The most impressive part was that all of the follow up appointments (6 in all) were included in the initial charge. Crowns look great, but what's underneath doesn't…read more After their initial root canal and crown (done wrong), I ended up with a year-long infection that eventually required an apicoectomy and then a full root canal redo by an endodontist -- who was shocked they had let it go so long (more than a year) and hadn't caught, on imaging, that the entire root canal seal had failed and was leaking. Right after the crowns were placed more than a year ago, I called them in urgent pain -- but they didn't answer for a full week because of "phone issues." In desperation, I went to a 24/7 dentist who misdiagnosed me. When they finally answered the next day, I went back because they knew my case and I didn't want to risk losing my new crowns. They loaded me with antibiotics, did the apicoectomy, and gave me a free bottle of "fairy dust" mouthwash, assuring me that time would help. It didn't. They could have caught this much earlier with proper imaging like an MRI and a timely referral to an endodontist. Instead, it was delay after delay, unnecessary procedures, and more pain than I should have endured. I will not be returning. I paid a lot of money for a nice crown with a hole in it.

Every single time I went in, the dentist was more invested in flirting with his dental assistant than he was actually paying attention to my teeth and fixing it. I told my mom the first time but she didn't buy it... until the crown fell out 3 times. He fixed it for free but the final time, he just put a ton of adhesive on and called it good. Didn't color match the tooth or bother grinding it down to be flush with my actual Tooth. The result... a crown that looked 3D and was noticeably more yellow. The part that hadn't been grinded down was a magnet for gunk in my teeth to cling to and drew lots of attention for a couple years until I went to a good dentist and they fixed it for free within a few minutes during a regular checkup. He felt bad that I had even experienced such a bad dentist that he said he wouldn't charge me to fix it. My crown is now looking good but I would not recommend SMILE WIDE dental as a place to add/fix crowns. I did NOT feel comfortable 'smiling wide' for years due to the ugly crown. I was just to naive to know it was an issue and not a dental standard that couldn't be fixed. I recommend the dentist stop bantering with his interns and actually be Involved in the dental process and worry about getting into the patients world, rather than getting into his interns pants. They could tell I was anxious and gave me the gas and made sure I was numb, even renumbing me to make sure I was comfortable. They are very kind to me and my family. The office staff is very kind and welcoming. The dental hygienists are through and helpful. We have also been coming here with our children for 7 years and they have handled all of our dental needs. No cavities yet, thankfully, but he has done the extractions for our 8 year old son, helping his teeth to come in straight and uncrowded. We recommend Dr. Thornell to everyone we can.

The hygienists are always rushed. ALWAYS. I had several different hygienists too. I have been going there twice a year for several years. I always questioned myself WHY. It was usually not a good experience, but I figured...it's twice a year. I just put up with it. However, my opinion has now changed. I definitely won't be going back. The staff is unprofessional. Especially, the office manager. I expressed my concern about their 3% fee to use our health equity debit card for an upcoming procedure. If you don't pay via check or CASH, they charge a 3% fee. No other medical offices do this, in my experience. I use my health equity card for all of our medical expenses. When I told them I won't be coming back. The office manager was extremely rude. I just received a bill from my last appointment. I declined the option for a fluoride treatment. They charged me for it anyway. I declined it due to their added fees. I nave never paid out of pocket prior for the standard exam and x rays. They must be hurting for money. Real classy Genesis Dental! I will be fighting your bogus charge.
