If you're reading this because you're overwhelmed by the SSDI process, I was in your exact position…read more-- confused, denied twice, and honestly exhausted. Hiring Dr. Amir Niazmand at California Disability Advocates was the turning point that changed everything for me. From day one, he immediately identified why my original SSDI application failed and what had gone wrong during the earlier stages. His ability to break down the issues clearly -- and without judgment -- gave me more clarity in a single conversation than I had gotten in months of dealing with SSA on my own. What stood out most was his communication and organization. He handled every single SSA message promptly, guided me through each step, and prepared me thoroughly: * A month before the hearing (strategy and evidence review) * A week before (fine-tuning my testimony and expectations) * The day before (last-minute confidence check-in) He never rushed me and answered every question with patience and expertise. Just a couple of days before my ALJ hearing, I received the result from a new MRI assessment that supported my disability. Dr. Amir submitted it immediately, and the judge actually reviewed it before our hearing -- something that could easily have been missed without an advocate who stays on top of everything. I was also surprised by how quickly things moved. I hired him in June and received a court date in November -- much sooner than I expected. And when the day arrived, my ALJ hearing lasted less than 20 minutes, even though these hearings typically run 45 minutes to an hour. The judge had no further questions beyond what Dr. Amir had prepared me for, which speaks to how strong and organized my case presentation was. I walked in nervous and a bit overwhelmed, but I walked out feeling understood and represented. For anyone wondering about the cost: yes, SSDI representatives typically receive 25% of your backpay, capped by federal law (currently around $7,200). This is a standard, one-time fee that is only deducted after you win your case -- meaning if you're not approved, they don't get paid. In my experience, the level of preparation, communication, and the successful outcome I received made this more than worth it! If you're struggling with the SSDI process, don't wait months or years trying to decode the system alone. Dr. Amir Niazmand's expertise, preparation, and communication made an overwhelming process manageable -- and ultimately successful! I received word yesterday that I was fully approved. I can't recommend him highly enough.

Excellent care, support and service...I can't recommend them enough!…read moreI was diagnosed with a chronic health condition that left me unable to work. From the very beginning, the team at Berkley were knowledgeable, honest, prompt and compassionate. They were upfront about what I could expect including timelines, appeals and paperwork needed. I was never left wondering where my case was at or what was happening. They communicated brilliantly every step of the way and always answered my phones calls and replied to my emails the same day. They truly cared about me as a person, not just as a case. My case was approved last week and although it was a very long 3 1/2 year process (which they were very clear about from the beginning as that is the time the government takes to process these cases) their attention and care made the process and waiting easier to bear. Thank you Cliff, Jenni, Diana and Priscilla for your time, expertise and, most of all, care and excellent service for seeing me through the most difficult time in my life. You are a blessing and I appreciate you and all you have done to help me. I will be forever grateful!

Over the course of the time that I was contracted with them, I called with specific questions on several occasions, and with one exception, was NEVER called back. The one time that Mr. Berkley did return my call, he was remarkably rude, dismissive and frankly rather condescending. Shockingly unprofessional. After my case was denied by Social Security, Berkley Disability didn't even bother to inform me: The SSA did, and I had to initiate contact with Berkley Disability just to get the appeals paperwork sent to me. At no point did anybody ever reach out. At no point did anybody discuss any strategy or considerations regarding how to approach my appeal. That is until I decided that I needed to cut ties and find somebody who will advocate for me and my case. I left a message saying that I was unhappy with my representation. This time, I received a call back within minutes. I was told that Mr. Berkley wanted to discuss my poor experience. They were pushy, and so I acquiesced. He was again, rude and quite prickly. He blamed his staff for the lack of quality service, and offered to handle my case personally. I said I was done, but thank you. At that point, he said that he intended to file a fee petition against my settlement, should a ruling be decided in my favor. I was surprised and asked for an accounting of the time they had spent on my case to date and received a list that was grossly padded. They even included the last call with Mr. Berkeley that *they* initiated. They charged for 45 minutes. The actual call length - approximately 20 minutes. Berkley Disability's communication and follow-through is bad and my experience with Mr. Berkley was that he was rude and unprofessional. If you want a company that is proactive and responsive to your needs, I suggest that you look elsewhere.

I explained to him that I had released prior attorneys for various reasons and am currently representing myself and had gotten quite far. I was however considering an attorney to assist me in closing my claims. After a detailed dialog, Mr Fields determined that it was not in his best interest to take me on as a client. But what he did next is why I would like to recognize him. Once he decided he could not take me on he still offered his expertise to me should I have any questions as I continue to represent myself. And he held to that as I have phoned him with questions several times since our initial conversation and he did not hesitate to answer. His assistance and availability has been invaluable and I could only imagine how he would be if I were his client, as he has been more available to me than any of my previous attorneys. And I greatly appreciate it. So should you find yourself in need of a WC attorney I would highly recommend Michael Fields. And I thank him so much for making himself available to me as I navigate my way to closing my claims. Thank you Michael!

She is professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate. I am grateful to her for her immense help in navigating the SSDI maze. When it took much longer for some of my benefits to be paid than it should have, Ms. Padilla immediately contacted my federal representative's office. The benefits were paid within a week. Rebecca Padilla worked diligently with me from my first meeting with her in 2019 (I think). I had already been denied SSDI benefits twice when applying directly to SSA. While it took a couple of years for my claim to be approved, Ms. Padilla warned me at the beginning that it wouldn't be an immediate decision. The COVID pandemic lengthened that period, but she was still able to work with me via phone during this difficult time. When a dear friend needed the same kind of help, I immediately referred her to Ms. Padilla, who was also able to help her.
