Yay for Tim Roemer Painting. We just had the exterior of our house painted. After two weeks our house sparkles and shines again. Walls, all trim, doors, windows, gutters, all look crisp and perfect. Tim was prompt with his proposal. His bid was reasonable. His company is licensed, with current insurances and workers comp. Lorren, his right hand and estimator, was great to work with, knowledgeable, always reachable, and it looks like he will also replace two of our Marvin windows. He was prompt with getting paint matched and providing everything his crew needed. He checked in twice daily to monitor quality and progress. We had a two-man crew - the best painters I have ever worked with. They were thorough in their prep, incredible in their detail and ready with solutions. They arrived every day promptly at 8am. They cleaned and stored everything as they worked and at the end of the day. Brushes and equipment are cleaned off site. Their brushes carefully wrapped and taken with them. Leonel, the foreman with 25 plus years experience, and Juan, went the extra mile(s), their cheerful, respectful presence was a huge gift to us. We looked forward to their arrival every day. Five stars and five reasons why my husband and I appreciated Tim, Felipe and the artists who work under their management. I call them artists because they understood the delicacy of painting and to some extent restoring an old victorian home. We own a 3-story victorian, a duplex...3 colors and complex details. 1. They were timely with bid (which was a lot of $, but totally competitive with the other painters who were willing to give us bids. Many weren't willing to give bids...the job was so massive). They were timely with start and finish time each day and worked fast, so the scaffolding could come down within the month we had paid for. 2. They were respectful of the property and cleaned up each day. We have tenants who live in our duplex with little kids, they never felt the grounds around our house were overly messy or unsafe. The guys washed all the exterior windows after the paint job. 3. Their scraping and prepping was thorough. They also did a bit of carpentry, replacing siding where some of ours had buckled under the sun/rain. 4. The paint job itself is high quality and Tim is guaranteeing the job for 10 years! I'm hoping it works to post a photo of the house here...so ya'll can see the final result. 5. Reason 5. We like working with the company overall. Well organized, clear communication, flexibility (when my tenant who works from home needed to be on the phone, they sanded on the other side of the house and only painted the door when it was convenient for her.) Tim and his team prepped and painted the exterior of our new home, and we couldn't be happier. Our experience with Tim has been amazing - starting with the estimate process. We initially obtained estimates from three companies (including Roemer Painting). Tim's professionalism, responsiveness, and transparency made our decision a no-brainer. As first time home buyers, we had a lot of questions, and Tim was more than happy to talk us through the entire process and timeline in great detail. Tim outlined a timeline and fee schedule from Day 1 and did not deviate from what we agreed on. Moreover, Tim and his team's attention to detail is impeccable. Everything down to the trim, door detail and patio was done carefully and beautifully. Our home is stucco and had not been painted for many (many) years. The amount of attention spent on the prep process - i.e. sealing cracks in cement, touching up wood chips, etc.- could not have been better (or more appreciated!). Finally, Tim and his entire team were friendly and professional. Everyone on site was attentive and happy to speak with us regarding questions, comments, etc. They were also very sweet about our very curious dachshund walking through their work space (time and time again). We could not be happier with the entire process and, especially, the final product! We will use Roemer Painting for ALL projects (both interior and exterior) we undertake in our new home. Tim's team led by Felipe were professional, polite, tidy and generally wonderful to work with from start to finish. The exterior painting of our 1905 Edwardian house in Berkeley looks amazing. Not an easy task given the age of our wood clapboard house. The team invested the hard work of sanding, patching, priming then sanding and patching again before painting. This review is not based on the quality of their painting, but rather on their lack of respect for my time. I'm a working mom, and took work off one morning so they could come over an give an estimate for a painting job we were hoping to start soon. We scheduled a week in advance. They canceled one hour in advance. I have immense respect for other people's time, and I expect people to have respect for mine as well. This was not the case here. Very disappointed. read more

Tim Roemer carefully assessed my needs and proposed solutions to aesthetic and structural problems that other painters said they couldn't do anything about. He gave me an estimate within a few days, and it happened to be thousands of dollars less than the others I received. His team was friendly, neat, responsive, and highly skilled. Any concerns I raised were addressed immediately and with a great deal of care and concern. Finally (and most importantly): the results are GORGEOUS. Roemer painting is as good as it gets and I cannot give enough stars to Tim, (the owner), and the job his crew did. I ended up in a huge mess when I hired another company to paint my house. I vetted them as general contractors, but didn't realize that you needed a separate license to paint. The utter disaster and damage they did to my house cannot be overstated. Enter Tim Roemer - a paint superhero. Not only did he walk into a complete mess, he did it with a positive, professional attitude and calm demeanor--something I very much appreciated. He was open and honest about pricing, the time it would take, and even offered to be a witness on my behalf should I need to take the previous company to court to recover damages. As an aside: I was pretty upset about having hired the previous company and was blaming myself for the mess we were in. Tim's UC Berkeley Psychology degree kicked right in when he quickly helped me see that I was not to blame. (Thanks again, Tim!) Most importantly, the paint job - I cannot possibly say how happy I am. The house is a lovely old bungalow in North Berkeley with some sweet architectural details that I wanted to highlight with color. I also had contrast walls and there are built-ins--all things that can be challenging if you aren't an experienced painter. Tim's crew were consummate professionals and FAST! I watched them paint for a few minutes and was completely impressed with how quickly and professionally they plied their craft. I don't know if you have ever tried to cut in a corner wall (I've tried and failed miserably), but these guys kept straight lines right to the corner without getting paint on the other wall--it was pretty wonderful to watch. (I always appreciate good craftsmanship and his crew has it). At one point, Tim messaged me to say that one of the colors selected for the panels in the kitchen just wasn't looking the way he thought I wanted it to. He sent me a photo, and I had to agree with him-he was very diplomatic about it--the word I ended up using to describe it was "heinous"! :) He made a suggestion, and by then, I trusted his judgement. It turned out to be spot on. Many painters would have just gone ahead and painted, no matter how it looked. Tim takes great pride in his work and cares enough about the customer and his work to want to ensure that the customer will be happy looking at the finished paint job far into the future. Roemer Painting is just awesome. We used them for a very large, complicated interior job. Lots of different accent colors, many walls cracked or water damaged, big holes in the walls where old heating vents used to be, etc etc. Some walls had to be stripped down to the studs and rebuilt. And now, everything looks lovely. So, while there might be other decent painters around, if you have serious carpentry needs as we did, these guys are the best. They even discovered a basement leak of which we were unaware, and spent considerable time diagnosing and suggesting how to fix it. Above and beyond the call duty. Tim, the owner, is an upbeat guy and very accommodating with the timing, so that we were able to plan a trip for the most disruptive phase of the work (painting the kitchen). For the rest of the job, we stayed at home (even working at home!) and they were flexible about working around us. All in all we were very pleased, and we're looking forward to using them again for the exterior in a couple months. read more

