There were seven in our group and about eight other people onboard. Water (and rubber bands to help with hair in the wind) was provided on the trolley along with music and laughter. Kari was our hostess and told us a little bit about each of the wineries that we visited. Charcuterie was included while we sat by the Applegate River and tasted at Red Lily. We all agreed that it was one of the most fun days ever!

We passed Noah's having lunch as we entered the Canyon. After a minor pin and a raft getting dump-trucked we still felt comfortable. Just before the 3rd rapid from the end, the Noah's guides offered me Beta on the final 3 rapids. While the first 2 could be considered read-and-run, their Beta saved me on the last rapid. My point: It's not always just about the river and making a 'check-mark' on your adventure list. It's about the adventure and the quality of those (the guides) who provide that SAFE adventure. I've been on a Rogue trip with Noah's and periodically call them for advice on the rivers they run. They are always congenial and give honest feedback. Turned out I knew one of the guides (they all look familiar) so that was a bonus seeing a friend on the river. Please make the effort to run K'íka·c'é·ki Canyon

They picked us up and after a short ride with 7 other people we were at the starting point. It took the guides a little bit to get the boats ready, then we were given a safety talk. These were things I really didn't want to hear, but it had to be said. Trevor was our guide. He had a lot of experience and he made me feel so much better about the trip. Boat driver makes snide remarks about Californian's as if he is unhappy or bigoted about…read more"unfortunate people". He also quite correctly admonished a couple kids for standing. As he kept talking his fury escalated to threats about kicking them off the boat. This put a damper on the ride. He handles the boat great. Limited nature talk. I picked the largest pine cones, hidden in hubby's hoodie (I didn't have a bag), to experiment on. The Magnolia tree greeted us, as we entered the park, was in full bloom. I think it's scented, too! My favorite about this park, was the playground. I spent more time swinging with the youngest grandson, and watching him and his 8 years old playmate (friends since toddlers), and walking around to the nearest creek & bridge. If it wasn't feeling like about to rain, we could have stayed much longer! Oh, they also have to drive back to Portland, today, so off they go, and we stayed longer.

Central Park in Ashland OR…read more During our stop in the City of Ashland on our way back to California we walked across the street to Lithia Park. We were wrapping up a Thanksgiving weekend at the time of our visit so leaves have fallen and they may have experienced some rain. It wasn't too chilly, the sun was out and so were the locals (and visitors like us). Lithia Park is a historic park and has combinations of woodland, ponds, gardens, and gorgeous Italian-style fountains. It's no wonder the park has been named the Crown Jewel of Ashland. The park is huge! Lithia Park is located in a lush forested area and also has hiking trails but we didn't go that far. Wow, and I didn't know this but, the park is also a source of Lithia Mineral Water. The park was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. Review #3266

Last year we celebrated our same event at Belle Fiore in a private dining room that was perfect for our event. This year we were not in a private dining room. We were open to a large room where the general public sits with very loud music. Make no mistake, the music was Broadway Phil & the Shouters so it was GREAT -- but not appropriate for an elegant evening. Our server was wonderful. She was very attentive and made certain she took gracious care of everyone's needs. Her excellent service kept me from giving a lower rating. What contributed to a 2 star rating for this event was the fact that our bill was probably somewhere between $600 and $700, yet restaurant management declined to allow us to pay as couples or individuals with credit cards. Instead, management required all of us to bring cash -- even though we had no idea how much to bring to pay for our dinners and wine -- and for our president to have to collect the cash from everyone and count it several times to ensure that it was correct. In my opinion, collecting payment for a dinner is done by staff. This was insulting. As a member of the planning committee, I will not recommend that we hold future elegant evenings at Belle Fiore -- if that continues to be a requirement. It is utterly déclassé. There are other restaurants we can give our business to that understand excellent service. Clearly, management does not.

We booked two kayaks for $50 each for a three hour self-guided tour on the canoe trail of Klamath lake. This was the best deal we could find in the area, and it was well worth it. We had so much fun, and the rental equipment was of good quality. Just remember to bring sunscreen and water. We booked our tour the day of and it worked out, but I would recommend booking in advance. This is a small operation, and we felt terrible that they had to get our rentals ready with such short notice. They did everything perfectly, from communication to the meeting spot to punctuality, but please don't do what we did and book in advance if possible!
