I have been going to Salt Lake Smiles for several years and have always been impressed with the friendliness of the staff and the quality of their work. My dentist Dr. Darrell Osterhoudt knows me by name and always takes the time to get to know me better and find out what's new in my life. He's also good about asking how my family is doing since my sister, brothers and Dad are also Salt Lake Smiles clients. Dr. Osterhoudt is an all-around great dentist--he's up-to-date on the latest dental processes and procedures, works quickly, and stands by his work. The dental hygienists and the other staff at Salt Lake Smiles are also excellent. The hygients do a great job with my regularly scheduled check-ups and cleanings. They work quickly and leave my teeth feeling clean and looking pretty. I don't have the best teeth (unfortunately) so I've had everything from fillinhs to root canals and crowns from Salt Lake Smiles. All the work they've done looks great and feels good in my mouth too. When I've had problems they've always been excellent about fitting me into their schedule within a day or two so we could get things fixed right away. Thankfully on my last check-up I was decay free and didn't need any additional work. I'm getting better at flossing regularly and taking better care of my teeth. I got the filling scheduled and got it done just to be surprised with his own inflated fees rather than my insurance fees which he refused to accept. The reason? It was a filling that wasn't due for replacement yet. Amy, the awful billing lady yelled and argued with me over the phone that it's not their job to check if the tooth had been worked on in the past by another office. These people are lazy as sh*t and will NOT check any sort of tooth history just to trap you into paying their blown up fees. Watchout, this is a strategy of theirs! All other offices I've been to will not hesitate to call your insurance to gather pertinent information about the tooth that needs work. The filling, by the way, was no good. As you can see from the other reviewers, Dan Mirci absolutely sucks at performing fillings. Save yourself the headache and avoid this office and the awful billing lady! The rest of the ladies there were nice but Amy the biller is a total b*tch. We finally stopped going when I started having tooth pain from one of their fillings, and they brought a little model in to show me how a filling can end up being too deep in the tooth so the tooth splits, and how I needed a crown. Afterwards when I was left in the booth to think about the options they had given me, I realized that I could overhear the doctor giving the person in the next booth the same exact explanation, and I remembered that this is the reason my husband was given for needing crowns. I've never had this type of damage happen from any other fillings I've had from other dentists, so it's astounding that it happens so often with this practice. My next dentist just shaved the filling down to match my bite better, and it's been fine. He was also able to reapply my husband's crowns in a way that kept them in place for a couple of years, now. I was reminded of our experience here by a recent conversation, and judging by reviews the miss-handling is ongoing so I thought I'd add my piece to save the teeth of others. To be fair, all of the staff and doctors are very nice when you're there, but that doesn't change a lifetime of damaged teeth.

I really wanted to get this work done before my scheduled visit to see my children and grandchildren in Utah in July.