I'm not one to write reviews, but Tim Roemer and his team (Robert and Norman) just finished painting our house in Oakland and they were EXCELLENT. They were completely professional - showed up on time every day, the team was clean and very respectful of our house and belongings. They would point out things they didn't have to and offer to fix it, making more work for themselves - for example, the ceiling in our dressing room was a different sheen from the walls (we weren't repainting the ceilings) and the offered to change it for us when that wasn't in the contract. And they were just really nice guys - they were nice to our kids and dogs. Most contractors don't like the dogs! Tim gave us a great bid - was much cheaper than our other quotes. And the payment was not a cent more than his quote. Sometimes with these contractor jobs, the price magically increases as you progress through the project. I recommend them without reservation. read more

Tim Roemer just finished painting our two story 4 plex on the outside. First of all I gave him a very short window to work in and he came thru for me. I met him for a quote and he was on time and had a bid back to me that evening. He was professional and honest. The paint job looked even better than I hoped. Tim helped me pick the colors and it was just what I wanted. I don't think you could do any better than this company. i got three other bids and none of them went into the detail of what really needed to be done. Recommend emphatically and without hesitation! Tim Roemer is the salt of the earth, and the interior of our house is beautiful! They did wonders with an old Oakland Hills house that had A LOT of challenges. The crew was on-time, polite, and always left everything very clean each evening. We were in a big time crunch, and Tim's guys worked solid for 9 or 10 days to complete the interior before our moving trucks rolled in. Tim's bid was lower than others', and he delivered precisely what he promised and on time. His guys also did quite a few extra things for us that were patching and light-construction tasks. Just want to add my 2¢ to the other glowing reviews on this site. Tim is a personable guy who responded to our request for bid immediately & was able to schedule much earlier than he estimated. The bid was detailed & accurate, & the crew was extremely competent & responsive to any issues we raised during the job. Their work is organized & efficient & everyone on his crew was absolutely pleasant to have around for a couple of weeks. Their prep work is thorough & we got a full range of options for paint products to apply. Their cleanup is thorough at the end of every day. They made significant repairs on 2 sides of the house, & somehow were able to erect scaffolding in a space much too narrow for it. Tim has a large crew that's competent in carpentry as well as prep work and painting. He ain't cheap, but it's been several months now since the job was completed & we have no buyer's remorse at all. Tim Roemer and crew just finished painting our entire house, inside and out. I give him an unqualified 5 star rating. We asked him initially for an estimate to paint the interior, on the recommendation of a friend. That process alone is what sold us on Tim. The communication was prompt, clear and professional from the beginning. Tim explained his process thoroughly, which included a major emphasis on good prep. Tim offered sound advice whenever we asked, and was also extremely patient and supportive when we wanted to take a little more time with a decision. He has a great crew but was very present at the house. If not painting alongside his crew, he was at the house several times a day making sure things were being done well and to his standards. Being delighted with the results of the interior painting, we then asked Tim and crew to stay on and paint the exterior. Again, great attention was paid to the extensive prep work needed. On one occasion, when the finishing touches were being put on and Tim was eager to move on to his next job, he discovered a small area of dry rot on our front porch. He was very apologetic about having to slow down the process to make sure that area was repaired before completing their work, but I found this to be one more example of Tim's integrity. He could easily have painted over the dry rot and moved on, and we would not have known the difference---but he is committed to doing it right. If price is your overriding concern, you could get your house painted for less than we paid Tim, but I doubt you would get the same quality. He is a pleasure to work with---and believe it or not, we continued to look forward to seeing him every day throughout these major projects. read more

Tim was wonderful to work with. He was the first to get me his quote soon after he inspected my home. I had to chase after some of the other painting companies to get their quotes in. Tim was clear with what needed to be done and he knew what he was talking about. His team arrived everyday and was polite and on time and very considerate of my living space. They cleaned up well after themselves and did not leave a big mess. My home looks wonderful now and it was done on time and within budget. The job is top notch. I think one of the best things for me was that Tim was prompt in his email replies when I had some questions. I really appreciated that and I think it went a long way to make me feel secure that any issues that I had would be promptly managed. Thanks Tim.
