 2 nights and spent maybe 5 minutes there and paid hundreds for it. We've stayed at Rodeway before (not that one) and we've never had these kinds of issues. This hotel shouldn't be open at all. Choice Hotels really dropped the ball at this location. I've been to many dinky hotels to save money and have also stayed at many luxury hotels (Disney world resort or Wilshire in LA, you name it), and with the way the reviews on here made this place to seem so horrible, I was expecting the worst. I went here 'cause it was a cheap place for staying in Portland, and found it through booking.com. I didn't see the reviews until after booking the place and I couldn't cancel, so I just went along with what I got myself into and was really just expecting cigarette smelling linens, sketchy people all around, and a loud strip club. What did I get? Just a normal hotel room. Nothing was sketchy about this place at all. When I asked for extra pillows or a blanket, I got it. Room service was very nice, and while it wasn't a luxurious place to stay, it was good for the cost. No weird odors, no bed bugs, nothing at all. Everything seemed clean enough, and the TV had a lot of channels. Internet was working very well. We had a tiny fridge which kept our stuff cool, and a nice microwave to warm our cold food up, lol. It was nice and quiet, was never bothered by anything or anybody, and we slept really good. 10/10 for the convenience of driving into the city and pricing, and I definitely would stay here again. read more

The room was a basic motel 6 room and was clean with only basic amenities including a microwave with a broken timer. My biggest complaint about this place is that I wish I would of stayed at a motel 6. I spent more money going here because they advertise a breakfast. We get down to 'breakfast' and it's a total joke. Their idea of breakfast was a small coffee and juice machine with white bread, a toaster and crappy prepackaged gas station sweet rolls. How this place continues to stay open is beyond me. My mistake was not checking Yelp before we booked. Booking.com gave us a quote and this place charged us $20 extra. When we contacted booking.com they said the hotel should NOT have done that so we are still fighting this extra charge. The room was a joke. Dirty, broken, old.... You name it. The complimentary shampoo that most places give you was half used and they left it in there. There was MOLD on the corners on the walls in the shower! MOLD! The crazy thing is this place is busy! Please pass the word and check Yelp! Don't make the mistake I did! The only reason I give this place one star is because there is no option to give it zero stars. And the only reason we stayed in the room is because we were so busy on our trip we literally only used it to shower and sleep. If I could do it all over again I would of not settled and left. Let me start off by saying some of the worst service I have ever had at any hotel or motel and I have stayed at plenty of them. The front desk lady was rude and mean. She was not pleasant to speak to at all, she had no manners, and when I called to get additional pillows for my room. She stated rudely that there are four pillows in the room and that she wouldn't bring them to me which I never asked her to do. This hotel was very clean. We had a functional kitchinette and a nice flatscreen TV with cable. Food options abounded with the strip mall across the street. Felt safe with all the cop cars at the strip club next door. Ice machine was great to get ice. Parking lot was adequate. Don't have to pay extra for that. Ample shampoos and soaps were provided. Quiet for the most part. We stayed 2 nights. The staff was friendly. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast provided was adequate. Starbucks was nice less than a mile away. Walmart was 10 minutes away. Enjoyed our stay. Bathroom was big. Shower nice. Thick towels and wash cloths were available. Toothpaste and razors were available for purchase affordably. Would not recommend. After a long drive, I was very much looking forward to getting into my pre-booked and paid for room. We arrived 2 hours after their scheduled check in time. When we were checking in at the front desk, we were told their system was down and he couldn't give us a room until it was back up. After 15 minutes, he was able to get the system working, and gave us a key card! Woo! We go to the room, and it's a complete disaster. Blankets, pillows, and trash everywhere. Cleaning crew hadn't been there in the 2 hours after we were supposed to be able to access our room. Going back to the front desk to complain produced a response of "Yeah, they haven't been to that one yet." So this guy gave us a room he KNEW wasn't ready... Why!? We ask for a room that's ready, something we shouldn't have to request. At least this new one had actually been "cleaned". Mini fridge was in poor shape, lock on the bathroom was broken and pubes and hair left on the walls, beds were firm (though some may like it, it was rough on my back) and the frame made a lot of noise, none of the four lights above the beds turned on, the view out the window was some trees with plywood stacked against it and a parking lot, and the only available power outlets were in a lamp on the desk. The "free breakfast" consisted of coffee, orange juice, bread, and Costco prepackaged pastries. Didn't even have bagels or fruit. While we were out for the day on day 2 of our stay, the cleaning crew came through. They made only one of the two beds, and took the used towels but did not replace them. While there was no one single incident that would make me move to a different place after having paid for this one, all told it was the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. I will never be returning to this location, and will probably never return to any Rodeway Inn. read more

