Since moving back to Mckinney in 2013 I have been to sooooooo many places for my 6 year old son, trying to get him a decent haircut. Why, why, why is it so hard to get an even haircut with proper fade? Why does there always have to be gaps and lines from the clippers? Why must they always leave his hair on top so choppy and uneven so that you can see the sections where they cut? Why must they skip one sideburns? One side always higher than the next? Ughhh. Everyone from Floyds to the speedy in & out ones, to Walmart, even Roosters on ElDorado back when they were there. Super glad I gave Rod's a shot 3 weeks ago. Will be going back tomorrow. The other decent cut was all the way in Plano at Collin creek, but we live up in McKinney. Rod's at Greenville/Main is much closer and easier to get to. My son was comfy the whole time. He's only 6. Sitting in the chair before he was even finished, he asked if he can come back here "every day that I need to get a new haircut". Super happy we tried them. The cut looked great and he didn't ignore the edges or neck like most people do. Glad glad glad we found them. read more

I have been going to Rod's Barber Shop for about 10 years. The camaraderie with ALL the barbers is amazing. When you walk into this shop, you immediately feel like you are a friend and not a customer. I have been here when I was waited on right away and I have been there when I had to wait an hour because there were so many people in front of me waiting for a haircut. Have been going to Rod's every month for nearly 15 years. The place is frequently busy That is not because they are slow. It is because they have a solid customer base. After a while you figure out when you should be there or when to plan for a long wait (nope, not sharing that info, don't want you there when I know it will be a quick in-and-out for me --- however, you can sign ask they will give you a rough wait estimate and you can go to a couple of the mall shops to pass the time). Any MAN will tell you it takes two to three visits for a barber to get the cut preferences down pat. They WILL shampoo for a fee if you ask. They will even sell you "product" and doll you up IF YOU ASK. Takes them 15-20 minutes to cut my hair, but I have noticed as the work decreases (read as "there is less to cut") it takes them less time in the chair. The time difference between them cutting my grandson's hair and mine is not significant so why is a child's cut expected to be less? However, in another 5 or so years I will get the Senior discount. Yay ... or maybe not. Good place. Good haircut. But to each his own in the world of personal services. read more

Like going to an old fashioned barber shop where the cut's are only $14. Have been there 4 times now since I moved and get a consistent haircut everytime. I like Ken...he is a no fuss sorta guy and gets me in and out fast. Saturdays are busy so make sure you get there early if you want to have the rest of your morning free. read more

KUDO's to the barbers at Rod's Barber Shop, especially Kenny. Most of the barbers in this shop have cut my hair over the 9+ years I've been coming here. I left briefly for a friend using a 'chain' set of shops. Didn't take long to recognize my error - been coming here ever since. I was in today and had a super short wait and got a great cut from Ken. I not only like the great cut I get and the good humored banter with the barbers, I appreciate their attention to our veterans & current soldiers. I was having trouble finding a good barber shop since moving to this part of the city a few years ago, so I decided to try Rod's. It was nice to find an old-fashioned men's barber shop and the barbers all seemed quite friendly and courteous. On the positive side, I never waited very long and the cost was OK. On the negative side, they only took cash and the cut itself was only average in all but one case when it was somewhat less than average. read more

This is a regular man's barber shop and all kinds of current topics are discussed....in other words nothing is off limits. Rod's supports the United States and the military, which are very important to me. I have recommended several friends to Rod's and they have all been very pleased.