I really thought nothing could possibly be as bad as Motel Six, which is what I was trying to avoid when I found the Rodeway Inn. Boy, was I wrong. This Rodeway Inn is situated in a sketchy neighborhood right off the highway, and right next to a strip joint called "Sunset Strip." The halls smell of stale booze, cigarettes and vomit. The fixtures in the bedroom and bathroom are literally falling off their hinges and there is no light above the bathroom sink. What they advertised as a continental breakfast consists of cheap coffee in a styrofoam cup, white bread and packaged sweet rolls. If you can afford to avoid third world accommodations, pamper yourself and check into a Motel Six. read more

Its only redeeming feature (and reason for the one star) is that it is walking distance from Sunset Transit Station, which makes getting into town easy. However, I will avoid this place in the future. Everything is broken and/or dirty. There were mysterious stains on the walls, the shower curtain wouldn't close because the rod was falling out of the wall, cigarette burns in the blanket...the list goes on. When we went to the front desk the General Manager told us there were no rooms available even though we had made reservations several weeks in advance. The Aftermath! Place It is in Portland Oregon by the Zoo Android:Gravity It is approximately 18.6 miles from Portland International Airport. It is much closer to the city of Beaverton Oregon than it is to downtown Portland Oregon. A train provides excellent service for commute either to Portland or to Beaverton and would be the best way to and from the Airport if traveling on a weekday. Traffic on Portland Oregon highways is a defeated purpose. The community has outgrown the highway system and the highways are parking lots during the day so it is very very very very very easy to miss your flight if you choose to drive out here and fly out the next day in the morning unless it is the weekend (early in the morning on the weekend) You might make it to the airport quicker on the train if the train does not break down. Customer Service Hmm...well they make checking process quick and normal especially if you have a reservation. If you meet the Indian dude you will have to accept that it is cultural for them to look like they are angry all the time? I don't know. There is a transient in the hallways who helps you find your room for a tip. Rooms This place while it serves the purpose of what it does which is a bed and shower away from home is in dire need of renovation. It is falling apart. The rooms are smaller for what they call a queen room or a King. It is clean and acceptable but the place is a dying mess of old school building codes and a fire hazard waiting to happen. Walls have paint peeling off in the rooms. Broken furniture and fire hazards galore. Each room has an armoire that holds storage space, a tube television and an old old old 1930s cube refrigerator. Such old equipment like the refrigerators especially are a fire hazard. I would not put such in my motel if it were me running the place. They work but their age dictates time for retirement. In the bathrooms some electrical outlets do not work and toilet paper holders are coming off the walls and seem to have been like that since the 1900s. How many of you have looked at the ceiling in your bathrooms at this motel especially if you are on the ground floor? Yes...PEE STAINS!!! wreak havoc and are visible on the ceiling from the bathrooms above!!! It's disgusting! Because of the size of the rooms, the toilet seats right next to the bathtub. it is very easy to trip thine self over it. TV and channels are ok just enough to kill boredom if you have no computer. Free internet comes with every room. Breakfast Not good. It seems more like an afterthought than anything significant. Yes you get coffee in tiny paper cups, a pastry bought from a local store and bread. It is all in the front lobby squeezed in the corner. Breakfast starts at 6 I guess and depending on what time you show up, the coffee pot will be empty and juice machines giving nothing but watery orange juice and apple juice. There are not many eateries near this motel. In fact right next to the motel is a strip club. A strip mall sits across the street with a mini mart, a pizza place, a Teriyaki place that is always closed and a DMV. Thats it. To access anything decent food wise, you will need to use the train to go either to Beaverton or Portland. The commute is short and easy to Beaverton. You can go to downtown Portland for even more shopping and such all by train and is extremely convenient. Conclusion If you are really going to run this place with such ignorance to the aging and falling apart happening before your eyes and it shows!!! then you should charge no more than $25.00 for a night! it is expensive for what you are charging in it's current condition. YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS! If only they fixed up the place and took care of the motel, this would be an ideal place for the highway traveler. For it's location the management needs to do what America's Best Inn and Suites is doing. Renovate the place, fix and or replace the broken furniture, plumbing, old fasteners, door knobs, take them old refrigerators out of the rooms (these are fire hazards waiting to happen) put new ones in, and provide a more decent continental breakfast especially for a place in the middle of two adjacent cities with no eateries anywhere near the complex. Make the place smoke free. Fix up the painting in the rooms and old accessories need replaced, wiring needs inspected, old electrical outlets should be sealed or taken out and replaced rather than be ignored. GET THEM 1930s REFRIGERATORS OUT OF THEM ROOMS!!!! They do not belong there and it is abhoring to leave these operating. Carpeting in the hallways and rooms needs replaced. In all, if you are looking for a bed and shower away from home with the most basic of amenities this motel will do. Make sure you have life insurance with you though. Sleep with one eye open and you will be fine. It is a cheap place but boy do they abuse that cheapness to the fullest. read more

A ROTTEN OLD SHIT HOLE. Strip joint in the parking lot. We arrived, opened the door to our room for the first time, and the whole room was a disaster. Both beds had recently been slept in. Sheets, blankets, and pillows were all messed up. A plate with a half eaten piece of pizza sat on the table between the beds. Used stirofoam beverage cups all over on table and desk. Looked like some of the strip club folks just had a big party in there. We didnt step one foot into the room and just turned around and left. We had used our "Choice Hotels" reward points to book this terrible room, then had to find a decent hotel a few miles away and stayed there. Dont know how this Rodeway Inn can be a member of the "Choice Hotels" group. You'd think they'd have some standards. I agree with some of the others who've left reviews before me: The good reviews have to be fake. This place should be condemned then burned to the ground. read more

I feel bad for this place given all the reviews. It might be that they've been reading Yelp and other review sites and addressing the issues. The room was fine. It was nothing special but the shower drain, toilet seat, and walls didn't have mold (at least not much), the shampoo bottles were full and looked previously unopened, the bed was made, it didn't smell any worse than my own bedroom, no holes were burned into the sheets, no needle-shooting drug addicts appeared to break in (very considerate and quiet if they did - thanks!), and no aliens were born through my stomach. I was afraid to walk without shoes given the reviews but it didn't seem it would've been too bad. We brought our own towels out of fear from reading the reviews but theirs weren't any worse than other hotels. The sheets were a bit thin but I came prepared after reading reviews and wore thermals that I usually take skiing on storm days. It was good that way. No cobwebs, no arthropods crawling in and out of my ears while I was conscious, no itching after coming in contact with the sheets (may have been protected by my thermals). They're even concerned about safety as proven by the handwritten, taped-to-the-door message asking to make sure the exit stays locked so people not staying there don't sneak in. The continental breakfast was about an arm's length in size, though, so that was a bummer. This might be a place in the process of improving similar to another one I've been to. I've been to a different hotel where the first room we were given had the wrong bed, cigarette holes burned into furniture, and mold throughout the bathroom. When we complained, the same hotel gave us a different room that was very nice (think brand new marble showers). Maybe this place is trying to change. One thing that annoyed the hell out of me was the no cancellation policy, though. Seems like they want to trap people who reserve first then read reviews. Oh well, no harm done in the end. read more
